Not too bad for a 53 year old G-Ma, who was morbidly obese just 3 months ago. Now I'm just overweight and 20 lbs from being within my ideal weight range. I want to lose about 25 more.

I was sleeved on Nov 1st and on that day, my BMI was lower at 33. I lost 27 lbs the 2 months before surgery and I've lost 33 since. A total of 60. I weigh again on Saturday. I think it's been slow post-op but I have to stop and look at the big picture. I'VE LOST 60 LBS and I'M ONLY 25 LBS FROM GOAL!!! Yes!!!!!

Also, once you get to regular foods, you can try the parmesan crisps. Many have talked about it on here. You can make them yourself or buy them at various stores.

Hate to say this, but you will have loose skin with the sleeve too. It all has to do with genetics, age, amount of weight that needs lost, etc. If you have stretch marks now, the chance of loose skin is great. It's a sad fact of being obese and then trimming down to a normal weight.

Doesn't it feel amazing to get rid of the "fat" clothes? I've been giving Goodwill bags full. The other day I found more size 16s and I'm a 12/10 now. I don't want that negative talk in my closet. Congratulations on your success!!!

I would try Stevia. Sugar and sometimes sugar substitutes can trigger carb cravings, so just be careful with it. Have you measured yourself? People say muscle weighs more than fat, but that's not accurate. A lb is a lb. A lb of fat weighs the same as a lb of muscle; However, muscle is more dense and takes up less space. That's why you can lose inches when you gain muscle, without the scale moving. Maybe if you see these NSVs, it will motivate you and provide you with positive reinforcement. Good luck!

Will whomever keeps putting the size 36 waist pants back in my closet stop it!
It seems like I go through my work pants every week and remove at least one pair of 36" waist pants (I wear a size 32).
Who keeps putting them back in there?????????

I am 53 years old. As I'm losing weight (61 lbs now), I'm actually looking younger. I really think it's because I don't look so tired and worn out. I'll post pics on Feb 1st, which is my 3 month date.

Some people deal with chronic depression their entire life. It's truly a chemical imbalance and a brain-thing. It doesn't sound like the Welbutrin works well enough for you. Hopefully your Dr will consider changing your meds. If you can't get the chemicals right in your brain, it's hard to control any other part of your life. I really wish you the best.

Oh thank ya'll very much! I have polymyositis. My rheumatologist approved me for my surgery. I'm in remission and all my blood work was good. I'm approved for VSG so all I have to do now is schedule my surgery date.

My 19 yr old daughter wrote this to me today on Facebook! I know now that I made the right decision!
#momappreciation I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of my momma. She has lost so much weight and looks better than ever!! I'm sooooo proud of her! She went from overweight and unhealthy to all around healthy! If you ask me that's a very hard thing to do and I honestly probably couldn't do it myself! She's such an amazing person and I'm so proud to call her my mom! I don't know what I'd do without her! My mom is a one of a kind women and I hope that one day I can be a reflection of you. Even if I'm half the mom you are ill still consider myself blessed! I love you momma

It's important to set bounderies, that people may understand when/before they've crossed the line. The purpose of bounderies is to help people to respect your choices in life concerning you. That's not to say be harsh, which is what we as a people have a tendency to do when we let people push us to our limits. Bounderies will help you avoid being pushed period, and consequently not leaving you in a state of reqret for angry words said. Your bonderies will affect those that are close(mom, sister and so on) as well as haters and new people. Example: Mom I know you don't agree with this surgery, and please know I understand your love for me is concerned about something going wrong. That's what moms do, so your feelings are in tact. However, I need you and I to agree to disagree about this and go on from here. Take this time to trust what you've taught me in my life will produce good decisions.... Peaceful conversation more than not will bring a greater bond and a awesome support team.

I have RA and I had the sleeve done on Nov 1st. I haven't had any set-backs. If anything, my joints feel better because I've lost 62 lbs and I work out 5X a week. I did have to go off my meds for a month before surgery and 6 weeks after but fortunately, I didn't have any set backs from it.

Don't tell them. I didn't tell my dad or a couple of close friends because they are all judgemental. I changed my eating habits 2 months before surgery so they saw me change my eating habits prior to surgery. I will never tell them.

I bought some Spinach and Kale greek yogurt dip at Trader Joes this weekend, and I ate it with the mini bell peppers. I scooped out the peppers and used them like a spoon. It was sweet, crunchy and hit the spot. It was a great replacement for crackers/chips.

Armygalbonnie got a reaction from CocoNina in 255 Starting Weight ?
When I started the pre-stages of WLS (August 2016), I had a BMI of 37. During the pre surgery and pre-op liquid diet, I dropped 27 lbs, placing my BMI at 33 on the day of surgery. Yes, weight loss is slower when you start at a lighter weight. My surgery was Nov 1st. Since that day, I've lost 30 lbs, with a combined total of 57 lbs. I now only lose 1-2 lbs a week, if I'm lucky, and I stick to my program very strictly. I have hit 3 different stalls since surgery and I'm only 9 weeks out. I only want to lose about 25-30 more lbs so as long as I'm going down, I'm happy.
