    WOW!! That's awesome.
My surgery is Wednesday. I weighed 397 when I started my six-month nutrition/diet requirement. I weighed 301 yesterday before I left for New York for work. I am going to be 297 by next Wednesday before they wheel me into the OR if it's the last thing I do.
I hope I can mirror your post-op success. I got this first 100 off pre-op and I'm gunning to get the second 100 off post-op.
Congratulations and I wish you continued success!!

. I can tell you that I was completely on board and committed to every attempt to loose weight before. But I got HUNGRY. How is the sleeve different? I am not inappropriately hungry anymore and loosing the fat so because body fat is hormonally active I will not have all of that influencing my choices. One last thought. If I am not successful I am going to go down fighting.

There is no way short of crack addiction or AIDS that will allow you to lose weight without getting your mind focused and disciplined for the task.
    Spend time and do research
Get professional help to get your head wrapped around the effort that will be needed......do this first. Get yourself in the mental place where you will do what must be done to support weight loss.
Do this first and then the sleeve will be a tremendous tool for you.
Free your mind and yer arse will follow.....

If you want to sit around and eat candy, sweets and trash foods......the sleeve will not stop you.
You can easily find ways to eat "around" your sleeve.
The way to not sabotage this is to demonstrate resolve and apply discipline. If you are in a place where you truly want to lose the weight then you will follow the plan. If you are not.....then you won't.
Sorry if this is harsh......but it's the truth.
You have to have your priorities in order for the sleeve to work.....and to continue working.

No - it's different. WW didn't restrict portions or remove hunger hormones. You had to do all the work. We screwed up our metabolism doing diets in the past. Surgery is really the only effective treatment to combat severe obesity and maintain weight loss. Only 5% or less of patients who lose on their own keep the weight off. You need to be mentally ready for surgery but it's not comparable to dieting .

When you're ready, you will know.
When you're brain finally convinces your fears to "see reason", then you will be ready.
After you have researched more, read more, watched more videos, talked with more post ops, listened to more speakers, listed all of the pros/cons over and over and over, then prayed more and then some more, then and only then will you be ready-----at your own pace---in your own time.
Be patient with yourself, Grasshopper. You will know---when the time is right.

Definitely take the time to focus on yourself and your health. I commend you on realizing this. So often when dealing with tragedy of any sort, we do just the opposite and spiral out of control (I know I did). I would suggest seeking some counseling. Not only to deal with the grief but also all the changes you'll be going through after surgery including working on the "head hunger" that will still be telling you that you want to eat that whole T-bone steak.
And definitely come to this site whenever you need additional support (and to update us on your journey). There are a lot of truly wonderful people on this site who inspire with their stories as well as give compassionate real advice - even when sometimes it can be hard advice to hear. also, letting your wife read some of the posts on here may help alleviate some of her worry.

    Hey everyone!!
    HW: 267

    5'8"
Hey y'all I was just sleeved on Friday!! I woke up in excruciating pain and very nauseous. It was also uncomfortable because even though I had nothing to drink in more than 24hours at that point, I had to pee every 45 minutes because of the IV
Walking was the worst but definitely makes you feel better right after you sit back down. Although they never said it was ok or not, I also found relief by gently laying on my stomach in bed for 3-4 minutes
It is very hard to move easily without help or sit up. It kind of reminds me of going to the gym and workin out abs and you're sore the next day
While in the hospital I had 4 of morphine every 3 hours on the dot!! The pain and gas pain for me was bad. I asked for Benadryl 50 mg IV because I started to feel uncomfortable and wanted to sleep. I'm a nurse so I was able to communicate best with what I need
Today, 3 days out I feel much better. I'm able to shower, and slowly drink Protein shakes again and move from the clear liquid diet
It's so worth it. I lost 7 pounds since Friday

Tired of not wanting to go out in public and enjoy my life because of my weight. Fear of other people's responses and judgments bc of my weight gain.
Not having to hide or feel invisible anymore. I feel like people often don't take me seriously bc of my weight or judge me bc of my food choices (whether healthy or not healthy).

I would add not feeling like a freak or slug when in a group of people talking about physical activities and exercise.
Going to plays at theatre and not being worried about fitting into seats, come on Broadway!
