  1. Thanks Cap'n Jack! Great to hear from one of the 'old timers' -- I'll keep a close eye on my sugar levels.
  2. Congrats on getting a surgery date! It's been a long road -- but there's light :w00t:
  3. I began my liquid Protein diet today. I'm going for 7 days then 3 days Clear liquids. I'm only allowed to have liquids to make sure that my liver is not too large. [YIKES!] I'm doing whey Protein shakes 3x per day. 40-60 gm of protein per day. In addition to being diabetic [i don't take MEDS, I use diet to control.], I'm also hypogylcemic. In the past, I have had difficulty keeping my blood sugar from plummeting. Anyone have any problems keeping the blood sugars from peaking and bottoming out while on the liquid diet??
  4. Congrats on your surgery going well! I'm looking forward to my own on 5/5... take time to heal
  5. Glad to hear it went well. Keep us posted. I'm going in on 5/5... can't wait!
  6. Congrats on your approval AND Grad School!!
  7. God bless you -- please keep us posted about your surgery!!
  8. God Bless YOU! You made it this far, the surgery is right around the corner -- please let us know how it went as soon as you're able!!
  9. SHRINKO de Mayo for ALL of us :rolleyes2: I'm beginning liquid diet on 4/25.
  10. I'm May 5th -- Cinco de Mayo! Looking forward to it as well!!
  11. Hi my name is D, I'm 46 living in Pittsburgh, PA. I'm scheduled to be banded on May 5th - Happy Cinco de Mayo to me! Long story short, I've always been overweight. My Dad passed from complications of diabetes in 2004. Four months later I was diagnosed diabetic. My PCP talked to me about WLS and gave me 6 months to get serious. I was at *gulp* 367 pounds and over the next 2 years lost 132 of them. I began to have health issues that lead to 7 different surgical procedures in the next 2 years. Including back surgery in August 2007. Recently, I was told by my orthopedic surgeon that I have severe arthritis and am in need of at least a partial knee replacement. However, I am too young and have to LIVE with the pain. Because of my near immobility, I have gained back nearly all of my loss. I am tired of the vicious cycle, I say, bring it on! I'm tired and I'm ready for a HEALTHY change. And I'd like to Tap Dance again
  12. Thanks JaJeanne for the info about the May group. I'm going to check it out. I'm going to try to remember to do the same thing with the photos. Perhaps every month or so. How's your post-op recovery coming?
  13. God Bless and Good Luck. See you on the Banded side
  14. I agree and thank you -- it looks as though there are a number of us who will be having our OWN Cinco de Mayo Surgical Celebration. Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes for you
  15. Way to go Mommy4! Just bring it, that's what I say... Since you'll be in on 4/30, you'll have to let us know how it goes
  16. My doc only requires 7 day pre-op, but I asked if I could start earlier. I'm going to begin on April 25th... I'm just a little nervous about my liver being enlarged. I have had surgeries post-poned for lesser things and am not willing to take the chance!
  17. Exactly! I couldn't have said it better myself. THANK YOU!!
  18. I wish you the best -- I'll be right behind you. My surgical date is 5/5. Here's to co-cranky
  19. I agree -- thanks Christine! I appreciate all the support
  20. I feel your FEAR. I've been researching and going thru the process for several months, but until I had a surgery date, the only thing I 'feared' was not getting Insurance approval. You'll get thru it -- it's just the BEGINNING of the biggest change of our lives. We're here to encourage and support each other. You're not alone no matter how far you are from home! Good luck to you!!
  21. Thanks so much -- this will help. My banding is scheduled for May 5th! Good luck to you
  22. I'd like that very much! Thanks
  23. My surgery date has been set for May 5th! I'm going in the morning to get a chest xray and final blood work. I'm scheduled for the final meet with the Surgeon on May 2nd. My Brother was banded 7/05 and has lost 220+ pounds. I'm so proud of him!! I'm not nervous, I've had so many surgical procedures in the past two years, I've lost count. I'd really like this one to be the last. I say, bring it on
  24. Thanks for the comment, Ky! I appreciate the support -- and CONGRATS on your banding -- I hope so far it's going well for you and continues to go well!!
