    Cravings

@@GSleeve822, I do these Assorted sugar-free Junior Cream Pops that are sold at a store called Winn Dixie. I don't know where you live but these are located in S. Florida. The brand Popsicle has a version called CreamSicle sugar free Cream Pops, however, most stores in my area no longer carry that brand. In addition, Quest Bars are delicious and high in Protein. I'm loving the S'Mores flavor.

    Multivitamin

I do the Bariatric fusion (Mixed berry Flavor). In my opinion, they are very palatable (a little sweet, but not too sweet). In tiny print for the Supplement Facts, it says on there for Gastric Bypass and Gastric Sleeve patients to take 4 a day. I chew all 4 of them, all in the morning, one after another. After each one, I take a sip of hot tea (or whatever hot drink you want). My NUT explained to me that having 4 of them would fulfill all the requirements that you need for the day including the Vitamin B12, Iron, D3, and Calcium. My labwork has been great. I wish you the best in finding one that works, but think that the Bariatric Fusion is a great choice because you won't need anything additional.

    Hystetectomy

I had a hysterectomy two years ago and had the surgery on June 15th this year. I've had my hormone levels checked through bloodwork and there are no abnormalities, however, prior to surgery I didn't have any hormonal issues either. I've been losing weight (not at the pace I expected), but my starting BMI was not that high. I've lost almost 40 pounds so far. Of course speak with your doctor(s), but I think you should be fine.

    Epidural cortisone injections

Cortisone is a steroid and one of the side effects could be weight gain. I have gotten one cortisone shot before and didn't experience weight gain from that one. However, I took another form of steroids called methylprednisolone and put on over 15 pounds. Please see the link below for more information on cortisone shots: http://www.webmd.com/arthritis/what-are-cortisone-shots . I was diagnosed with a herniated disc several years ago. What I found to be helpful that alleviated ongoing, intermittent back pain (which when it occurred was very excruciating) was Chiropractic treatment. I wish you all the best with getting the weight back off and hope that you can find an alternative treatment to the cortisone shots!

    Day 8 post-op, strange symptoms

@@piemonade, I'm glad that you are feeling better, and they were able to diagnose the problem to start you on the road to recovery. As far as the dehydration and UTI goes, you need to try to drink plenty of Water. The first week after surgery, I was super scared to overload the new stomach (as it only holds 4 oz.). However, on a follow-up visit to my doctor's office, I was advised that anything liquid passes straight through. After hearing that, I was able to feel more comfortable with drinking more water/liquids (i.e. chicken broth) which you can do at least 30 minutes after/before any meal. Since then, I am able to get in at least 64 oz a day, and my bloodwork came back great. I wish you the best in your recovery, with your overall general health, and with your continued success at reaching your goal!!

    Post op complications

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that they are able to get to the bottom of what is causing the complications, and I wish you the best for a speedy recovery and relief from any symptoms and pain that you may have been suffering with. God bless and stay encouraged! It WILL get better.

    4 months post op.....

I admire your discipline and dedication. Thanks so much for the advice! I'm going to take it. I had made up my mind to also do the same thing like a low carb/paleo type diet and not reintroduce starches (i.e. bread, rice, pasta--if any) until one year (that's the point which my doctor recommends it, except quinoa, kashi Cereal, and some type of oats which all have Protein in them). I'm still not trying to do those too much if any because of the carbs. I have been doing cardio walking/running and/or Rockin' Body workouts. I need to get in the gym for the circuit training/weight training. For me, it's been 5 weeks since my surgery so I planned on starting to work out with weights after the 6 week mark. I've done some arms with just the small 3 lb weights once or twice. Keep up the good work! Thanks again!

    4 months post op.....

Wow, that's awesome how you lost that much weight so fast. You look amazing! How did you lose so much so fast? What types of meals did you have? What types of exercise(s) did you do? Looking for helpful advice.

Will I ever get my energy back?

It will get better with time. I found that following a schedule/routine helps. Definitely, make sure that you are taking your Vitamins and drinking enough Water. We need to be hydrated to have energy. Ironically, I found that the more I move the more energy I get. I have been committed to walk/running or some form of cardio exercise (I do Rockin' Body if I can't walk/run) daily, and this has helped tremendously with energy. Good luck!
  12. Not getting enough calories can affect your metabolism, dehydrate you, and make you feel fatigued or lack energy. I recommend that you check with your doctor as well to find out if there is a complication. I know at first I was scared to eat/drink too much because of the stomach only being able to hold 4 oz. However, on my first post-op visit, it was explained to me that liquid including the Protein drinks go straight through. It is the solids that our stomachs can only hold the 4 ounces. Since then, I have felt more comfortable drinking liquids throughout the day (always 30 minutes after eating), and I have been able to get in at least the 64 oz of liquids if not more. Also, at my doctor's office, they gave us a timeline for eating the 3 meals/2 Snacks (protein drinks) throughout the day.

    Disappointed

I am sorry to hear about the delay, but who knows maybe there is a reason why it is was delayed. Maybe it's in God's divine plan, that you wait a little longer. Hopefully, they will be able to reschedule you soon, and you will be able to get the time off that you need. I pray that the next scheduled surgery is at a convenient time for you, that the facility is fully operational and functioning properly, including the a/c (trust me you don't want to be hot and miserable in the hospital). I pray that the procedure goes well. Wish you the best!
