Haven't had the surgery yet, but I have a question.
After getting the surgery I'm supposed to be on a clear liquid diet. I want to get all my protein in so I have whey protein powder. I'm going to mix that with water. But is this ok? I mean it's flavor is chocolate. There's only 2 grams of sugar in it, 100 calories and 6 carbs. Will I be ok with drinking this right after surgery or do I need an unflavored protein drink in the first week after surgery?

The straw that broke the camel's back
Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! You can do anything if you want it bad enough!

WEAK AND TIRED
Where is a good place to get unflavored protein powder?
-
WEAK AND TIRED
You're feeling weak and tired because you have zero protein in your system. If you're on the clear liquid phase you CAN get protein in with your protein shakes. Just mix it with water.

Ulcers on my stomach
Yes, I go back for a discussion of the results on the 8th. But he put me on meds for the ulcers. I mean why would be put me on meds for it just to deny me? =( I'm worried

Medicare approval/denial
Does anyone have, or is anyone familiar with Medicare and whether or not they usually approve or deny surgery? I just read that the bigger the insurance company, the more difficulty a person will have with getting approved.

Beating myself up!
I am still going down my check list getting things done before I am, hopefully, approved for surgery but yes, just today i binged. I don't know why but it seemed like my stomach was a bottomless pit and I just kept eating and eating. It's not usually that bad.

I'm still finishing up my check list before I get approved. That's IF I get approved! Man, I really hope I am!

The straw that broke the camel's back
What happened that made you decide "That's it! I'm getting weight loss surgery!"? For me, it was that I've been overweight since my early 20s and I am not 37 and I STILL don't have diabetes or heart disease... but if I keep going like I am, I'm going to get those things eventually! And I've given myself enough time to do it on my own and I obviously can't, so weight loss surgery it is! It will force me to eat right for a while which will get me in that habit and I will continue that way for the rest of my life. So what about you?

5 things left!
Ok, I only have 5 things left to do. Next month will be the psyche eval and the doctor's note In July will be my EKG, nutritionalist and my second endoscopy (I have ulcers). After all that's done, how long do you think it will be before I'm approved and have a surgery date? I have Medicare btw =)

Diet plan that I was given is f'd up
I was wondering if some of you can give me some ideas on what's good to eat weeks then months after surgery. I was reading the diet plan that was given to me and it suggested having a banana for breakfast. A banana has 14 grams of sugar! I will get dumping syndrome if I consume that! Please help me with some ideas! Thanks so much.

Looking for ideas on what I'll be able to do at goal weight
I have a few things I'm excited about being able to do, like Not getting out of breath when doing normal things Being able to fit on a roller coaster Not shopping in plus sized section Swimming in bathing suit instead of shirt and shorts building muscles up What are some things I might be able to do? What some things you're looking forward to being able to do? I'm getting excited thinking about it!

What are/were you looking forward to being able to do post-surgery?
Hey! You and I are the same height, current weight and bmi! And I almost chose the same background for my weight tracker! lol =D

Lost more weight!
Damn, that's crazy! We all can lose weight if we really try, it's just the sticking to it that is hard because we're addicted to food. That's why we need the surgery to train us to eat right for a couple of years and also therapy to find out why we turn to food to comfort us. To deny someone because they are losing weight before surgery is ridiculous, imo!

Endoscopy today! What to expect?
Ha! You fought the Dr. while asleep. That's funny stuff!! Strangely enough, my throat didn't become sore for several hours after I got home. I instantly noticed that my sinuses felt so dry and hurt. I guess from the oxygen? Yeah! My sinuses were so dried out it felt really weird!

Lost more weight!
The things I have to do before I can get approved are See a Psychologist " nutritionalist Have a doctor's note Get an EKG Things I've already checked off my check list is: Attended a nutrition seminar Endoscopy And two xrays of things I've forgotten about. I didn't have to do the whole 6 month diet thing with my doctor tracking it or have to lose any weight to qualify. My dr said I should be able to get the surgery in the next couple of months if I knock that stuff out fast enough =) I'm very happy! Just hope I really do get approved!

How the hell do I get through this?
Man, they MUST eat where you can't see them! It is beyond rude for them to eat in front of you when you are struggling with this! Tell them to eat in another room away from you, please! You need their support!

Ulcers on my stomach
Oh that's not so bad! Thanks! Now I just have to remember to take them all. I have to take 4 a day of the one, and 2 at night of the other. That's a lot of pills! lol
