Call your insurance company first and find out what they cover regarding bariatric surgery and you shouldn't have any problems down the line.

I'm two weeks out on Saturday. That first week I felt dizzy too. Would get light headed doing very little. I was wondering how can I get out and walk like this? Didn't hear of anyone else having this problem. Called my bariatric support person and she said it was the low calories. To stay hydrated and rest. This second week, I'm not light headed anymore, but I get tired very easily. I have my two week post op appt tomorrow. I know with increased calories I'll feel better.

Two weeks out and my eyes are on the prize! I'm so over liquids and strained Soups, but my eyes are on the prize. Down 22 lbs so far and that is inspiring to myself. Take it one day at a time. Don't concentrate on what you think you're missing out on, but let what you need to do, to reach your goals, be the focus. Best wishes to each of us!

NewBeginning2016 got a reaction from Inner Surfer Girl in What can I do with...Ricotta Cheese
I found a ricotta bake on Pinterest that I can't wait to try. Different from the one already mentioned
    8 oz of Ricotta cheese
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan
    1 large egg beaten
    1 tsp of Italian seasoning
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 cups of marinara sauce
    1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish.
Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese.
Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.

Not this girl, like Miracle Whip lite. I tend to not follow the crowd. LOL. Patti, thank you for the recipe. Sounds great. When I make mine I used powdered mustard. Just like the flavor better.

I madethis today, wanting some deviled eggs, and decided to switch up the mayo with hummus! I used spicy hummus and they were DELICIOUS!
    4 eggs hardboiled
3-4 TBSP hummus (I used supremely spicy hummus by Sabra mixed up)
    I TSP mustard
A teeny bit of mayo will help make it more creamy for those who like a more creamy filling
Slice eggs in half and combine yolks with hummus, mustard, and maybe mayo for filling. Fill egg whites. Consume!
I made it with 3 TBSP hummus and a tbsp miracle whip and 4 halves (or two eggs) was almost 14g of protein!!!!

NewBeginning2016 reacted to gamergirl in Alternatives to Protein Shakes: Full liquids, Soft foods
I have posted a version of this before but since i have new recipes to share, thought I'd start over.
At first I drank my Protein Shakes like a good girl. Then I struggled through them. Then they made me sick. By the time I was post op, I was so sick of them, I’d rather have starved. Three things saved me.
    1. If you find yourself getting nauseated with them, chances are quite good that you are lactose intolerant, especially after the surgery. I take lactaid pills with my first sip and it really helps with nausea, diarrhea, gas, gurgling, cramping hell.
    2. I found two shakes I liked. Yours will be different but for me it was Chike coffee Protein, Syntrax mint chocolate chip, and I can also tolerate Syntrax Double Stuffed cookie. It helps to make only 4 oz, with 1 scoop of powder, half a cup of liquid, and the rest ice to make a 6 oz cup to slurp on, so keep the quantities small.
    3. HIgh protein Soups. These saved me. You can’t do these unless you are on full liquids, but once you’re on them, and if you are sick of sweet protein shakes, please do try these.
I am posting links to my blog where I have posted them. Full disclosure, I do not make money off this blog, so this is not for self-promotion. I like creating different recipes and sharing so I hope they help someone.
Once you are through your liquids stage, also search for soft foods, or look up the ground chicken and ground beef recipes, and you may find something you like that is sleeve friendly. I've posted links to a few here to get you started.
    Here’s the list of foods:
    Full Liquids Stage
    1. Egg drop Soup ( I haven’t posted a proper recipe because it’s so simple. Boil chicken broth, stir in two beaten eggs when it boils, stir with a pair of chopsticks. Take it off the flame immediately, cover, and let it sit for 5 minutes to let the egg cook. Add salt, pepper, and my fav, some sesame oil for a fresh flavor). liquid diet Friendly Hot & Sour Soup with Egg" rel="external nofollow">Hot & sour soup Shrimp “bisque” Lobster bisque Tortilla soup Chicken and mushroom soup Protein pudding Chocolate Mousse Soft Foods Stage

try adding more variety. If you eat fish try tuna in Water, try ground turkey instead of chicken, if you eat eggs, try soft scrambled eggs. a mild salsa or chutney adds a bit of change to meats and egg. I also recommend a nutra bullet or blender of some kind. It will help if food are too chunky for you at this stage.

What are you eating? I was getting all of my Protein from day 5 on, even in full liquid stage. Here were some of my favorites.....protein shakes made with milk for extra protein, refried Beans, scrambled eggs, deviled ham, cottage cheese, soft cheeses, plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein Powder, pureed tuna fish with a little mustard, pureed split pea Soup and and bean soup. And I mixed unflavored protein powder in EVERYTHING....mashed potatoes, lobster bisque, oatmeal, cream of asparagus, egg drop soup, baby food, broths, etc.

Many companies make a flavorless Protein powder. This would be something to stir a little into what you are eating. I would not necessarily stir a whole scoop, but a teaspoon or two would not change the taste too drastically. That way you are sneaking in more Protein without even realizing it. I know powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury makes a flavorless powder. I am sure there are plenty of other brands that do as well.

I always tried to find ways to sneak extra Protein into everything, even normally carby dishes.
...add vanilla Protein Powder to the egg batter of French toast
...add Garden of Life Raw Fit, an extra egg and unflavored powder to Bob's Red Mill whole grain pancake mix. Tastes even better than regular. I make a big batch, freeze em and have 30 second microwave Protein pancakes anytime I Want!
....mix my whole grain Cereal (Kashi Golean or bran nuts) into Greek yogurt watered down with a little milk.
...use Premier Protein vanilla as my coffee Creamer. Or even the chocolate when I'm in the mood for a mocha.
....muscle milk cake batter protein powder, milk and cottage cheese tastes like cheesecake!
....OJ and vanilla protein powder frozen makes a great dreamsicle
It's crazy how many new things I've discovered that are so yummy, and still good for me.

I pretty much ate at home during that period. Frankensleeve did not like any foods too well. But the few times I did eat out, it was Mexican food. Re-fried Beans and guacamole, queso, and the finely ground taco meat.< /p>

I don't go out to eat very often, but when it is necessary, I head for a place Baker's Square, Panera, Bob Evans, etc., for lunch or dinner (large variety for everybody) or anyplace I can get an omelet or eggs for Breakfast. Also, I agree that anyplace that offers chili or a hearty Soup is ok.

Quick and easy for lunch or dinner.
Premade chicken Meatballs (found organic at Whole Foods). Place in mini muffin tin and cook per directions (these were pre-cooked but I heated longer than it said to). Heat some marinara out of a jar. 2 meatballs, 2 T marinara, add 1/4c mozerrella. About 170 calories. About 16g Protein. Very good and a nice change from plain chicken.< /p>

Check the sugar content on the turkey meatballs and if there's no added sugar, go to town! I am always surprised how many brands add sugar to their meatballs. I have found a few that don't and turkey meatballs are what I use =)
