  1. True, yeah this will definitely motivate me =) We can do it!!
  2. Does anyone know if insurance (specifically Medicare) covers getting tummy tucks or anything else that may sag if I lose weight too quickly? I want to lose the weight but I don't want to look like I'm melting. And yes, I will be doing cardio and strength training exercises to try to tone up the muscles but it can only do so much =/
  3. Many surgeons will not perform surgery unless nicotine free for 30 days! Some insurance plans won't pay unless smoke free for 3-6 months! You will not heal well either! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App Yes, true. I don't plan on getting the surgery or getting approved until August anyway, but this is definitely our last bag now.
  4. Oh wow, that is not good! Ok, this just gives me more motivation to quit! So maybe something good CAN come out of this!! Thanks, guys.
  5. So my doctor found ulcers on my stomach when he did the endoscopy. They're not bleeding and they give me no pain. In fact, I had no idea I had so many. He's put me on meds for them. I've been on them for 2 weeks or so. But do you know if smoking irritates ulcers? I think I read somewhere that it does. I know I have to quit anyway for the surgery but it seems like every time it's my and my fiancee's quit date, we buy another bag of tobacco (we roll them ourselves). So anyone have information on this? Thanks
  6. It all sounds very good! Yes, I know I will be able to eat these foods eventually, but I won't be able to eat them for a very long time. So it is a food funeral to me. =)
  7. Yeah, rollercoasters! And yeah, skydiving is definitely a possibility! =D
  8. I've noticed different medical bracelets notifying gastric bypass, bariatric patient, no blind ng tube. and also no nsaids. Is this something that's going to be necessary for me to wear? I'm young, I really don't want to have to wear these!
  9. What (if any) are some of the things you're going to do, get or buy when you reach certain weight milestones? =D Here's mine... 275: pounds I'm going to get a gothic (I'm gothic lol, sorry to the ones who hate us) Vial necklace and two bracelets of the same genre 240: pounds I'll be getting all the cool piercings that I've been wanting in my ears. 220 pounds: Nose piercing (like I had when I was thin before) 200 pounds: This tattoo of a cassette tape (I grew up in the '80s. lol) 180 pounds: Dahlia piercing 160: Dread my hair (which is going to be a task because I'm white, so I want it to look good and not look like shit locks lol) And at my goal weight of 140: Work on getting sleeves. How about you? I'm interested in finding out what you really want to do or get to reward your achievements!
  10. Oh, sweet! VERY nice to know! Thank you!!
  11. True, I guess it's different for each person. But this is a book that was given to everyone in the nutritional class. So idk
  12. In Jesus' name huh? lol Well it sounds like you're very determined with having quit soda already! You're really preparing yourself! You're one of the ones who will probably keep it off for good years after surgery! Very inspiring! And Taco Bell! Forgot about that lol! I probable will get a couple of little Mexi Melts from there. Those are my favorites. They're such an old item I don't think they're even on the menu anymore! But they're really good =)
  13. It's probably discouraged by most people, but what is going to be your last meal (or meals) before you get the surgery? (I obviously don't mean RIGHT before, lol, I know there is a diet to go on to shrink the liver. I'm talking about way before surgery) I want to have two last meals, not necessarily two days in a row. I want KFC because it will probably be the last time in my life that I will ever taste the colonel's original recipe! =) And I would like a fat, juicy steak and a lobster tail from Outback. So what about you?
  14. Yeah, I think I'm gonna just have to ask my Nutritionalist about exactly what I can have right after surgery. My handy dandy little bariatric book says You will be sent home on a bariatric clear liquid diet. Please do no forget to sip on Water throughout the day. Your goal should be 64 ounces each day. It says: You will start Protein supplements on day 3 after surgery You will progress to full liquids day 7 after surgery. But I need to know exactly what I can have, you know? So I guess i'll ask her or him. Thanks for your replies and advice though! I appreciate it so much!
  15. OK cool, so the chocolate protein shake mixed with water will be ok for the first week out of surgery?
  16. I agree. You should complain about how they treated you. Sounds like a horrible hospital with incompetent staff
  17. "Body bugs" Christ, what kind of house do you live in?
  18. Wow! Everything you said was so encouraging! Thank you so much for what you wrote! I feel like I just want to give you a hug you've encouraged me so much!!
