Birth Control and Surgery

Hi ladies,

Has anyone had an IUD and had wls? I've had my IUD now for almost a year and I'm terrified about having to take it out. Is it really necessary to take out for this surgery?

Any thoughts or advice would be great!

      I have a mirena IUD. I did not have to remove it. It's hormonal action is localized rather than systemic, so it doesn't have the same issues with causing blood clots as the pill. Sent from my iP

    Really? What was the reasoning behind that? I've read everywhere that if you are on birth control you must stop it! I'm terrified of having to take it out!!

    Not all of them. The simple, copper ones don't. I have one and is like that. To be quite frank I don't really understand why wouldn't want to have a period. Is something natural, meant to happen to your body every month...but hey ho that's me...not related to the topic...pls don't get me wrong.
