Sounds like a hot flash. Perimenopause is much longer than we think -- starting with the on and off hot flashes. I've had thyroid issues in my life and have been experiencing menopause -- so I know the difference between the two. If it feels as if the heat is coming from inside -- my guess is its a change in the type of hot flash due to the hormonal shifts of the surgery. Your doc will be able to give you better advice. In the mean time, cool washcloths at the back of the neck can help you cool down.

@, if your doctor is thorough, he'll probably will order the full run of routine test and, maybe, an extra or two. I hope you find the solution easily.

I am on day 10 of the liquid diet. The first 2 days I found the hardest. Whenever I get hungry or have cravings I just think about how much I need this surgery and how in a few months time I will feel so much better that this time won't really even matter. Have you written a list of why you are doing this? I have, things like sore back, sore knees etc and I refer to it whenever I am struggling. You can do this, just ask for support whenever you need it X

One possibility is that your thyroid has gone a little wonky, that is, not producing properly. Diagnosis is by simple blood test and, if you do have hypothyroidism, the standard med, synthroid (generic levothyroxine) works well. I don't know of hyperthyroidism may also be a cause. On the chance that you already take meds, your doctor will order blood work to see if the dosage needs to be adjusted. Hypothyroidism isn't desirable, but it is manageable.

It sounds like a hot flash to me. I know our hormones get out of whack after the surgery. It's possible it could be hormones.

Greek yogurt is really good with a scoop of unflavored Unjury powder. Packs a good Protein punch. It won't be long before you can spread your wings a bit. Just let your tummy heal. You'll get there.

I just wanted to say how much I have appreciated everyone's help and encouraging words. I really do feel supported and that means so much to me. I can share my experiences up to the seven week mark where I am, and it feels good to help others as well. I am especially grateful for the "no judgement" and heartfelt messages which help me so much. I didn't know how hard this would be, but you lovely people have made it so much more tolerable and I am hopeful because of the people who have taken the time to share and give me advice. I am forever grateful. You guys and gals are awesome!

My NUT called and still advises that I should not eat less than 30 grams of carbs. I also was eating fruit by itself, and I have to eat Protein with every meal no matter what. Fruit is fine as long as it has some protein with it. She okay'd my Quest bars, and reminded me to stay hydrated. She also said to stay off the scales. Still early yet for the magic to happen...Patience is a virtue.

I got up on the scale this morning and the scale said 198.4. I felt like crying because I never thought I'd make it to the infamous Onderland. If any of you that know me and remember my last posts last year. I didn't think anyone in the 3s would make it to the 1s. I had doubts because I started this journey at 342. I still have 18 more pounds to get to goal, but I was just super excited and wanted to share with you all.

I feel like a huge baby, especially after reading other posts about people being hungry after surgery. I'm sorry if I sound like a huge baby, but this pre-op diet SUCKS!!!!???? My surgery is 7/25. I started my pre-op diet yesyetday. I'm allowed two Protein shakes a day (Breakfast and lunch) and 2 oz of lean meat, and 1 cup of veggies for dinner. I am seriously so hungry! I've drank so much Water today to try and not be so hungry, but it's not helping so much lol. Did anyone else have a difficult time during their pre-op diet?
I gotta say though, my kid is freaking awesome! My 12 yr old daughter has decided to give up all sugar, sodas, Snacks, and unhealthy carbs during my pre-op phase; she's doing amazing! Then today, my stepson wanted to try it with us too. He said he loves it lol. Now all the kids want to eat healthier which makes me SO HAPPY!!! My fiancé has 3 kids, and I have 2, so in total we have 5. My fiancé fully supports my decision to have surgery, but he said from the beginning that he wouldn't want to change his diet with me, but he did today. He loves chips and dip, and instead of having that as a snack tonight, he had a yogurt and a banana which made me really happy. I also needed him to pick up a few things at the grocery store this evening, and he told me he had ice cream sandwiches, but decided to put them back. I am so unbelievably thankful for the support I have, and that's just at home.

My surgeon and I chose the sleeve for me for a couple of reasons.
1 - I feel more comfortable with it. I know many people who had the RNY and all but one had severe complications after the surgery. Two of them to the point of almost dying. That makes me uncomfortable with it personally, and it's important to feel comfortable with what happens to my body.
2 - After surgery I'm still going to have several meds I'll need to take on a daily basis, including meds for anxiety and bipolar. My surgeon has had several patients who have had issues with their bipolar meds after RNY because of the malabsorption issues, and I don't want to risk that.
So for me the sleeve was the perfect choice.

No pointers but I just wanted to say that I think this is awesome. I am a lap swimmer but have never learned to do flip turns. I was never on a swim team. I have already told the pro where I swim that I plan to sign up for some private lessons so she can teach me to flip turn when I am a little less buoyant.

I just had my sleeve surgery last Thursday. I had to be on a 28 day prep due to the size of my liver. Not once did I cheat. This surgery meant so much to me, that I wasn't taking ANY chances, besides, this is my way of life now! I've cheated on so many diets and look where it got me. This is a way of life now. I told myself that if I cheated now, I'll just keep cheating once it's done. I want to see my kids graduate from college. I want to see my future grandkids some day. I want to live! Instant gratification will not get me there.
