courtknee_luv reacted to Anthony74 in Just did some real disrespectful stuff!
I was just sleeved on the 7th in Mexico. I have not had any problems swallowing. I've been drinking plenty of fluids. Protein Shakes, broth, Water, Propel, etc. why did I just try to eat a 1/2 of a grilled cheese sandwich? It went down great but then I heard my stomach say, "Why did you just do that? I specifically told you that you were done eating that type of stuff but you still want to disrespect me. Let me show you how I treat people that is disrespectful to me". All of a sudden, there was a pain that I have never felt before, and it lasted long time too! Bottom line, I'm gonna respect you from now on!!!!!! It won't happen again!!!!!!!

courtknee_luv reacted to BunnyBenson in Shot to Reduce Risk of Blood Clots
I'm a nurse in a post op setting, we give heparin or lovenox shots to many patients after surgery. Very common and very safe, patients leave with them sometimes or on aspirin or coumadin. It could be based on health history as well that this route of clot prevention was chosen over the others

Someone please tell me you have had similar results.I lost 10 pounds on the Pre-op diet. And lost another 13 pounds on the first 10 days after surgery. That was 7 days ago. The scale has not moved downward at all since then! Doc said to expect a stall between 3-5 week. So I was. But not after only 10 days! Feeling very angsty and frustrated this morning. The internal voice is not using PG language this morning. How long do stalls last?

Surgery date July 26th was 235lbs to date I'm 185 lbs. Was a size 18 now a size 12 US. It hasn't been easy it's a lot of work and commitment. It truly begins with faith and believing in yourself.

Thanks, friends.
My husband heard me having words with the scale and came in and asked what was wrong. I told him, in very colorful language- that I am not incredibly proud of, about going 7 days and not moving AT ALL. He looked at me and said "wow, wouldn't that be something if that's all you got out of this." OMG!
Although I know he was joking and my threats to end his life were also in jest. I can't say I didn't have that thought (all this for 23 pound!).
But you'd all support me, right? If I off-ed him, on the evidence of that comment (alone) as motive!

Plenty of people still drink it. I'm 61 and I'll do Decaf till I'm fully healed but then I'm back to the hard stuff.

courtknee_luv reacted to gustavio in Can't get my protein in..
I bought medical grade gene pro unflavored Protein. One table spoon if it is 30g or Protein. I use 2 tablespoons in a coffee mug, add a splash of milk, hold my nose and chug it down in 2-3 swallows. That's 60g of protein first thing in the morning. Then I don't have to stress. Then before bed, I take 1 tablespoon with a swig of milk. So I'm getting well over 100g a day (including diet). I too was struggling hard getting my protein because I couldn't stand the smell, let alone the taste. With that being said, the unflavored still has a smell which is why I hold my nose.
You can order GENEPRO on Amazon or get it at GNC. It really was a lifesaver for me

Hi I had my drain removed by my surgeon the very next day I'm not sure how long you're supposed to keep that in my doctor said I didn't need to keep it in longer ... can you call the surgeon in Mexico to see if it take it out now. I know that once the drain came out I felt so much better. I was sleeved on 10/06/16

courtknee_luv reacted to The New Kel in Hunger 4 days post op. Normal?
Hi everyone,
I had my sleeve surgery 4 days ago, Oct. 3rd. The first 2-3 days I never felt hungry. Today I am hungry. I take antacids so I don't think its acid.
I will drink a protien shake and feel satified for about an hour. Then hungry again. I am fearful that the "won't be hungry after surgery" thing isnt working for me? Was anyone else out there hungry at this point? No sure what to do. Why am I hungry? I have had about 600 calories today. Could it be head hunger? Will this go away when I get onto solids?

I really am feeling much better about my coffee, occasional liquor dranks and a cigar once every great while.
Don't get me wrong........were there no employment ramifications for using marijuana........then I'd be having a hot tub installed next week on my back deck.

I sat down with my husband and told him my fears about my health and really why I needed this surgery and now he's back on 100%. He's even asking questions more and seems more interested in the surgery. I'm so excited for whats to come. My psych evaluation and nutrition appointment is coming in two weeks!! I've started back at the gym I'm already feeling my confidence coming back up

courtknee_luv reacted to gigiinDC in Approved in less than 24 hours!
I'm so excited .I started going to my surgeon in march and just found out after constant delays by the doc and being told I wouldn't qualify by my patient coordinator, and then a discovery of chronic veinous insufficiency that I am APPROVED. The paperwork was just submitted yesterday after 4pm and I was approved by 9am this morning! My patient coordinator expected to battle with insurance for several reasons... instead it was the quickest approval she's seen... Amazing!!
