  4. Your last two paragraphs spoke loudly...I feel same and can't wait to not be the fat girl in the room. You see how people look at me and they can say I'm beautiful as I am but I know different. Keep going girl! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  5. My parents are supportive of my decision but today my mother then asked me "Are you sure?" and I replied Yes immediately. I can tell they are worried and I am running out of patience a little bit. What are you all dealing with and what are you saying? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  9. I am looking forward to the 'control' of a prescribed diet because I take advantage of that freedom you speak about. Food is everywhere and we must eat to live but when we rely on food for comfort or to alleviate boredom, what do we do after surgery? It hasn't hit me yet but it will when I realize I can't just grab some chips or stop at a fast food place because its easy.
  10. I am scheduled for surgery November 30th and saw my therapist yesterday. She keeps asking me about my emotions as the date gets closer and I just can't seem to put it into words for her. She asks if I'm scared and I am but I am also looking forward to my new way of life. I know it is normal to be excited and nervous and anxious but the OCD part of me wants to be prepared in time with pre-made broths and ideas for protein shakes. I don't attend another nutrition class until Nov 4th so maybe I'll ask those questions then. I just want to be ready! I see the surgeon and do my pre op paperwork on Nov 17th and have started a small list of questions for him like "Can I scoop the litterbox?", "Can I bend over to feed my cat?", etc. I'm trying not to over-think it all but can't help myself! What are you guys doing as you get ready for surgery? Any help is appreciated!

  12. I am going through the same pre op thing...my surgery is November 30th and I've told myself I will start exercising more and that hasn't happened. The thing that helped me increase my activity is I bought a Fitbit the other day and I keep looking at it to see how many steps I've taken and how many calories I've burned. It isn't magical, just like the surgery, but I feel more in tune with myself and more accountable. I've gained weight lately and found that I've given myself a 'free pass' because I'm having surgery. Well, no more of that! It is truly One Day At A Time with this stuff! So hard but we can do it. I actually used the steps today at work instead of the elevator! Victory! Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing.

  15. You helped immensely! I have no idea what to expect and also don't know what to plan on, food wise, the first part of my recovery. But I do attend another nutrition class a few weeks before my surgery. You posting was wonderful...thanks so much...
  16. I am so happy I did a sleep study and you will, too. The process was kind of strange, sleeping in a room while someone watches and you have all these electrodes on your body. I love my CPAP and feel I'm sleeping more soundly, plus I don't snore anymore! You will be so glad you did this...no need to worry about it...
  17. I am scheduled on November 30th and have attended the nutrition class....however, I'm taking another one on Nov 4th as a refresher and have no clue how to prepare myself. I want to have my broths ready to go and bought a Nutri Bullet to make smoothies. I just don't know where to start! My pre op appointment to sign the paperwork and meet the anesthesiologist is Nov 17th so it is all lined up, just have to do it! This has been a long process as my insurance doesn't cover the surgery and I have had to take a 401K loan at work. Things are happening now!
