Well I am officially sleeved and one post op! I'm not feeling too bad. Had surgery at 3:30p yesterday and was walking around about 10:30pm last night. The pain is bearable . Doing the walking and swimming before surgery definitely made a difference in the healing process! I wish all of you guys the best we got this!

Hi fellow sleevers and soon to be! I am in my room, have been since around 11:00 (I think) the surgery went great. I'm glad to be on the other side of it now and starting my new life. Pain is minimal except in one area at the very top of my abdomen, right under the esophogus. It hurts like air is trapped, with just a little burning. Nothing I can't sleep through. They gave me more pain meds when i asked and I just took a little nap. I also just got back from walking. Went great too! Tip: I remembered from my past c-sections, to hold a pillow over your tummy and push on it when I was getting up. Also when walking around. It helped me with pain. All in all, I'm doing well. Can't wait to see everyone else's updates from surgery today!

My program gave me three bottles of Hibiclens, a shower in the morning and at night two days prior, two showers the day before, and one shower in the morning before I head to the hospital. Five showers total.

But I also do not have a liquid diet before. I have two weeks of a very low calorie diet.

Small reality adjustment coming at you here for those who have recently been sleeved.
Below are my weight loss stats for the first four months post-op:
    Month 1 -10.4 pounds
    Month 2 -11.8 pounds
    Month 3 -9.2 pounds
    Month 4 -10.4 pounds
    Then things slowed down.
Yet here I am today -- 100 pounds lighter and maintaining at 135 pounds.
Guys, this isn't about how fast you can lose, but about learning how to change your life and your lifestyle in a way that will support your health and a healthy weight for the rest of your life. THAT should be your WLS goal.
    Good luck to you all.

No, I had a specific case worker from my insurance co. Her job was to guide me through the process and be my contact person at Molina. If I had questions about the process (financially or insurance) she was my contact. , she called me now and then to check in on me and see how I was doing or if I needed anything.

    What state are you in?
I'm at the "approved but waiting for surgery " stage so if you have any questions about working through the process - let me know .

    I have Molina-Apple health.
There are different obesity categories for insurance. Molina will approve it if your BMI is over 40.
It's a different set of requirements if your BMI is below 40. That's when you need to have at least one comorbidity.
You should have a caseworker available to you that can help you through the process. I had a caseworker and it actually made the process very easy. She had all of my information ready with the insurance company so that when the surgeon submitted it she was waiting for it and it got approved in just a few days.

Not to discourage you, but when you mentioned your gastritis- if it is caused by h pylori, that could slow things down a bit. They discovered my gastritis (caused by h pylori) on my EGD. My surgeon required that be treated and eradicated before I could have surgery. It was two weeks of two medicines and acid reducer then wait three months to retest that it was gone before he would do surgery. Although some surgeons will do surgery and treat it after, mine won't.
I have a friend who is also doing WLS and she is a college professor. She has tried to work around her school schedule too. She is now aiming for this Christmas break. That might be a good time to focus on getting yours done- at the beginning of winter break.
Good luck to you, I hope it works out well for you. Keep us posted
