I was also sleeved on the 21st and I thought I was going to die lol. I asked myself what did I get into. But I had to stop and think. I didnt come all this way to give up now. The first few days its hard. But it gets better everyday. Walk alot, dont stay in bed all day. One thing that works for me and keeps me going during this healing process is the scale. Everytime I weigh myself, the numbers are going down. This motivates me to stay on track and follow my doctors orders. Try to stay hydrated and try to get some Protein in. Good Luck and Happy healing!

I had my gallbladder out years ago, same type of surgery. They inflate your abdominal cavity with gas so they can see what they are doing in there. The gas really isn't in your stomach. I had terrible gas pain in my right shoulder, but it only lasted a couple of days. The BEST thing I found to get rid of it was walking.

Are you still in the hospital? If not - call your surgeon for advice. Make sure they've given you pain meds, a PPI for acid and an anti-nausea med. Try and get fluids in - take very small sips. Hot tea, warm broth, ice cold Water, sugar free popsicles - whatever you can tolerate. Hope you are doing better soon!

Gas pains are normal is what they told me. I found that walking helped me a lot,,,that and medication of course. It was actually a problem for a month and I just took medication faithfully. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Take care.

Hey guys...it has been a while since I posted. Life has been great. I've actually become this fitness fanatic. I love working out now...never saw that coming. My RNY changed my life and I'm so grateful. Still have a ways to go but I'm so happy with my progress. Starting weight 519lbs...surgery weight 428lbs...current weight 262lbs[emoji123]

I agree support is needed. It's a huge journey and I fully believe I will need help (I have 2 small kids haha) My mom and husband and ome cousin know. I asked my mom to not tell anyone. But she said she couldnt do that, she couldnt lie for me.

Debby. Support is paramount. I am a proud man and do not lean or rely on people very often but for this it was needed. I have met several others who have made this decision and have already been through it. They, along with my wife have been my rocks. I never thought I needed anyone other than myself but this journey has shown me the truth.

The only people that know that I will be doing VSG are my husband, my mom, dad and sister. Thankfully, my parents and sister support my decision and agree with me to keep this between us. My mom is my biggest cheerleader and she even wants me to stay with her the first week so she can help me. I'm having a hard time getting my husband on board. He doesn't understand why can't I just do it the nonsurgical way. Hopefully I get him on board by the time my surgery date approaches. At the end of the day, I have to do this for myself. I must say, if I didn't have support, I probably wouldn't have gone through with this. With that said, tell at least one person. Support is needed during this journey.
