  1. Betty, Have a great time. I hope you have a safe trip and great weather for your walking. :-) Roberta
  2. Ladies..... I have a funny NSV to share with you, it's one that only "we" would appreciate. I was in town earlier today and as usual, traffic was heavy on this main road. As I waited for the light to change further down the street (so that I could cross mid-block) a guy in an SUV stopped traffic to let me cross the street!! Let me tell you, this would never have happened 55 lbs. ago!! I felt pretty darn good as I strutted across the street in my black boot leg jeans, and short black leather jacket! LOL Roberta
  3. Got in 35 mins. exercise at home, and my water.
  4. My doctor's office does not allow any snacks! I rarely feel hungry at night so not having a snack doesn't bother me. Betty, you really lead an active social life!!! Do you think you or Julie could squeeze me into your suitcases for your trips to France?? I'll gladly pay the overages in excess baggage!! Worked out at home tonight. 38 mins. Getting in my water everyday!
  5. Went to Curves this evening. 35 min. workout. Roberta
  6. Boo, sorry to hear about your Bronchitis. This is really the season to get sick; when I got back to NY it was damp and rainy...not good for my asthma. I haven't done much in the way of exercise because of that. Take care of yourself, and feel better soon. Susan: Thanks...it's good to be back with the group! Roberta

  8. Thanks Julie.... I did a LOT of walking on that ship. I've only completed "7" sessions, so I need to get busy so I can catch up with you and Kat!! Roberta
  9. Hi everyone......I'm back!!! I just finished reading your posts. Everyone seems to be doing super well with this months challenge. Betty : glad to hear your son is home and doing better day by day. I had a great time on the cruise in spite of my asthma, and I actually lost about 2 #'s. I kept up with my exercise and my Water intake while I was away. Roberta
  10. The month is NOT starting out well for me!!! I seem to have caught Eva's flu!!!!! Chills, fever, etc. I've had to use my Nebulizer to prevent my asthma from getting out of control. What a way to start my cruise this weekend!!! Anyway....Julie, question... if I workout in the morning, and then do some more in the evening, can that be counted as two workouts? I hope to get better while I'm away and get in my exercise. I'll post we I return . Roberta
  11. Eva, good for you in not giving in to your emotions after your break up. You should feel very proud of yourself! Whenever we change old habits it feels so good. Glad your finally up and around. Roberta
  12. Thanks for the tip, that's my intention.... now whether my knees and asthma will allow me is another story. For some reason this month I'm having a lot of trouble with my bad knee.. a lot of pain and swelling.:omg: Not being able to take an anti-inflammatory is not helping either. Roberta
  13. Do come along Bluehill !!! Although I'm not sure that they could handle two sexy senior like us!! I so need this trip!! My DH doesn't like cruising so I'm meeting up with a friend who moved from NY six years ago. Every year she and her family go on a cruise through Royal Caribbean. This year it will be their new ship, Freedom of the Seas. It is supposed to beautiful. Yes, there will be plenty for me to do...except swimming... I swim like a rock!! Food wasn't much of a challenge the last time I went pre-band...except for the most delicious freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.:paranoid They were at a shop set-up like a Starbucks where you could get various teas, fresh coffee, small sandwiches and yummy freshly baked desserts. I think if I continue to take the Trimspa that should help to cut my desire for sweets, which has been the case for sometime now. The other thing I plan to do is keeping in mind how happy I am to be able to fit into a lot of my old clothes. And that if I indulge in too many sweets I wont be able to do that, which is a big issue for me. I'm so afraid of losing my Band and having all that weight come right back on me. So I'm hoping that will be a deterrent. I've already told my girlfriend that I plan to hit the gym and she "says" that's her plan too. Either way I'm going. I too want exercise to be a major part of my life. I think that if I do lose my Band, that will be what might save me... being regular with exercise. Roberta
  14. Hi everybody... just wanted to let you know I will not be around from Nov. 4th to 12th. I will be on a cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Haiti. I intend on keeping up with the November challenge and hope that I can do better than I did this month. I think the biggest problem will be getting in my water, but I'm going to do my best. Roberta
  15. Well ladies I went back to Curves this afternoon for another 35 min workout! Do you think I'll be able to walk tomorrow??? LOL Roberta
  16. Hi Betty, I've been thinking about you and your family as Tuesday approaches. I will keep your son in my prayers. Bluehill: I was wondering where you were :-). Finally got my heat Tuesday evening, GRRRRR. Thanks so much for your encouragement. This month has been a challenge on a lot of levels. The knee I had the surgery on a few years back blew up and was giving me a lot of pain this month. That kept me off the treadmill when I couldn't make it to Curves. Bummer. Anyway I have one more day left, and maybe I'll be able to get in some more exercise today. Amourette and Heather: I am so glad you are going to join us next month, we are a small group but you'll find a lot of support here. Congratulations Amourette on wearing a smaller size and people noticing your new figure. It feels good right? Eva: sorry your still not feeling well. Kat: sounds like you all had an awesome time! 35 min at Curves this nmorning! Roberta
  17. Ladies, I'm trying to do this.....40 mins. at Curves today. Susan: I haven't loss anything this month either!
  18. Got to Curves before 7 am this morning..35 min. workout
  19. Hi everybody. It's been a while since I've posted (since 10/19) My husband had a little set- back after his surgery but is doing just fine now.My furnace went down the next night and I haven't had heat since then. Arguing everyday with Sears ( we have a repair contract with them) getting the run around, waiting for them to come, being told we couldn't get service until 11/13th. All I've done these last few days is sit on the couch near my space heater and watch TV. They finally came late yesterday. I never got to go to Curves and was too disgusted to go on the treadmill. Not that these are really valid reasons.. it was just my state of mind. I had my own little "pity party" going on for a few days. I don't know what happened to me this month, I just couldn't seem to get it together. I don't think I'm going to make the challenge this month. I did go to Curves today... 35 min. Congratulations to: Bluehill for your 80# loss, our Hula Hoop queen Kat for making third place, to Betty for completing the challenge,to Julie for working out in Fla. while being tempted by lots of food, and Susan for continuing to press on!! Boo, hang in there as I said before, the scale is evil and lies to us. You'll see the scale move eventually. For now, just enjoy the fact that people are noticing your new body. Keep up the good work everyone!! Roberta
  20. OMG.... Boo, that is outstanding!! Never hold back from sharing these milestones with us. It is so encouraging and motivating to think that one day I'll be able to do things with my body I never thought I'd be able to do again. Hmmm.....that didn't sound right! But anyway you know what I mean :-) My DH had a Colonoscopy this morning and they found another polyp. The surgeon doesn't think it's Cancer but he had to go deep to get it out. They are concern about bleeding so he has to be careful, and is on a liquid/soft diet until Sunday evening. I need to stay with him today just in case he has a problem, so no Curves today.
  21. Eva: Hope your over the Flu and feeling more like yourself. Roberta
  22. Bluehill and Juile: You are absolutely right!! This is no time to poop out now! I went to Curves this morning (40 mins) then straight to running errands from there. 11:55am to 5 pm... Whew!!!! Do I get any credit for that? LOL Ladies, I had another episode of food getting stuck and a PB,...went and got a small unfill today. I'm hoping it does the trick. Roberta
  23. Betty, glad to hear that your son has such a positive mate. That helps so much when illness hits the family. He has age in his corner, and we are all praying for your family. It's good to see you keeping up with the challenge..and may I say congratulations on the 50 lb weight loss!! Kat, glad to hear hubby is holding his own. I hope everyday he gets a little stronger. A walk in the leaves sounds very appealing about now.....minus the rain! I'm a wimp ab out rain too. This is not turning out to be a productive month exercise wise for me either. However, I would never have done what I did without this challenge. 35 min at Curves today.
  24. Oh Betty, that is shocking news!! So very sorry to hear this . My prayers go out to you and your extended family. I admire your determination to exercise, and use it as a way to release the pressure you are under. Roberta
  25. My "new" type of exercise - I tried a cardio workout and I finished up with weights. I was sweating up a storm!! 40 mins total Roberta
