Going out with friends and not being worried that the wait staff would try to sit us at a booth. That fear kept me from going out with friends on many occasions. I even remember one where I arrived after the rest of my group and we all had to move because I couldn't fit in the booth.

Sounds like your mom is scared to lose you. Just means she loves you as she should. I agree, take her to a support meeting or two. My family was scared too, but once they really got to looking at the facts. What my quality of life was at 370lbs and what my life expectancy was with my co-morbidities. By the time surgery rolled around they were all for it.

Still losing weight, down to 209 so I'm closing in on 1derland. Spent one day last weekend out at the barn riding with my wife. She snapped a photo and I shared it on Facebook, so many good comments from my friends. I still get a kick out of running into people and having them not recognize me. Happened twice last weekend

Thank you for the kind words! I went to my first support group yesterday. I think it was pretty good. I plan on continuing to go. Hopefully it will help me keep my head in the game. Maybe my experiences can help others who are just beginning their journey.

Been hovering around the same weight for a while now. This morning I weighed in two pounds lighter. Guess the scale isn't done yet

I can't say I weigh everything I eat, it a few times a week I measure my food just to keep my portion sizes from creeping up.

I had the shots, I hate needles. HATE isn't really a strong enough word for my dislike of needles. But it's important. I don't have a history of blood clots but my surgeon felt them necessary. My wife gave me the shots. Took them in the thighs. I'm a big sissy and whined about them every time. But I'm doing this to get healthy and felt like it would all be for naught if I ended up with a clot. They sent me home with 24 pre loaded needles. Doctor allowed me to stop them a couple days early since I was up and about and being so active. I suggest talking to your surgeon. May be that they can reduce the amount of time you need them depending on your activity level.

OP don't be shamed for asking this question. I have had ice-cream since my surgery. My one and only dumping episode was on sugar free ice cream.
Be careful not to slide back into bad habits. It's an incredibly difficult road ahead.
Good luck on your journey and keep asking

I am sorry. If you are already asking about ice cream at DAY 18 POST-OP, that is an issue. I get that everyone isn't going to follow directions to the letter. I get that everyone is fallible. I get that this is hard. But it is irresponsible to act like it isn't foreshadowing real issues when someone is asking a question like that when the freaking surgery wasn't even 3 weeks ago...

It seems like you're running into a problem many couples seem to run into when one has WLS and the other is still overweight. Or maybe it's just a problem many couples run into when one changes preferences of what to do in their leisure time.

We're together since September 1994 and I can tell you that a lot of things changed during this relationship. It might be frustrating for you but you won't get him to do the things you want him to do.

I'd like to see my husband giving up meat and eat more fruit.
I'd like to learn a foreign language together with my husband.
I'd like to go biking with him.
I'd like to see him doing some exercise because he complains about back pain now and then.

I'm sure he has his own list of thing he wants me to do.

However, I can't force him and I won't be nagging at him. I'm convinced that would do a lot of damage to our relationship. He's a grown up and so am I. I wouldn't want to get the heat from him because of something he wants me to do as well. I'd tell him to go to hell if he started nagging about something I don't want to do.

I too have been having tailbone pain. Figured I'd just get used to it after a while. I'm down 158 pounds and have no butt at all. Trying to focus some gym time to bulk up back there but it is very slow going.
