I had them on mushy stage but I should have waited. Crab is tougher than fish. Also at that time I could only eat 1/2 a crab cake. I can eat a whole one now. Around 3-4 weeks you should be good.

Good to know! And I love Bonefish Grill! That is something that I can look forward to once I can eat real food. Do you think I could have them on the mushies stage? Or do I have to wait till I get on the full diet?

The best low carb crab cakes are at Bonefish grill. They are basically all carb. The put just a few bread crumbs on top which you can scrape off.

This is a recipe I have created, modified from several recipes finding what works best. You have to use real crab, you cannot use fake. It will not be as low carb if you use fake, plus well its fake. I buy my crab at Sam's Club. They sell a 1lb pasteurized lump crab, for $19.99. If you live some place you can get fresh crab, even better. I was making these by the pound but I found the 1/2 pound at a time batches much easier to manage. This recipe makes nice moist crab cakes. I use Flavor God seasonings because they are high quality and low in sodium with no sugar.
8 oz of Real Pasturized Lump Blue Crab 1 egg 1 TBSP Coconut Flour 2 TBSP Almond Flour/meal 2 TBSP Lemon Garlic Flavor God If you don't have Flavor God, then use 1 TBSP Old Bay TBSP REAL mayo (Hellman's or other high quality) 1 tsp Dijon Mustard Ghee or Coconut Oil Spray for pan Wisk the egg, mayo, and mustard together, add the spices. Add the crab, mix it carefully with a spoon so you don't break the crab up too much. Or you can choose to break the crab up if you want it to be easier to chew to a paste. I choose to keep the crab lump intact for a more authentic feel. Sprinkle the coconut flour over this, then sprinkle the almond meal. Mix lightly.
Use a cookie sheet or something else flat, a large plate can work, and place wax paper on it.
Using a 1/ cup measuring spoon, place the measuring cup on a digital scale, taking into account the weight of the measuring cup, set scale to zero. Aim for about 3oz per crab cake. You should get 3 at almost exactly 3oz, and one at about 2.8. After weighing, using the measuring cup to keep the round shape, place on the wax paper. If you are going to bake in oven, keep them stacked high, if you want to pan fry them, flatten a little.
Chill in fridge 1 hour before pan frying, or place in freezer for 10-15 minutes. This helps it firm up so it doesn't break apart in the pan. Or you can just bake in the oven.
    Modifications
You can skip the coconut flour and the almond meal if you want basically no carbs. You will have to bake these in the oven.
You can bake in oven on parchment paper at 375 for 10-15 minutes.
These work out to about 15g Protein and about 1.5 Net Carbs each.

I found a ricotta bake on Pinterest that I can't wait to try. Different from the one already mentioned
    8 oz of Ricotta cheese
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan
    1 large egg beaten
    1 tsp of Italian seasoning
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 cups of marinara sauce
    1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish.
Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese.
Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

I read some similar recipes to this but instead if putting in one container, the OP suggested to cook in mini muffin pan, basically makes bite size quiches that are 2 oz each (I believe)
    Love the ideas

    Crustless quiche!
This morning, I used four eggs, 1 cup of skim milk, 1/2 cup 2% cheese, 1/2 cup bacon bits, 1/2 cup chopped onion, salt, pepper and dried mustard powder. Baked in the convection oven at 350 for 35 minutes in a pyrex and it's delicious! It also reheats well, so that's a plus.
I think I might use two whole eggs and 4 egg whites next time to pump up the Protein and I didn't have any spinach or mushrooms to add to it or I would have.
Think of all the possibilities! With the summer veggies coming in, you could add Tomato, zucchini, asparagus...YUM!
What are your favorite quiches? Give me ideas!

NewBeginning2016 got a reaction from krazy kat in Pain after surgery
I had pain first couple of days. Then pain when I drank something cold. Now I'm two weeks out and I have no pain swallowing. Try sipping using a baby spoon and see if that helps. I think sometimes our sip initially is just still too much lol. My NUT told me a month before my surgery to practice sipping from a baby spoon or a top from a Water bottle. It was helpful advice. It's like we have to recondition our mind for everything regarding this surgery.

My boyfriend of 4 years is thin and athletic and has been all of his life. He was so supportive when I was trying to lose weight through diet and exercise last year, but I fell of the wagon and gained it all back. He is always trying to coax me into something active whether it is a walk or a bike ride, camping or canoeing, etc. At 315 pounds I feel like I'm disappointing him when I can't do these things. He never says that but I can't help but think it. I've finally decided that surgery is my last option. A coworker mentioned our insurance pays it. So, I've been researching for a couple of weeks. (Also tried to get surgery 12 years ago and my insurance at the time denied it.) But I was super worried that my althetic significant other would be disappointed in me and not be supportive.
I finally brought it up last night. He was super supportive! He did mention that any surgery is risky, but he wants me to be happy and healthy. I told him I want nothing more than to go do these fun things with him and for them to actually be fun for me too! We talked about what that would mean about having food and alcohol in the house and he's willing to help as much as he can.
I feel such a relief. It's going to be at least 6 months before surgery because I need to change to a lower deductible health insurance plan. But I'm starting the process now so I can hopefully get it done in January.

Two weeks out and my eyes are on the prize! I'm so over liquids and strained Soups, but my eyes are on the prize. Down 22 lbs so far and that is inspiring to myself. Take it one day at a time. Don't concentrate on what you think you're missing out on, but let what you need to do, to reach your goals, be the focus. Best wishes to each of us!

I was so out of it the day of surgery. I didn't even look at my phone until the next day. Brought my iPad too, and it stayed in the bag lol. I was so tired. My family had to call the nurse phone to get me to answer. I couldn't help it. When they came the day after surgery, I kept sleeping on them. Day 3 I felt so much better but sill exhausted.

I do Water aerobics. I swear the fact that I have been doing Water aerobics for the past 3 years had a lot to do with how easy things have been for me. My gym has classes 6days/2 evenings a week and each instructor puts their own spin on it. I go at least 5 days a week.
@@vsg_candy - don't worry about keeping up. You can modify most of the positions or just march in place through the hard parts. After a while you get the hang of things.

I had my surgery 4th October 2014 and I have just lost 92 pounds I felt like a failure but I knew I was not doing what I was told to do. I stopped exercising drinking a lot of alcohol eating badly not that I could eat a lot anyway and stalled for a while. I see people who had surgery the same time as me losing over 100 pounds so I PICKED MYSELF UP DUSTED MYSELF OFF AND STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. I went back to walking stopped drinking taking my meds and I lost 13.2 pounds in a month still eating carbs. Don't worry don't be discouraged just go on your journey at your own pace. THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN CHANGE THIS SITUATION IS YOU!!!!!!!
