im 3 months post op. I haven't really experienced a stall yet. I have some weeks where I lose a small amount like 1 lb but its still a loss. Close to my cycle like now I tend to hover back and forth 2 lbs. for about a week even 2. After, I'll have a larger loss like 5-8lbs. My losses have been steady. Embrace it! I understand we only have about 9-12 months to lose like this after that it slows down significantly. I plan to take full advantage and reach under goal within that time. That way-- I can work on maintainence.

Ha ha. What a great question. Everyone loses weight differently depending on multiple factors. I had first stall at 2 weeks, and then have had multiple ones after that. Expecting another one soon. When I was much younger I would diet and lose quickly with no stall.
Don't know what to say about your gall bladder. Have you asked your surgeon about losing too fast? Certainly wouldn't hurt.

I got out the measuring tape yesterday because I've been weighing myself daily and it slowed to near nothing the other day for a day. The measurements are way down, and I think I need to stop being so focused on the weight (although that is really hard). I feel like I'm doing everything right, but I know it is a huge adjustment for my body. Gotta have patience.

Call your doc. Possible to develop a fistula between pouch and old stomach which causes these symptoms. I'm not trying to upset you. I'm just an RN & well educated on these things.

I had my surgery on 8/23 and had absolutely no pain, never took pain meds. I will say that I was extremely uncomfortable from the Co2 and was tired for about 2 weeks. I took many mini walks down the driveway several times a day. I'm now 7 weeks out and feel great, be patient you will start to feel better soon.

I have the same sort of left side rib pain. It's getting better every day, but I think mine is a combo of muscle/incision site tenderness and gas. I had my surgery on 9/28 and I was so tried today, I felt like I could have slept all day. I know it's part of it, but still tough. Then when I sleep, I feel like I'm getting dehydrated. So much to coordinate just to be "normal." I'm excited to be a few weeks out and have the energy boost I have heard people talk about. I'm already sick of cream of blank soup!

Please be careful. You could easily cause significant complications some life threatening. Just because you feel like you can eat alot doesn't mean you should. You'll cause a leak or obstruction. Don't test it. I'm sure surgery was done properly. It'll work if you work with it. Follow your plan - including portion sizes - it's dangerous not to.

Please don't push your new pouch... you are pretty new out of surgery, and your nerves haven't healed enough to tell your brain that your pouch is full... bananas are full of sugar. Sure, you may not have dumped this time, and you many never, but it's not Protein forward. I understand that some doctors allow things like bananas, but I doubt he suggested a whole one.
Try things like cottage cheese, eggface's ricotta bake (google it), Oikos triple zero yogurt, hummus, mashed Beans.< /p>
Get your brain onboard with your new lifestyle changes, and it'll make it easier for you in the long run.

I ate a whole pudding cup last night and then got really sick after. But I was using a baby spoon and ate really slowly. I was shocked it even fit in my tummy.

I have tiny cocktail forks and spoons. Even plates. Even when I eat cottage cheese I still take eraser size bites. I had bypass on 9/14/16 and had complications so I've been in the semi soft food stage since week 3. Im still depending on my Protein shakes. I don't get hunger pangs and don't really feel stuffed. As soon as I feel anything like I'm full I stop eating. Been crazy. I'm worried I won't know when I'm full once I start eating solid foods.

That's not actually dumping. What happened was the fish did not successfully make it into your pouch most likely. The inlet to the pouch is only about 1cm. Bites should be the size of an eraser. Also suggested to eat with an oyster fork (tiny fork) to force tiny bites. Best of luck in the future!

It is all part of a learning experience. Many times there are pre-triggers before you reach the full dumping stage that clue you to the fact that you are very close. They can be sneezing, hiccups, excess mucous, a change in the way food taste. So clue into your particular pre-triggers to help you avoid dumping in the future.

    Hi Autumn,
Try pureeing it first. I know I'm on full liquids through week 3, then purees through week 6. It may just be too early for you.

Right? Well, I didn't really realise how much I used it as a coping mechanism until I didn't have it anymore. Like you said, I want what I normally wouldn't even eat! Not good! But I love your mindset! You're so right!

Everyone loses at a different rate. 10 pounds in two weeks is great. the smartest thing I ever read was on this forum: "Always remember this is a marathon, not a sprint!" Just eat right, take your Vitamins and drink your Water. The weight will go away!

10lbs in 2 weeks after IV Fluid that probably pumped you with another 5lbs is pretty good.
I had surgery may 10th. On may 20th I had a 10lb weight loss. Except my weight was 389lbs. So at your weight you shod be extremely happy.
Dont forget the 3 week stall you are going to or are experiencing.

12 lbs is great! 6lbs a week... multiply that by 12 wks!!! See...it doesn't happen overnight, we have to work for it. Like I've heard a million times...this is a tool. Not a miracle. Follow the guidelines and you'll get to where you want to be. Sent from my XT1650 using the BariatricPal App
