Would it still be considered cheating if I ate a low-fat mozzarella stick or a egg? Even though I am on a liquid diet and I know the whole point is to shrink my liver and start ketosis but I'm wondering if I can eat those things at least this week before my surgery on Aug 23 and still induce ketosis?

I just celebrated my 11 month post surgery. I started my journey March 2015. At which time I weighed 378 pounds. Per insurance requirements I had to do a 6 month diet. I started out good but then started reverting back to old ways. My surgery was September 9th 2015. Dr mark eaton from southern Oregon bariatric center. Day of surgery I weighed 358. Today I weigh 243 pounds. Total loss 135 lbs. since surgery 115 pounds. I am off blood pressure, cholesterol , and no longer a diabetic. If anyone has any question feel free to message me. I am an open book. When I started I wore a size 48 pants. Today I wear 36.

Haha my husband said the same thing. He's like isn't that the dress everyone was debating about?! Lol guess it's still popular
I also feel like an imposter in the standard size stores also. I still feel like people will stare at me and be like whys this girl shopping here?
I also have a hard time dressing myself because I really started packing the pounds on at 27 transitioning into wife and mom phase, so now at almost 33 I know that I shouldn't be looking at the junior section even though I think some things are cute but in my head I'm like am I too old for this look? lol

"Of course you can have salads again", is what my surgeon told me during one of the last appointments.
He simply cautioned me to eat the chicken or steak from the salad first....then the eggs and then onto the crunchy salad vegetables on it.
I believe this was at my 6 month appointment.

Ask your surgical team. Mine did not permit as they said there is conflicting evidence on whether medication is absorbed effectively in people who are overweight.
I WISH I had an alternative for the multi Vitamin or B50 but only a couple of more weeks until I can swallow pills again!

I chose the bypass because I had a significant amount to lose, I wanted the extra accountability, and I knew my insurance would only cover one surgery. If I failed with the sleeve, I would never have an option to revise, I would just fail. It's possible to fail with the bypass, as with any gastric surgery, but I felt that the bypass would be giving me the biggest chance for success possible. Yes, the sleeve is (by a very small percentage) safer/faster but honestly, that tiny extra bit of risk was completely worth it to me. I'll be 11 months post op in six days. I've had no complications, not even dumping, and I've lost 166 pounds since surgery and 221 pounds overall. You've gotta be really willing to follow your plan to the letter, as there is less room for error than the sleeve from what I've seen because of the higher risk of dumping and so on, but that habit change and hard work has been so worth it for me and many, many others. Hope this helps! Good luck on whatever you choose. It's entirely possible to be successful with either surgery.

well tell your family to 'suck it up buttercup'. it is GOOD for you to cook healthier for them and their tastes will adapt. when I was a kid, my parents had this attitude towards what they fixed for dinner. take it, or leave it. don't let them make you feel the slightest bit of guilt for choosing LIFE.
a second factor is that you are probably going through the hormone dump we all go through, so I can encourage you that your emotions will not always be so heady. I am 11 weeks post op and while it is true that for most of humanity, through most ages, food has always been a center of social activity, but if you continue to learn and explore you will find healthy ways, within your program to participate and be all the better for it.
What's done is done, and you may need to mourn the loss of the 'old you' so you can move forward into your new life.
