  1. You were required to lose a certain amount during your pre op?Yes!! For my insurance I had to do 3 months of nutritionist and I gained like 5 pounds after he first meeting and thy told me if I didn't loose what I had gained the insurance wouldn't cover me . Then they usually require some type of pre op diet . I have read some people get to eat some meals but most of them are pure liquid .the amount of weeks differentiate but I got 3 weeks and I had to loose 25 pounds (7 % of my body weight ) before surgery and I only have lost 20 so far Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was told 10 % which means about 25 lbs for me... I'm only 19 down and my surgery date is July 13th. ~ Big sigh~
  2. I agree with @@Christinamo7 and my triggers are just like @@AvaFern so I love they both responded and shared. Thank you both because I'm in the same boat and pre-op until my surgery on July 13th. I never wanted to have surgery, but I've tried every diet in the book for 25 years. Gained it all back and then some. YES I'm a statistic! When my weight started to affect my health, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high A1C, I decided to make a change because my daughter is only 24 yrs old, I have yet to see her marry or have children and at the rate I'm getting ill, I felt I'd never see those things happen in my lifetime. I was really worried when I saw one of my blood panel results that said my heart was the same as an "86 yr old" and I'm only 49 yrs old. I'm not doing this surgery to be thin, although that part will be very nice, I'm doing it to live.. live a long healthy life and to enjoy time with my family and friends. Even if this surgery only buys me "time"...what wouldn't a person do to have more lifetime?!

  9. Hello everyone. I know what you're going through. I had my first visit with my surgeon in October, psych evaluation in November, and completed 4 months of dietician visits in December. In January I weighed 243lbs and need to lose 100 lbs. I'm 5'2" and 49 yrs old. My mother has told me I'm fat since I was a child, and is constantly sending me texts asking how much I'm losing. Yet she's one that doesn't support WLS. I won't tell her until 2 weeks before surgery. I've told my brother and he's very supportive. My sister's haven't been told yet but I will in June. My surgery is scheduled for 7/13 and I'm both excited and nervous. What do you do to handle a mother and possibly a sister who won't accept your WLS decision?
