  5. Just got the news from the surgeon's office, my surgery is officially approved. I had nightmares about something going wrong at the last minute since UHC administers our company's private health plan (so I carry a UHC card, but I'm not really in a UHC plan) and UHC requires a 6 month wait whereas my company makes their own rules and require no wait. But it all went through, surgeon's office submitted Thursday, and it was posted as approved today. August 18th is the day my life is divided between before and after. 6. Wow, trying to blame your surgeon BC you COULD disobey your post-op diet rules? If something goes wrong now, this is NOT your surgeon's fault. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Try Walmart for the caramel ones. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Congratulations! That is such great news, and you are just one week away from your surgery date! Really excited for you! Which surgery are you having, and where? I am still waiting on approval, I have RNY on August 18th at Duke. Have you started packing your hospital bag? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  13. You do realize that when you post on here you are essentially asking for thoughts and feedback, right? If you don't want thoughts and feedback, then post the picture on Pinterest. NO ONE was even remotely trying to be offensive or insensitive to you. At all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. It looks like you're a great planner, kudos to that. And I'll chalk up your sensitivity to other opinions to be just a side effect of the pre-op diet. Good luck, I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  16. DAY 4!!! Oh, it finally got easier.....thank goodness!! No more wanting to gnaw on the furniture. Days 2 and 3 were awful, thank goodness for broth. Surgeon doesn't require a 2 week pre-op but I decided to do one to take off a small chunk of weight before surgery August 18th. I figure the first 15 pounds are always easy for me to lose, it's the next phase that's hard, so I'll just start my weight loss surgery journey at the hard part. Any weight I lose now is weight I won't have to lose post-op. 3 Protein shakes a day, plus a small high protein, low carb dinner. And so much Water. Next week I will probably drop the dinners for another Protein shake. How are other folks doing with their pre-op diets? Was Day 4 the magic day for you, too? 17. Therapy could be a real help. But if you're "too smart for your own good" still, you might not want to admit you need help. Still, I think last night is a really clear sign that it might be time to consider learning more from a professional. I hope you do. There's just something in the tone of your post that makes me think you are someone who is actually really hard on yourself. I'm picking up a lot of angry self-talk between the lines. Reach out for help, try to understand the why and not just the what, in terms of your behavior. You can't beat yourself up to a better life. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  21. You should be VERY careful not have too much selenium.... it is very toxic in large doses... 2-3 brazil nuts is plenty, Which is around 150mcg... a daily minimum requirement is around 55mcg so 3 nuts is triple the minimum requirement. Toxicity symptoms include: hair loss nail loss diarrhea skin rashes fatigue irritability nervous system abnormalities Anyone thinking of mega dosing, DO NOT DO IT.... you could seriously damage your nervous system. Thx for this info! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. No that was someone else, but I read the thread which is what made me want to try them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Just got back from World Market with about 10 different flavors of sugar free Torani syrup. Any ideas on how to use them? I'm thinking of adding it to: Greek yogurt SF puddings Protein shakes Cottage cheese? Decaf tea and coffee, hot and cold Any other ideas? How do you guys use them?
