I was too afraid of dying to getting sick to really test my sleeve early on. I live alone far away from friends and family so I had surgery alone and recovered alone.
I am pretty happy that I was so afraid, because by the time I introduced other foods. I had so much success with my weight loss, I wasn't willing to risk it for food.
Just because you can tolerate foods, doesn't mean you should try them. You really need to get handle on your cravings because by the time you are 6 months you will be able to eat larger amounts of the foods you shouldn't be eating.
At the 2 year mark I could easily eat 3-4000 calories a day if all I did was sit in the house and munch all day. Large pizza, family size bag of chips, unlimited Cookies. All of that. In a day if all I did was eating. Nothing is going to stop you from eating bad foods but you.

Sorry. Not trying to be offensive by any means. This is why I don't and won't be weighing myself (I'll let the doc do this). Stalls will happen. Focus on how good you feel and how the clothes are feeling bigger, etc. Focus on doing what the doc has given you to do. Put your mind to other matters than numbers on a scale. Save yourself the stress and headache of worrying. Many blessings on your journey!!!

My pre op diet is Clear Liquids only - diet Jello, broth, sugar free Popsicles. This is day 2 for me. It isn't easy but I have to remind myself "one day at a time ". Surgery date is the 15th

The writing is terrible (like they purposely wrote it as obtuse as possible to try and keep you on the site long enough to click on advertising) but the information once you can pick it out, is sound.
I focused on being healthy, eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle over losing weight the whole time. It has made it easier to feel like this is a way of life and not a diet or a temporary thing.
I have made peace with the fact I will have to track my food for the rest of my life, and I am cool with it.
I post here to stay connected to my WLS and to try and help other people. IRL I try to avoid talking about weight loss and exercise because most people aren't really into the hard work, and I can't hide rolling my eyes in real life.

Good morning! I am scheduled for gastric sleeve tomorrow morning 1/26. I just want to thank you ALL for keeping this place alive. Bariatric pal has been a HUGE wealth of information for me that I believe I would have even paid a fee for (but glad I don't have too LOL)
Like I said I just want to give a thanks to all my BP friends that I've never met before but have more in common with than my daily life friends.
    Love to you all!!!

Heading out to the hospital in about an hour. Good luck to you guys as you finish up your pre-op weeks. Final weight was 318.2 and started the two weeks at 336. Been tough but worth it.
See you on the other side!

I'm on Day 7 of my 14 days of the liquid diet. I want to take a huge bite of bread or something with some flavor but I haven't. I've stuck to my 3 Protein shakes a day, sf Jello and broth. I got tired of chicken broth so started beef broth. Drinking lots of Water and Decaf iced tea. I'm halfway there and my surgery is schedule for January 31.

You can do it! I was a nervous wreck before surgery, from the pre op diet to going under, I was having a million racing thoughts and second guessing everything. I'm just 6 DAYS post op, so I was in your shoes less than a week ago.
One thing that helped me was reminding myself that I made this decision when I was in a good date of mind. Rest assured in the knowledge you've equipped yourself with in making that informed decision.
    You'll do great!

Don't give up!! The pre-op diet is the hardest part by far. I'm 1 week post sleeve and I feel great. The hunger has disappeared! It's nothing like the pre-op torture.

No don't think like that... I'm right here with you my date is 2/08 as well and I'm currently doing the pre op diet. I'm sitting at my desk and I sit pretty close to the kitchen all I smelled all day long was delicious food. I had to fight the urge to go downstairs and grab something to eat. But I know more than anything I want/need to lose weight! I refuse to let this year go by and say what I should have done! By this time next year you will be a Better you! Let's do this together okay!!!

I kept thinking things like, will I ever enjoy eating again? (Yes)
Will I ever be able to have lunch out with friends again? (Yes)
Will I be so miserable I regret the surgery? (Maybe but its worth the risk)
Am I a failure because I have to resort to surgery to lose weight? (no - you are a sucess for doing something about it!!)
How will my husband and son (and my pets) handle a couple days without me while I'm hospitalized? (They have a couple of days in the house breaking all the rules and having man to man time lol)
Am I going to have complications? (Focus on being positive)
Is this all worth it? (Yes)
Do I really want to give up sweets, Snacks, steaks, sodas, etc... FOREVER?? (It will be a shock how your taste buds change after surgery and some of those mentioned might not interest you anymore. I have a new appreciation for good food and can't stand some of the junk I used to eat. Physically just cant eat it. Im 17 months now and if I am at a birthday party, I will have maybe a bite or two of the cake rather than wanting to eat the whole cake !)
You got this!! Let us know how everything goes and Congratulations
