  1. Oh man, I had the sleeve a little over a year ago, and not being hungry is what I looked forward to the most. And yet....I have never not been hungry. Even right after surgery, I was hungry all the time. It's so frustrating. For a long time, I could just have a piece of cheese to get rid of the hunger, but now that's not enough and I'm gaining weight again. It's miserable And yeah, I know what I have to do....it's just frustrating to have to fight through hunger all the time, so I feel your pain!

    Intense Exercise

Yeah, I'm guessing part of mine is nutrition, so I try to eat some protein and carbs right before I swim, but it doesn't seem to be enough. And since I'm just starting back up again, my coach is taking it easy on me...I'm nervous about having to go longer/harder. So it would be nice to be able to figure out how not to fade!!

    Intense Exercise

Just curious, where are you in your surgery journey? I'm a couple months out and returned to swimming a couple of weeks ago. I find that I'm doing great, except I run out of gas after about 45 min....not the tiredness that I had before surgery, but this is literally like I'm just out of energy. So I'm also seeing what everyone says

    Hungry all the time?

Yup, I've been on that from the start. If anything, those make me more growly, at night anyway.

    Hungry all the time?

Well, my stomach growls and is rumbly until I feed it, so I've just assumed it's physical hunger lol. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is, but I don't really have cravings. I'm perfectly fine snacking on string cheese or carrots or something like that, I am just not happy to be hungry at all. I'm worried that the habit of snacking in between meals will cause calorie bloat down the road when it matters. I just really HATE being hungry and thought that would go away with this surgery At least I'm craving the carbs, which was my other issue before surgery.

    Hungry all the time?

I try to walk every day (it's harder now that I'm back at work), and I'm planning on returning to swim team tonight hopefully. Was supposed to be last night, but I ate food that my stomach did not agree with at lunch so there went that lol.

    Hungry all the time?

Boo, I'm having the same issue, but I take my PPI twice a day religiously I've been hungry since basically week 3. I haven't been terribly worried about it, because I'm still struggling to get all my Protein in at meals, but it IS frustrating since that was my biggest issue before surgery. And I'm losing SO SLOWLY it's driving me nuts!
  8. Good luck to you too Orion! I'm just ready to have this over with! My surgeon has us stay 2 nights and 3 days, and since I work in the medical field, I am a horrible patient haha. I just wanna go in and get it done and go home Crossing my fingers for all of us!
  9. So I just tried greek yogurt again and surprise, surprise, it's still gross lol. I firmly believe they make you do this whole liquid diet thing because it makes you want to eat ANYTHING even if it's a vegetable What I wouldn't give for a salad right now! I don't like Jello, most yogurt, and I only slightly like pudding, so my choices are limited this week lol. Good luck to everyone else, we'll get through it!!!
  10. Yeah, after reading people's posts on here of having to do 2-4 weeks of a liquid diet, I'm trying not to complain too much about doing 1 week Although...I'm really really hungry right now lol.
  11. I can't wait! After 6 months of jumping through hoops and years of trying every diet imaginable! First day of my pre-op liquids here, definitely ready for this part to be over

    Picky eater

Following this, cause me too!! I just started my pre-op liquids and sheesh I can't stand jello! But I'm hoping that things will taste better/different after surgery, especially since you're basically going cold-turkey on the carbs. Not sure what will happen with my texture issues, but if at least my tastes were better, that would be an improvement

    Just need to vent...

I definitely agree, I just feel like that should have been communicated much more strongly in the past 6 months!! I mean, in the sense that it was something I definitely had to adopt or else surgery wouldn't happen. My goals for this past month were to do more strength training, cook at home at least once a week, and keep the food diary...no mention of the number of carbs.
  14. I've been planning and getting excited for the gastric sleeve for months now. My insurance requires 6 check-ins w/a case manager and with the doctor's office before they'll agree to the surgery. So yesterday was my 6 month check in!! Woohoo! Getting so close Talked to my case manager (before going to see the dietitian unfortunately) and she's completely on board with signing off for the surgery. Was really worried about that one since you know how insurances can be. Anyway, I go to the dietitian, and she looks at my food log that she'd wanted me to keep. She had told me in past appointments that she wanted me to concentrate on my Protein, and we talked portion sizes and all that, but no numbers really other than protein. Well, now she looks at like 3 or 4 days and is aghast at how many carbs I've eaten. Doesn't care that it was just the holidays. Or that I've told her that I struggle with being hungry when I don't have carbs (I know protein is supposed to last longer, etc, but I can eat a full-protein Breakfast and it lasts half the time as a bowl of cereal). Well now suddenly, this is a problem and she wants to delay another month. Really??? NOW you're telling me this? What gets me the most is that she only even knows this because insurance required me to see her for 6 months...if it didn't, she wouldn't even know and I would have already had the surgery. So I know there's nothing you guys can do, I just wanted to vent because I'm frustrated with this whole process.
  15. I'm telling my friends (who are really excited for me) and some of my family. But I'm not telling my mom/my mother's side of the family. For one thing, I think they'd freak out and try to convince me not to do it. But more importantly, my mom did A LOT of damage to me growing up when it comes to food. So it's like I don't want to give her the satisfaction of being "right" (even though she wasn't). My struggle though is how to "hide" it at first. My birthday is around 6 weeks after when I hope my surgery is, so it will be a time when I'm sorta forced into family situations with food. And I won't be eating much obviously. So I don't know how to hide that :-/
