Shell Renewed got a reaction from HalimahB in Layered Mexican in a Mason Jar (Purée)
    Hi All,
I was missing Mexican and so I did a variation on the tex mex recipes I've seen. It's mostly pureed but a tiny bit thick. The one tiny 'cheat' is I added a sprinkle of tex-mex cheese mix. It's not as much as it seems in the picture, maybe because it hadn't melted down yet. One of my time savers is to precook my ground beef (and my chicken, etc), puree once cooked then freeze. Then I can quickly assemble ready-made meals.
I really love using my tiny mason jars as my 4 oz Portion Control. If I finish what's in it, I'm full. They make great tiny serving dishes in the early days. Since my top priority is to avoid stretching my sleeve, this keeps me honest.
    Prep time: 2 minutes
    Serves: 1
    Calories: 175
    Carbs: 9
    Fat: 10
    Protein: 14
    Sodium: 139
Layer in a 1/2 cup mason jar:
2 oz refried Beans (I used Old El Paso)
1 oz of pre-cooked, pureed lean ground beef
1 oz of thin, pureed salsa (I used Old El Paso)
A tiny sprinkle of jack or tex mex mix cheese. (I used Kraft)
    Microwave 1-1.5 minutes
Variations: If I had sour cream in the house I may have added a teaspoon of that on top of the salsa, then the cheese. If I had some avocados or guac, I may have put a teaspoon of that.
I was able to detemine the nutrition info by plugging in my recipe into Myfitnesspal. It's a great tool for that.
Tell me if you try it and if you like it

I'm so sorry to hear that she's not half as good a friend to you as you have been to her. She's a taker in this relationship and is clearly projecting onto you the judgements she secretly holds inside of herself (that her health problems are her fault, etc).
You deserve friends that will give as much as they take. Keep missing her and just keep her at arm's length anytime she is less than supportive of you.
I hope you find all the support you need here and irl.

Even if it didn't feel bad, please don't do it. Your sleeve is inflamed, full of stitches, and healing, so it's important to take your post-op care guidelines seriously to avoid complications. Don't think of it as a diet at this stage...It's a post-surgery recovery prescription.

Shell Renewed reacted to blizair09 in Tomorrow Marks 1 Year Since I Began My Journey
I started this amazing weight loss journey on March 21, 2016 with my six month pre-op diet program, so tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of the day that I began the journey to get healthier and to take back my life. As I wrap this year up, I have lost 182 pounds (99 during the pre-op diet program and 83 since the surgery on September 28, 2016). The time has just flown by, and it amazes me every day how much my life is different. I had my annual physical with my PCP last Thursday, and my labs came back this morning. Everything is in the normal range. That is also so cool. The bottom line is that all of the hard work is worth it. My relationship with food is now a healthy one. I am no longer obese. Life is good!
I have 35 more pounds to lose, and my journey continues. But I am proud to stop and reflect for a moment about this past year of working on a better me, and to look forward to getting the rest of this weight off by summer, and then entering the world of maintenance.
Best wishes to all, wherever you may be in your journey!

Shell Renewed got a reaction from Heather I in September 2016 Post VSG Updates
Let's revive it! I have been almost stalled since the holidays, but still losing .5 lbs per week on average, so not a total loss. My slowed weighloss coincided with when I stopped measuring and using myfitnesspal. I realised I'm still vulnerable to losing focus when there is a lot going on in my life, which has been the case lately.
Yesterday I jumped on my bike for the first time in many weeks, and today I'm starting to use myfitness pal again
    How are you doing @@Jacqueline52?

Hello. Sleeved 9/21/16. I, too, have been struggling with making sure I get my Water in. I've also been more lax with my eating, but have started working on both those things this week I feel like I'm getting back on track.
My weight loss feels slow and I'm in a bouncy stage right now. Down 2, up 1, up 1, down 3, down 1, up 2, etc. --you get the picture. The overall trend is down, but it's slooooow. Since surgery, I'm down almost 30 pounds, since August, I'm down almost 50.
Since Christmas I'm down about 5.
But honestly, I'm happy. I'm so much more comfortable in my body and in my clothes. Slow and steady right?

Hi. Thanks for reviving this thread! I had my surgery on the 17/09/2016 and have lost 40 lbs so far. A bit disappointed as expected to have lost more by now. I have been reading posts in different sections on this app and lots of references to drinking more Water and increasing Protein seem to spur on further weight loss. Will try this but need to force myself to drink. Have you experienced anything like this?

Hi all- my sleeve was done on 9/21/16. I started at 256 lbs and am down to 206. I can't wait to get under 200! I am currently in a size 14 - and am enjoying shopping in regular sizes now:) I still want to lose about 30-40 more.

Shell Renewed reacted to Rose1up! in One Year Surgery Update
I hit my surgiversary on January 6, 2017 with 100 lbs lost. I had a total of 4 surgeries last year which slowed my weightloss down. One of those surgeries was losing my gallbladder on Oct 1, 2016. Since my diet was small portions with high Protein, low carbs, and low fat, it wasn't a problem for me after my gallbladder surgery. I incorporate my daily activities with walking and when the weather is good, I ride my bike. Since my weight came off at a slower rate, I don't have a lot of sagging skin. I need to tone my arms. That's about all. A nurse practitioner told me that I need to only eat Protein and not worry about my veggies because I get nutrients from my Vitamins. I think that is bad advice. We get told all the time, protein first, then veggies, then carbs. That is what I follow. My protein is sitting at 60-65 a day. Since I'm high protein, I have felt so good through this process. I throw in my Fiber by eating oatmeal bars or chia seeds or veggies. This has been a great journey. It's gone by extremely fast. We all have our habits whether we admit them or not. Just be sure you always stick to the reason why you chose to have weightloss surgery. The best advice I can give you, is keep the inside of your body as clean as possible. Indulge in special occasions but get right back to your basics. Be sure to take your Vitamins daily and if you fall off the wagon, go back to your basics and look through all your nutritional paperwork that you were given. Don't ever give up on yourself once you hit your goal. Stay clear, stay strong, think healthy. If you've come this far, don't ever fall back. We always had this smaller version of ourselves inside the bigger version, so don't forget that you don't want to cover up your smaller version. People will get jealous of you and they will ask you, are you losing weight, it's your choice if you tell them the truth. Be careful of who you tell, as they may tell everyone. Remember to choose your food choices wisely and if you get bored of Protein shakes, buy the powders and make your own. Research other protein supplements to get your protein in. Continue your journey and pride and reward yourself for your accomplishments!
I have 10 more lbs to go until I hit my goal and I know I'll accomplish it. Thank you for reading my post. I love myself and so glad my inner self is here!

I don't mean this to sound rude, but I'm genuinely surprised that you can be discouraged and frustrated when you've lost over 20 lbs in your first 5 weeks, unless I misread something. You may want to have more realistic expectations, so your emotions don't become negative over what is actually a very positive situation. I bet, like myself, you would not have lost that weight without the surgery. Stalls happen all the time. As long as you are trending downward overall for weight, you're doing just fine!

Yikes! You've got a lot on your plate! You've been given a lot of great words. At this point, all I can offer is a virtual hug.
As a former exceptional ed teacher, I do think your words about accommodations were quite harsh. If you have the same diagnosis, use the accommodations. Your choice NOT to use them does not make those who do cheaters nor does it give them an advantage. An advantage is something you didn't have access to, and you did. You simply chose not to exercise your right to use them.
    Best wishes!

Also, you should really understand that you would not be done losing weight at 5 weeks, and not question if the stall will break. I doubt there's anyone that only lost for a month on this surgery. You've made a lifetime decision and should expect to reap lifelong benefits if you do your part. It's not a race
