  1. I was borderline but did not get a sleep study in the end. I think endoscopy is required. They test for a type of bacteria and look for things like ulcers before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Emory Bariatrics was awesome for me. I had Dr. Jamil Stetler and had little pain and zero complications. I had insurance through Cigna. First appt was the initial meeting with nutritionist and bloodwork and ekg. Beginning of the three month diet. I went for first appt on April 5 and was sleeved on August 4 after a 3 month supervised diet required by Cigna. Let me know if you need any other info. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. If she asks how you're losing weight, just tell her through eating less. No explanation needed and it's the truth. As for the why, well you know all of those reasons. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I might get in. I've never done one of these but I need the motivation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Have you asked him to stop or just let it slide? Tell him he can eat what he wants but that you would ask him to not bring foods home for you without checking first.
  6. Thank you. I guess I just needed to hear it.
  7. I feel kind of dumb even asking this. I've hit a stall, and i know it's my fault. With the New Year here, along with clamping down, I am considering some changes to my activity. Runners -- If i get on C25K training do you see a significant increase in calories burned? I have been reading on it, and to some extent it seems to be more about the efficiency of the workout. So, for gains, you would need the runs to be longer distances than the walks. Does that make sense? Anyone with encouragement?
  8. Mine was 15 mos old. I couldn't resist picking him up but luckily got past the weight restrictions without injury. You'll likely feel better than you expect. A lot better. Of course I didn't have to breastfeed. Good luck with everything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Imagine where you would be in three years and 150 lbs heavier. My wife has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and I see her in pain a lot. I'm sorry for what you are going through. Some people draw the short straw, and it sucks. You're doing what you can to make it as less painful as possible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Pics don't tell the story. I'm down a lot and wear clothes I have not worn in a very long time but I still see the overweight me in the pictures. Some improvement but don't see it. You've got to be experiencing looser clothing. Keep it up. You'll see it before you know it and when you're least expecting it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Until that sweet sweet nectar was gone. But mainly for myself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. If you start dictating what others can eat they're just going to stop inviting you to the party. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  14. It's completely normal. I also feared diabetes, heart attack, stroke from obesity. Look back at your reasons for starting the process. Look at the before and after section.
  15. I like mine a lot. I have the HR which is cool to see your heart rate level when you are working out. Shows when in cardio, peak, etc. Weekends I'm motivated to get lots of steps. Mostly during week it is helpful in that if my steps are low from desk work I'll do something to get some steps in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I used Dr. Jamil Stetler at Emory Bariatrics. He was awesome. I had zero complications and my incisions look great. First visit was April 5 with a 3 month supervised diet for insurance and was sleeved on Aug 4. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Amy's Organic Low Fat Tomato Soup was my best friend Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Scared going in to surgery I read a lot about this. That's the spot most leaks happen. Even with over stitching, it's bc of the tightness and pressure in that area. And it's not really wait and see. I am sure your doc will monitor it very well, but the alternative is more invasive. I've read most leaks heal themselves. 19. Gotcha. I read it as your doc recommended a different surgery.
  20. All that said, you mentioned trusting your surgeon and having initially considered VSG. Doc suggest otherwise? Reasons? That may affect some of the advice received. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I lived off of low cal tomato soup from day 3 and preop liquid diet
  22. Depends on your plan. But a small amount of Kung Pao chicken or Hunan Chicken are my thing.
  23. Probably not a stricture. If you have pain we were told to move back a stage for a couple of days. If you're off your pain meds you might want to try some liquid Tylenol.
  24. I had surgery through Emory Bariatrics in Atlanta. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Throwing up when you get too drunk is a protective measure our body takes to prevent alcohol poisoning. Just keep it in mind that you cannot even make yourself vomit now. I have zero judgment about drinking, but safety requires that you keep yourself from a point of danger even more so now that you are banded. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
