Right? I didn't even care about them before! Oh, there might have been one or two, like a Golden Corral or Red Lobster one (btw, I would never eat at Golden Corral, very unhygienic there), but it seems like NOW, ALL the commercials are making me drool. There was a commercial that wasn't even ABOUT food, I think it was about football, but someone was eating nachos and I was like, UGHHHHHH! lol

I guess I should now be over on the POST gb forum, but I wanted to post this here so that people about to get the surgery know what it might be like.
I was sooo nervous and sooo emotional! I had no IDEA how much of a hold, food has over me! Since I use it to cope, I've been crying a lot lately. I really need to get some psychiatric help so that I can find a healthy outlet for my emotions instead of using food.< br />Other than that, my surgery went amazing! I was in there for 3 and a half hours. It was done laparoscopically and it took so long because I have a LOT of scar tissue in that area from previous surgeries.
I woke up in hardly any pain and never really HAD any pain at all, except for the gas. The gas is what hurt the most. So on the second day, I was up and walking the halls, doing about 4 trips around the two nursing stations and other rooms in the center in an hour.
I was released yesterday and love being home! Things are just like they used to be, except I can't pick up and hold my cat, he's too heavy. I can't vacuum and do most of the chores I used to do but I can wash the dishes and keep the kitchen looking nice. Also, I have to be up and walking every hour too! I only walk for about 5 minutes because I'm not used to exercise and it hurts my legs and back really bad. But I will build that up to 10 minutes in no time.
So all in all, it went great! Hardly any pain and no more hunger! Oh, although! When I see some commercials (and I cannot BELIEVE how many commercials there are for food!) it makes me REALLY desire them! Even though I'm not hungry, I STILL want them. And that's what scares me and what I need counseling for.
I'm still on the clear liquid diet for another 4 days and then go to full liquids which I can't wait for! Too much sweet stuff (drinks, popsicles and jello) on the clear liquid diet. lol
So I hope this has helped and was good to read for some of you! Good luck!

Oh, also, emuts... what TanishaP said is so true, it gets even better the further you go out from surgery! Like how I was talking about the foods in the commercials and how you're going to DVR your shows? Well at the time of writing that, yeah, it was a bitch seeing them, but NOW... they have NO effect on me! Now, watching those commercials for crazy bread from Little Ceasars, dripping with cheese and butter is as if I'm watching a commercial for Ace Hardware store! lol! It does nothing for me! So don't be like me and freak out wondering why you're still desiring all those foods when you're watching tv in the hospital! =)

15 months post-op - I have a personal trainer I work with for 30 minutes twice a week. On those days, I also run 30 minutes or more.
Then three additional days a week, I run at least 45 minutes and do more resistance training for 15-20 minutes.

Oh, sweet! Nice to know that I've helped someone! Yeah, if I could go back in time, I would have been more excited and waaaay less nervous. I was actually crying when they were all bustling around me putting in IVs, putting blankets on me, hair net, etc! Yeah, if I could go back, I would just be smiling from ear to ear! lol!

The Fluid goes down faster, so I know I could easily eat more Soup when I had just had Surgery. As far as the banana, it depends on how fast you eat, slower I eat, more I can eat. Measure out your meals, stick with it. Snacks in between your meals help curve your hunger. I was hungry all the time, but I followed the diet and as I could eat the more solid foods, I felt fuller more easily.

How far out are you? I was worried about the same thing until recently. The further out I get from surgery and more advanced I get in diet the less I can eat. It'll come.

It certainly seems sufficient, along with lots of Water. However, everyone reacts differently so it's not guaranteed. But, at least you'll know that you did the most possible to prevent or minimize sagging, but you'll definitely benefit with a healthier body which is probably more important.
