April 2006 Bandsters/what am I gonna do when I lose first 20kgs/44pounds
I don't know Eva. I gained back 2 #, and have been stalled at 15.5 # since the beginning of last week. Right now, 29 more #'s sounds like a lot. Since I'm a lot older than a lot of you, and have no young ones at home I am ALWAYS very good to myself. Honestly, I'm going to have to give this some more thought. I started my walking today. 15 min. on the treadmill. It's been maybe 5 years since I've done any exercise, so this is a big challenge for me.

April 2006 Bandsters - Running weight loss totals
I'm sorry Bostongurl, I don't know how to copy this list and then post the results. I'm willing to learn if someone with a lot of patience is willing to teach me. Here are my stats: 255/270.5/255/170 (-15.5 total) Roberta

Pre-op, not dieting and friends are "concerned". Help!
I'd tell them that you've seen a specialist and he is very concerned about your past history of yo-yo dieting. He doesn't want you "dieting" while you under go various testing, and that after your testing he has a wls plan for you to follow. That should help to stretch out the 3-4 month time line, because one always has to wait to schedule various testing. I hope you find a solution that works for you. It's hard to deal with that kind of pressure, especially when you have already made your decision. Roberta

April 2006 Bandits
Hi Eva, you have to remember this is the healing time and any weight we loss is a bonus. I think you are doing great with your wls. Plus your walking two miles a day????? If that's not exercise I don't know what is. BTW.....remember you may be building muscle and that will slow down what the scale says, because muscle is heavier than fat. Your clothes are probably fitting much looser now so don't let this get you down. Keep doing what your doing. TellyMelly and NJGirl: 27/28 lbs loss CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!! Roberta

Goals/NSV's
Teresita.......Outstanding job on your weight loss!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work. You must be so proud of yourself. Roberta

What to do? Delay... or chance it...
I think it would be too soon to travel anywhere let alone outside of the country. You also have to think about pulling your luggage, lifting it to be checked. I mistakenly booked a trip to Maine at the end of the month and I'm sorry I did. Still having a lot of port pain everyday. You will be surprised how fast 2 months can pass. I wish you the best whatever you decide. Roberta

April 2006 Bandits
Hi everybody, I was banded last Monday and am feeling much better. I started my mushies the evening after my surgery. I too am hungry a lot. One thing that has helped me tremendously with getting in my Protein, is Isopure Clear Protein. Not necessarily the best tasting, but tolerably. 40 grams of protein per bottle and ounces of liquid. I got mine at GNC. Getting enough protein will help with the healing process. TinaJ: You have to get in more protein that will help with that weak feeling. Lookingout: Hang in there you definitely did the right thing. I'm 17.5 lbs down since the 24th and I didn't do a pre-op diet nor have I been on liquids for weeks. So you'll definitely see good results, just don't let yourself get discouraged. This is just a bump in the road that we all have to get passed. Msheavensent: We were waiting to hear from you!!! Welcome home. You can battle that "food dragon". It's that head hunger that can kill you. Once you see those numbers going down on the scale, it will help you hold your course. Roberta

April 2006 Bandits
Fiona it is hard cycling back and forth thru this incredibly long thread. I nominate you to get this whole process sorted out. We April 2006 Bandits obviously have a lot to say on many subjects. Deb: Welcome to our group. I'd say it's better to burp than to have it coming out the other end which is my problem. I'm 6 days out. Roberta

April 2006 Bandits
Hi my fellow Bandits. Yes April has flown by and here we are ready to do battle with the food dragon. I think we are up to the task!!! For some reason one of my incisions got inflamed and was really hurting a lot when I turned or bent over. Today is much better. The pain has lessened with bending and turning. I'm wearing a top with a bra shelf and I'm finding that is irritating. I don't know what I'm going to do when I go out in public. I sure can't let these boobs swing loose. Is anyone else having a problem wearing a bra? I thought a top with a shelf bra would be a good option but it still kind of hurts. I have my post-op visit next Thursday and am anxious to see what their scale says, at home my scale indicates 15.5 lbs lost. 3-4 lbs of that was prior to surgery (no pre-op diet). I'm happy about that and am ready to get more active. Have a great weekend everyone. Roberta

EEK Advice please
Molly, this is the hardest part, this where we actually have to be very careful of the amount of food we are eating because we have no fill to help us. Try to determine when your hungry; is it real or just head hunger. We are just starting out, it's all about learning how this band works and healing. Isn't it wonderful to have such a large "family" to draw on when we have concerns? They are there day or night, we newbies are soooo fortunate. Roberta

April 2006 Bandits
Hey Eva, re. wls: I think I lost 3-4 lbs just prior to surgery (no pre-op diet). So that puts me exactly where you are. We'll cross the wls finish line together. I've been on mushies since Tuesday afternoon and I'm already so tired of this food choice. Oh well, a girls gotta do what a girl's gotta do!!! Have a great weekend. BTW, I've had that same feeling.....what have I done to myself....YIKES Roberta
-
home...uuugggghhhhhhh
Hey K@t, I understand how you feel but what a great support system you have with your DH. Just think of how skinny your going to be this very Summer if you stick with it. I've been on mushies since I left the hospital (the day after surgery) and I'm getting feed up with my food choices and want some "real" food. Try giving your doctor a call next week and letting him know your still hungry, maybe he'll advance you to the next stage. At any rate, your doing great, keep up the good work. Roberta
