Wondering why?
10 days on CLEAR liquids?? Wow, that's not strict, that's Draconian! YOU are a rock star if you can make it through that.....that's essentially NO nutrition for 10 days? Are you feeling ok? I'm weak and tired on just Protein shakes. Now I feel like a wimp!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Still Sick
Pls go to the ER, your potassium levels are likely extremely low and that can interfere with the heart. Just go....at the very least they will get you some IV fluids fast Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Pre/Post Surgical Plans Are Not Required
She knows what her doctor, who knows her health history, told her. Absolutely nothing our doctors said to us matters. If you ask 50 people on a forum, you'll get 50 answers....then what? Choose the one you wanted to hear? People need to listen to their surgeons. And if you (strangely) don't get any written follow-up material from your practice, then: Read. A. Book. Sleeved 2 years ago, thinking of D/S. Any here go to Mexico?
I haven't done that. I assumed it would result in me paying thousands more for something. Maybe I should contact them just to see. Thanks for the reply! They might be able to help you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Ruby81 .... Are you kidding us? This is a prank post, right? If not, where did you get your medical degree from? Where did you do your Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery? Have you gone back to your surgeon and bariatric team to see if they can work with you to see if your sleeve can still work for you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Food idea
That's a really long, loaded topic. Short version is you might be able to eat most anything, but eating most anything won't help you meet any weight loss goals you might have. There are books filled with post-op eating plans, but the final say should come from your surgeon. One of the best ones I've read so far is "Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies".... Don't let the title fool you, there's lots of great info in it, and it's way more than recipes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Gastric sleeve and malabsorption
I might be wrong but.....I think that means not enough bile coming to digestion, which maybe means gallbladder? Are you having any gallbladder symptoms? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any others *exhausted* on the pre-op diet?
I am very tired as well. A little more scattered in thought than usual, but I chalk that up to being excited BC surgery day is close.RNY on the 18th. Which surgery are you having? Are you having any low/mid back pain? I am afraid I might be irritating my kidneys w too much Protein and drastically low carbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

5 Days from Surgery....and I Can't Think Straight!
My RNY is this Thursday (HOW is it even possible that it is almost here???!!!), and my brain is fried. I can't think straight. I start one task then stop halfway through and do something else. I walk upstairs to get something then forget why I am there. I'll have a conversation with someone and nod politely, but inside my head I am not listening to a word they are saying, just thinking "A week from right now I will be 2 days post-op!" I have no second thoughts, I am excited to get to the other side, but ..... I am just amazed it's really happening. I have so much to get done, I only really have 2 days to prep BC I am going on a short trip to move my daughter into college right before surgery (literally the day before, but I won't be doing any lifting at all since I'll be on Clear liquids that day...there for moral support only). So much to do and I can't even get my mind calmed down enough to write a list. Normal? Please say it is? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Very emotional and need support
Lipstick said an incredibly important thing: your son is watching this abuse. As long as you stay, there's nothing you can do to change what your son learns from the situation. There's no amount of talking or apologizing or explaining why your boyfriend was wrong that will change what your son learns. Please get out for yourself, and for your son. Please don't let these lessons seep into the next generation. Be safe and free. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Day After Surgery: Am I Taking In Enough?
@@kharenzhee Sounds like you're doing great! My practice does Protein Shakes and Water day of the procedure as well, and I am thankful for that after hearing how dry everyone's mouth gets if they're not allowed liquids post op. Aetna ***
Looks like the only problem is with a NET gain, so there's a little forgiveness there. But seriously, those requirements are exceedingly tough. I don't think they are fair, to have a BMI between 40 and 49 and REQUIRING a significant comorbidity as well? Ridiculous. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Interesting Podcast on Weight Loss Surgery
Hi all, I recently came across the Weight Loss Surgery Podcast on iTunes, and I have found really interesting and informative. It's done by a bariatric coordinator and nurse in Oregon, and she has over 70 podcasts up so far....most are over an hour long. She interviews doctors, researchers, bariatric bloggers, psychologists, exercise experts, and patients with a compelling story. If you are an information junkie like me, or info you can listen to on the go, check it out. I'll give you a link to this particular episode, which covered the topic of weight set point, the biology of weight, and why bariatric surgery works differently than any other solution. Hope you like it, there's tons to listen to in her archives: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/weight-loss-surgery-podcast/id662443588?mt=2&i=369703494 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Low-mid back pain.....too much protein?
On my second week of high Protein, very low carb, and I am getting that same mid-low back pain that I got when on Atkins years ago. I remember it very well, BC it's sort of in a weird place, not typical back pain. Anyone else get this on high protein?? I certainly overdid the protein yesterday w too many shakes (177 grams of protein total), so I'm going to slow down on the protein (keep it at 90) and add in some fruits and veggies to up the carb/protein ratio. And double the Water to 128 ounces today. Just wondering if this is common? Surgery in 6 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any recommendations for DS surgeons near Western North Carolina?
Look into Dr. Sudan at Duke's program. He is top in this procedure and the Duke program is worth the trip. At my pre-op day yesterday, 2 of the 6 people there were from out of state. For the DS especially, you only want the very best doctor, and Dr. Sudan is world renowned in this. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
