    Premier Protein...

The strawberry is ok, but the chocolate is definitely my favorite. Now, after surgery, has anyone had issues with drinking the Protein shakes? When I do, they feel like a lead balloon in my stomach and it takes me FOREVER to get through one...if I can. It's been harder for me to get through those than my puréed food. 2. Sorry if this topic is somewhere else, but I didn't have any luck when I searched it. I was sleeved on June 14th. I have a rough start and was in the hospital for 4 days, but since then, I think my recovery has been fairly normal. I'm still on puréed food and have been tolerating food fairly well (typically 2 oz Protein and 1-2 oz veggies). My energy isn't great, but it's getting better and I guess that will probably take time. My question is this...has anyone else experienced feeling like your brain is fuzzy and like you're mentally slow?? I legit feel stupid sometimes! LOL! I'm hoping this fog clears soon because I'm in grad school and I really don't have time for this nonsense! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post-op brain fuzziness

Thanks guys! It has gotten somewhat better as I've gotten more Protein in, but it just hasn't cleared as quickly as I would've thought. I'm going back to work in like a week and I dread having to work like this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Two week liquid diet

If you're really hungry, stay away from the cold stuff and try warm liquids like broth or even drink Water at room temp. It will help you to feel more satisfied. Trust me, I'm on day 8 and am becoming a pro! LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I've loved this thread! Read all 36 pages! LOL! How's everyone doing now? P.S. Reading this thread while doing my two weeks of Clear liquids (plus Protein shakes) was a little brutal, but the entertainment value was with the pain! How's everyone now?? Mirena removal

I would be skeptical that the Mirena is causing your weight problem. Yes, it has hormones, but they do not get absorbed systemically, like if you were on the pill. Therefore, in theory, the weight gain side effects would be less than with other hormonal birth control. Personally, I would take a closer look at what you're eating and exercise level. Gastric Sleeve / Day Surgery

Ugh, after hearing these stories, I'm glad my surgeon does the leak test while still in the OR! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. @"P7rancher" I'm in a similar boat as you. I'm having surgery on 6/14 and I'm supposed to travel to TX on the weekend of July 1st for my aunt's 100th birthday party. It would be difficult for me to back out because it is my grandma's sister and my grandma lives with me, so I have to take her. I have talked to my surgeon about it and though he is hesitant, he hasn't totally forbidden it yet. I have my 2-week post-op appointment the Tuesday before I go, so he said we could discuss it again then, depending on how I'm progressing. He also warned me that I'd probably still be feeling pretty rough, so I may not want to. I'm going into this with the mindset that I'm going to do everything I can to get on the road to recovery as quickly as possible. Good luck to you!! Let us know how you're doing! Day 1

I'm on day 8 (of 14) of a clear liquid diet (though allowed to drink Protein shakes) and I'm not going to lie to you, it BLOWS! I will say that broth and other warm liquids are your friends! Hang in there....by day 5 or 6, you should turn the corner and not feel as bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Lifting restriction

You should have gotten written discharge instructions before you left the hospital and it should be on there....or you could just give the office a quick call and ask. Mine says nothing more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. LisaMerg, you are correct. As a matter of fact, my surgeon tells you that unless it is a life-threatening emergency (chest pain, SOB, etc), then he wants you driving back to the ER in the hospital where he did your surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question about dumping

I have not experienced it, but dumping is actually an intended consequence of eating things that you shouldn't. I've had people, including medical professionals, say that it is something you might have happen to you once or twice, but you feel like you're going to die and it's so bad, that you never do that again. And there's nothing you can do to get rid of the symptoms, you just have to ride it out. Good luck and I hope it never happens to you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My Body Doubles as an Icebox

Oh good lord, I could not handle that! I'm originally from the Pittsburgh PA and I moved because I couldn't stand those winters! And yes, it is beautiful up by the Grand Canyon, but I wouldn't want to live up there because it gets too cold there too! I'll stay down here in the desert during winter.....if I never see snow again, it'll be too soon! LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op goals

If you are a meal skipper, have you thought about replacing that one meal with a Protein shake? My nutritionist recommended doing that from the beginning. For me, I used one for my Breakfast, but for you, perhaps that could be lunch instead. On the other hand, for lunch, I typically take leftovers from dinner the night before. My husband and I purposely cook some extra dinner so that I can pack my lunch when putting away dinner. It's easy and doesn't require a ton of thought! Hope these ideas help! Good luck! BEYOND frustrated

My nutritionist suggested setting a timer on my phone and like every 10 minutes when it goes off, take a small sip of Water (or your Protein shake). She recommended about only drinking a half ounce at a time. Perhaps get a medicine spoon and measure 15mL and try to drink that every 10-15 minutes. Hope that helps and you get some relief! Also, consider taking a little more time off, if possible. It sounds like you're not ready and risk making your condition much worse. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My Body Doubles as an Icebox

@StephanieSparklePants - I just wanted to say that your username made me LOL! Love it! Wish I were creative and could've come up with something fun like that when I was picking mine! You make me nervous about being cold though! For the 20+ years that my husband and I have been together, I have always joked that I think he's trying to freeze me out...I'm not looking forward to this getting worse! Luckily, I live in Phoenix, so during the summer, I'll be able to escape outside to the 100+ degree temps! Today it's supposed to be 118, so perhaps you should consider moving to the desert too! Best of luck! Molly Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. My friend that had her surgery almost exactly a year ahead of me warned me about the week 3 stall. She says to just keep going and do what you're supposed to do and it'll start coming off again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I need support!

Welcome! Like the other post said, we can be your support!! Also, don't be afraid to continue to talk with a counselor or psychiatrist during your journey. There is no shame in that and they can help with healthy strategies for dealing with the psychological ramifications that can go along with this journey.
