Slimliz reacted to jackbh in May 16th surgery buddies?.....Let's do this together!
Hey thanks for the invite. My surgery is on the 17th and I'm on day 4 of the pre op diet. Mine too is all liquid but I am allowed lowfat greek yogurt that after a day full of Protein shakes is like freaking manna! Mentally I'm doing pretty well with all of this. I had to feed the kids some meatballs last night that my wife made and they smelled awesome but I only touched them to feed to the kids. Tuesday was my first day which was also my wifes birthday so there was dinner with family at an all you can eat chinese buffet and then cake and ice cream at home afterwards. The temptations weren't that overwhelming, so far. I've only been getting in like 500-550 cals a day so far but I'm not really that overwhelmingly hungry. My mindset is psyched about this whole thing and I'm focusing on what I have to do a day at a time instead of thinking too much about how long I'll have to do this. I also focus on the goals of being able to take the kids to Disneyworld next year and all the other activities that I'll be able to do with them. Like being able to fit in an airplane seat, not getting winded playing with them, being able to buy and wear nice clothes. Being able to get in good work outs, maybe getting back to running. Being able to have a better life with my wife than this weight allows. And so much more. I think focusing on this stuff is what is helping to make this pre op diet a little easier to deal with. So God bless all of ya and good luck on your surgery.

Met with my surgeon at OSU (Dr. Needleman) this morning, as well as the dietician. I go in for pre op meeting and bloodwork with the anesthesiologist on the 18th. Surgery is scheduled for May 25th! Hard to believe after all this time, it's actually only a week and a half to D-day. Excited and nervous at the same time.

Slimliz reacted to Dub in Anyone morbidly obese and considering the gastric sleeve?
BMI of 58 when I started the pre-op process.
Now it's 36, 7 months postop. 180+ lbs lighter now with much more to go.
Feeling great.

I started with a BMI of 60. I had the Sleeve 10 months ago, and life is awesome now.

Slimliz reacted to Christinamo7 in Oh my gosh! Read "complications" thread and now terrified!
yes, there is a risk, but the vast majority do not have complications. only you can decide if it is worth the risk.
I knew obesity would kill me, sooner rather than later. not much math to do there, it was a guarantee. so, I took the risk and so far, the worst thing I've had to deal with is Constipation and the hots for my husband. and everything about my health and day to day life is improved. I love my sleeve.

Hey everyone!
Is anyone sharing their journey through other social media - insta, youtube, Facebook?
Also, I'm really interested in doing a Texas WLS Meet-Up later this year. Would anyone be interested? I see other regions having meet-ups on social media.

Slimliz reacted to JennsJourney in 3 Months Post-Op!
I'm finally seeing a difference in my body! I'm 3 months post-op as of today and I'm down 74 lbs. I'm staring to feel "normal" again and I'm loving it. I took a picture this weekend and was finally able to see some of my progress. We have to Celebrate all along the way!

Slimliz reacted to LibrarianBecky in I broke down and puréed some meat...
And it was awesome!
I have been resisting puréeing meat--just the idea of it grosses me out. I made a delicious smelling pork loin for dinner for my family though, and decided I would try to blend it with some broth. It was basically the consistency of tuna or ham salad....not terribly appetizing, but not horrible either. I didn't care how it looked, though because it tasted amazing! I puréed a small amount of steamed green Beans as well, which were also delicious.
It is probably a mental thing, but it was so much more satisfying to me to have the same food as my family. I even puréed up some of the leftovers for me to eat over the next couple of days. So, if you are resisting puréeing meats, like I was, give it a try!

Slimliz reacted to Cervidae in Scale Won't Budge!
Stalls are normal and necessary! We've all worried about them. I had more than average, most likely due to my PCOS, and I was here making similar posts, scared that I would be stuck at whatever weight I was forever. In fact, I have a 2-3 week stall every month, that's just my body's "normal". And yet, here I am less than 9 months later and down 143 pounds since surgery. It all adds up, and worrying about it is just needless and adversely affects your mental and physical health anyway. Just keep up with your Water intake, Protein, and Vitamins, and soon you'll feel silly for ever worrying about this.
