I didn't tell anyone except my mom and husband. I told everyone else I had a hiatal hernia repair. (Which I also had anyway) the scars, recovery and post op diet are similar. And I told everyone that I used the restrictive diet and the weight loss that followed as a springboard for further weight loss. Nobody questioned it.

    My standard response:
I eat 60-90 grams of Protein a day, I have pretty much eliminated bread, Pasta, potatoes, sugar and rice from my diet. I work out for at least an hour 5 days a week I work with a medical team and a trainer. I drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day.

All of that is true. None of it mentions my surgery but it enough that people go - oh - I could never give up . . . insert item here.
I told my husband, two teen daughters and two best friends. Did not tell my mother or my sister. I'm one year out next week.

I'm a almost 41 yr old mother of twin boys and have been hovering around 230-240 for 5 yrs. I did intensive ivf (4 rounds) & feel this has messed with my ability to lose weight. I've been big my whole life (10 pounder at birth). I will be self pay and don't want my husband to know I'm doing it (he would be against it). Im looking into Dr ganta in Austin TX. Any advice on recovery? What to expect? How long before heavy lifting (my boys are 50 and 30 lbs each and love being lifted)

twins2016 reacted to LipstickLady in How much can you eat years after the sleeve? how much does the sleeve stretch?
    OK.
But I dare say you're wrong. When a sleeve is done correctly, the fundus (the stretchy part) is removed leaving the muscle (the non stretchy part).
But what do I know? I'm almost 3.5 years out and can still only eat 1/2 - 3/4 cup.

I agree the activia. I had sleeve on 09.09, had my first poop without any laxatives or softeners on 9.19 but it wasnt "enough". On 9.23 i drank an activia yogurt (mango, yummy) and 2 hrs laters i was cleaned out.

I don't feel full the same way I did before. I burp and feel nausea and feel like the food is "sitting" in the bottom of my throat and just generally uncomfortable.I try to stop a couple bites before this feeling.

I just had surgery 9/13/16. So I know what it's like to have silly food questions pop up in your mind. This should be a comfortable place to ask these questions. There shouldn't be chicken heads running around making sarcastic comments to people who are asking honest questions.
And if you cackling hens don't like my petty response to your pettiness, all I can say is don't dish it out. I'm done going back and forth with you mean women. I have a pretty fine life outside of this thread.
Best of luck to the original creator of this thread.

twins2016 got a reaction from shelliluv in Sleeved 9/19 How are you feeling?
I was sleeved 09.09 and i felt the same way but honestly by day 5/6 i felt better and by day 7 felt normal. I didnt focus on pooping, i had a small poop on the 19th (first one since surgery) and didnt have one since until yesterday when i had some activia and within an hour pooped. I have been on clear and full liquids since surgery so wasnt expecting to poop right away and wanted to give my body time to rest and heal. I promise it gets better i wasnt able to drink much either and still can't but try. Hang in there guys!

Hmm.. Soup is a good idea. It's hard especially this early in the game since we are so restricted. Will you still be on clears? Maybe just sip tea and tell her you don't feel well because of nerves. If your diet allows the eggs I would just go for it. It's so weird how every surgeon has a different diet to follow.

I am a victim of this. I say victim because I always felt it was so f**king embarrassing. and doing everything I could do to hide it. it started when I started puberty oh so long ago. it is related to pcos and obesity. though I do not have pcos. never had diabetes either. but it is a warning that I would no doubt have developed diabetes in the future. I did a lot of research on my own, the doctor I saw as a teen didn't really say a lot. all he said was that it was related to childhood obesity and prescribed some cream that turned my affected body parts red, raw and painful. he said it may or may not go away when I was finished with puberty and or lost weight. what MinnesotaDreaming23 posted is all correct. I think it is on a person to person basis. but I can tell you that mine went away. I am 18 months post op. I noticed awhile ago that it was gone from my neck. I just looked last week and realized that for the first time in as long as I can remember my armpits are white. only someone with this condition can understand the feeling of that if they were as embarrassed as I was about having it.

Your work for now is done.
Take a deep breath and do-------absolutely nothing.
You have done the really hard part. You have recognized your obesity. You have taken responsibility for it and have acted. You have read , researched, listened and learned You have jumped through the hoops. You have done the pre-op diet. You completed all of the pre-op consults.
Now it is time to "let it go". It's your surgeon's turn to do his part of your bargain.
So, for tonight-- do-----absolutely nothing except get some sleep.
    And tomorrow? It gets real.
Meet you on, "The Losers' Bench".
    Now, GOOD NIGHT!
