Fredbear got a reaction from VSGAnn2014 in people not educating themselves
There is a substantial percentage of the population who absolutely refuse to listen to anything said to them.
I see it everyday. I saw it in my bariatric introduction seminar... the surgeon says, "Now, after the surgery, your Protein goal is X per day." And literally two minutes later, a hand goes up in the (very small) audience, and their question is "Is there a Protein goal each day after surgery?"
These are the people who refuse to listen to anything unless you clasp their hands in yours, look them in the eyes and repeat everything twenty times and say prettyprettyprettyplease and compliment them on their hair.
And they'll still be clueless even after you do that.
If by some miracle they remember any bit of it, they'll still most likely not remember who told them, or may become convinced that they made the determination themselves.
Average people are still pretty stupid.

Im going to give you a virtual hug. *big squishy hug*
Im sorry you are being treated like this by your daughter.. you deserve love, support and understanding.
You should be proud that you have made the choice to change your life, admitting that you have a weight problem and actually doing something about it!!
It takes a lot of courage to make such a drastic change.... physiologically, psychologically and physically.
My brother actually said to me once i did it... quote.. "girl, you've got some balls to cut off your stomach.... good for you for taking control of your life, at least you are not sitting around stuffing your face sulking about it"
When he said that it made me realise.. that he is right..... i could sit here sulking, stuffing my face feeling sorry for myself... or take action and make that change.
Basically what i am trying to say is good for you for taking action.... and we got ourselves to thus weight alone...and we will lose it alone....
If your daughter is not speaking to you, she might have her own reasons, she might be scared or maybe she is fearful of doctors because of her son... who knows.
Perhaps sit her down and have a frank discussion with her, tell her what you have told us... and explain that the journey is already stressful without her adding further stress by using emotional manipulation.
If all else fails.... i am happy to volunteer to be your WLS daughter

I can tell you, as someone who's had a CPAP since 2002, that the benefit definitely does outweigh the mask. My wife calls it our "little marriage saver".
You'll get used to it. You would not believe how much better you have it starting now than I did in 2002. My machine sounded like Darth Vader in a TIE fighter.
    Some tips I have...
Don't use the Ramp function. Makes me feel like I'm going to choke.
    Use the humidifier.
Make sure you have plenty of filters and change them regularly.
Get a new nasal pillow whenever insurance covers it. I was really bad about it for a while and my nose hated me for it.

Fredbear got a reaction from provenzee in Does anyone's goal weight still leave them "overweight" or "obese"?
At the lectures I've been to, surgeons have indicated that their general goal is to get you to Overweight, or straddling the Overweight/Healthy BMI of 25.
Their argument is that statistically, Overweight people live longer than people with an underweight or healthy BMI. (I don't have the study names, but I do remember that making headlines a while back)

Fredbear reacted to BigViffer in Success story? How about a 2fer Tuesday?!
This week started off like most others, I just came back to work after almost a week off. I had to go to Iowa and help my dad with some moving related stuff. I was afraid my workout might suffer after taking so many resting days. Well, my leg day workout wasn't inspirational that's for sure. But as I always do on Mondays, I weighed in. 202! Wow, I did not expect that. I had been hovering between 205 and 208 for a while and was totally cool with it.
Then it hit me... I still have my shoes on, my phone, and my headphones on. So I shucked them off and weighed again. 199. On. The. Dot. I mean it was a solid 199, not teetering, but a even balanced 199! But wait... this could be a fluke. So I went to my YMCA gym later that night. Boom, 199. OK, this is amazing. But it could still be a fluke. Today, I go to the gym and weigh myself yet again. 199. Ladies and gentlemen, I am calling it. I actually hit my stretch goal. I was so stoked! So I go over to my nemesis to get it over with and out of the way. The dreaded pull ups. I have been training by doing negatives. So I drag a bench over to the pull up bar and climb up and assume my position hanging from the bar. And I am just hanging there man. Then it hits me... I'm not slowly going down. I'm actually staying above the bar. So I let myself down, and in a moment of pure otherworldly perception, I pulled myself up... up... and over the bar! I JUST DID A PULL UP. The first one in my entire life. I must find my 7th grade gym teacher and make him watch! I was so amazed, I thought I would do it again. And I did! And again. And... not this time. I got 3 perfect pull ups though. So then I went on to do the rest of my workout, but I kept eye-ballin the pull up bar. So I went back over and did another 2! I am literally stunned. All in all I ended up doing 10 honest to goodness pull ups.
Needless to say, this has got to be the best day since my surgery. A day I honestly did not think was really going to happen no matter how hard I worked. I'm under 200 lbs and I can do a fricken' pull-up.

I already said goodbye last Saturday. It was very calm and peaceful. No need to further invest anymore time, effort, energy or emotions. No one should rob him of his right to be a father. Nor should I have to reproduce to keep a partner happy. Sucks but kids are non negotiable. We had a beautiful run. I have no regrets.

Having children is something that should be decided well before marriage. It's an absolute deal-breaker if you're not on the same page.
If he wants kids and you don't, just end it now and find someone who agrees with you. Trust me, there are a lot of us out there.
