My nutritionist suggested setting a timer on my phone and like every 10 minutes when it goes off, take a small sip of Water (or your Protein shake). She recommended about only drinking a half ounce at a time. Perhaps get a medicine spoon and measure 15mL and try to drink that every 10-15 minutes. Hope that helps and you get some relief!
Also, consider taking a little more time off, if possible. It sounds like you're not ready and risk making your condition much worse.

If you are a meal skipper, have you thought about replacing that one meal with a Protein shake? My nutritionist recommended doing that from the beginning. For me, I used one for my Breakfast, but for you, perhaps that could be lunch instead.
On the other hand, for lunch, I typically take leftovers from dinner the night before. My husband and I purposely cook some extra dinner so that I can pack my lunch when putting away dinner. It's easy and doesn't require a ton of thought!
Hope these ideas help! Good luck!

I feel your pain. I'm on day 6 of 14 day Clear Liquids and Protein shakes only. Luckily, I haven't had the headaches, but have been miserably hungry. Today is the first day that I've felt semi-human.
Anyway, I forget who asked, but the reason for the Clear Liquids is because it helps to rapidly shrink the fat around your liver and make it safer during surgery when they have to move your liver out of the way during surgery.

I'm on track with my surgeon's plan. But when I hear other people eating meat and heavier things I got unsure of myself. Thanks for all the responses.

@@Monie717 No, you're not behind schedule! My surgeon and nutritionist do NOT want you advancing foods till they tell you it's ok! Their plan is basically this...if on post-op day 2 you can tolerate Clear liquids, then they advance you to full liquids for the next 2 weeks. If that is tolerated, then after the 2 week appointment, they will let you go to puréed food. Then, after another time period (I can't remember now) if you are tolerating that, then you can go back to regular food.
If you're having problems with pain with eating, then they say that you're probably eating too quickly. Personally, I would not advance my food any quicker than the surgeon recommends because you risk causing a leak...which can happen up to even 30+ days out!!

I've posted my theory on this in another thread at some point I think @@Daisee68
I just think we see ourselves differently than every single other person does..
I don't mean mentally or anything...
    I mean physically...
We are THE ONLY ONE who sees us from the perspective that we do..
Ultimately, we view ourselves from the top(ish), looking down...
Everyone else sees us from the front/back/side/whatever...
Our view of ourselves is a completely unique angle..
Add the fact that these people don't see you every day and it's actually quite possible that these people don't recognise you..
So I say, good on you for being 'unrecognisable'...
    Use it to your advantage...
    Go out and run amok...
Call me if you get into trouble...
    I'll bail you out..

mmazzo got a reaction from mirVSG in Anyone keep the surgery under wraps?
I'm weird...originally I didn't want to tell anyone, but during the process, I found myself telling people anyway. Most of the people I've told, though, are my colleagues, who are medical professionals, so they've been supportive. My family, on the other hand, I didn't really want to tell. I wasn't even going to tell my 91 y.o. grandmother that lives with me...mainly because I didn't want her to worry, but my mil blabbed . So, I get the decision to keep it private! Whatever works for you! Take care!!

Wow....you all get actual food in your pre-op diet?!?! For 2 weeks prior, my surgeon puts you on Clear Liquids with the exception of they want you to drink enough Protein to meet your daily requirements (80-100g for women). He swears that if I can just get through the first four days, those are the worst. LOL

The first one is the only picture I have around my heaviest time. I'm guessing I was 330 ish in that picture. The second picture was last weekend with my daughter, I'm 230 in that picture. This was the best decision I've ever made. I can now enjoy life with my beautiful little girl!

mmazzo reacted to Megall9 in Did you eat on the 2week liquid diet?
No, I didn't cheat, and I won't. I start my pre op liquid diet this Sunday for two weeks, but I also had to complete a two week liquid trial diet prior to my first visit with my surgeon. I didn't cheat then, but it was by no means easy. It was a good trial to do though because now I know what I like, what works for me, and what Protein powders I enjoy. I know which pre made shakes I like, and I have a couple of tried and true Protein shake recipes to make in my blender.

I am determined not to cheat because I want to reduce my risks during surgery as much as I can. My surgeon only requires one week, but said two is better. So two weeks again it is!

Dude...if you're still succumbing to peer pressure at the age of 40...you have more issues than just needing weight loss surgery. Get a backbone, stay off the drugs, get some healthier/more mature friends and grow up already for your children's sake. At your age and as a parent, there are plenty of ways to "unwind" without doing cocaine.

My nutritionist gave me guidelines for my shakes, so I'm surprised you didn't receive something like that. Here are the guidelines I was given:
Minimum of 20 grams of Protein per serving Less than 8 grams of carbs with less than 2 grams of sugar, and a minimum of 3 grams of Fiber Less than 3 grams of fat Less than 200 calories per serving, best at 150 Whey isolate is preferable
