I was using Premier and Body Fortress (both found in Walmart) before my surgery but I'm 1 week post-op today and my sleeve has not been able to tolerate either one of those. So I am now using nectar and it's great taste just like juice and yu mix it Water. They have it in Vitamin Shoppe and on Amazon

I wish I found out about Arctic zero it's a frozen dessert comes in many flavor depends on what kind you get but a pint could only be 170 calories, just let it sit out for 5-10 min and it's so good... Then eat salads also to much Protein without exercise will make you gain weight or stay stable. Don't eat after 7 pm

I have a hard time getting support, and learning new ways to control my emotional eating. They tell you to meet with a physical therapist, nutrionist and counselor. So far, no one is teaching me any skills. Just telling me to eat slower and drink more Water.

My 6 months supervised diet was more of a lesson in learning how to eat properly post-op. I didn't have a weight loss requirement and didn't have a specific"diet" to follow. Talk to a nutritionist at your Bariatric Program and see what is recommended. You could start out by replacing one meal with a Protein shake. Give up soda or high caloric drinks. I would not recommend coming off pain meds on your own.

I hope you do well with your weight loss, that sounds like a lot to manage. I find that when I eat high Protein and high fat foods, but low sugar and low carb, I do a lot better with feeling satisfied yet still losing weight -- good luck to you!

There is no "we" in bariatric surgery food plans, unless you are talking to someone with the same surgeon and the same insurance plan. Some insurance plans require a 6 month diet pre-op, but even those vary in what exactly they require from the diet and how it is to be documented. Your surgeon's insurance coordinator should be able to fill you in on exactly what your insurance requires. If you are self-pay, then very likely no worries -- I've never heard of any surgeon requiring a 6 month pre-op diet for a self-pay patient. It would be a great way to lose patients to competitor surgeons!

Never compare our own weight loss with others. We are all different, and if we follow the "rules" of WLS 90% of the time, we will eventually get where we want to be.
    Then the work REALLY starts.

Best advice I got was somewhat related to the OP's post:
"Don't waste your first six honeymoon months. You'll never lose weight that fast again," said @@LipstickLady to me in a private post shortly after I had VSG surgery.
I had already fully intended to be the most compliant WLS patient ever. But that advice really got my attention.

Use these six months to retrain your mind and your body. Eat with purpose, eat with intelligence.
food is no longer a reward. food is fuel. Ease yourself off soda, caffeine, sweets, processed foods. Incorporate more Protein, colorful veggies and complex carbs. Drink Water, Water, water.
Is it easy? Hell no! But doing the above will make your post op life so much easier. This is only six months, post op is the rest of your life.
Are you worth it? I'd say so.

1 stone =14lb, most people in UK weigh themselves in stones and lbs so for example they might say they are 10st 4lb which is 144lb.

@@northstar9148 Yes, my primary prescribed phentermine and I lost 15 pounds really fast. You can only be on it for 3 weeks at a time, but I've managed to keep off that 15 and then some. A lot of people will discourage you, but trust me, I get it. If it was that easy for me to lose weight, I wouldn't be in this situation to begin with. I am someone who has spent a lot of time in the gym and eat reasonably well, but between genetics, age, and a number of other factors, I put on a lot of weight and it does not want to go away despite my best efforts. Talk to your doctor...they are in a better position to advise you than anyone on this forum is. Good luck!

No, I had a specific case worker from my insurance co. Her job was to guide me through the process and be my contact person at Molina. If I had questions about the process (financially or insurance) she was my contact. , she called me now and then to check in on me and see how I was doing or if I needed anything.

I had a somewhat similar situation with my insurance provider having one set of requirements and the plan administrator having completely different requirements. I wasn't sure whose rules would apply! The person who helped me straighten it out was the insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office. If you have a surgeon picked out, make an appointment to speak with their coordinator and if they are reasonably knowledgeable and skilled, they will either know the answer or be able to figure it out right away. It is their job!
