Elle09 got a reaction from Dejaalex in Maryland sleevers?!
Well I am sleeved! The surgery went well. I had major issues with nausea. The meds at first were not giving me relief, but they ended up putting a patch on and that made a difference.
The pain is pretty tolerable so no real issues in fact I did not come home with the pump. Really only one incision is sore. The other ones I hardly even feel. I am finding out my heating pad is very comforting and soothing.
After surgery getting up walking really helps to wake your system and get the gas moving. I also found that someone running my back ( like a baby) helped with the gas.
    Overall I am doing fine.

Elle09 got a reaction from KristenLe in Puréed Stage: what are you eating?
I made egg salad and it was pretty good and tolerable. Also turkey chili, cauliflower Soup using riced cauliflower and blended Beans to use as a base with some bone broth added. I am slowly experimenting to keep the next few weeks interesting. My NUT encouraged us to stay away from baby food and we were given an extensive list and ideas of what we should eat going through the nutritional classes.

Elle09 reacted to PissiChrissi in Trouble deciding between Sleeve or Bypass....why did you choose bypass?
I started with a bmi of 66 and opted for sleeve based on my research and testimonials from friends and family. Dumping syndrome sounds like something I never want to experience. I also know people who got bypass who still years later aren't able to eat raw veggies. I understand that everyone's experience is different but it seems that more people have issues with bypass. The other deciding factor was the lose skin situation. You lose a little slower with the sleeve so you have a better fighting chance with less lose skin. For most of us it's just unavoidable, however if there's anything I can do to circumvent it, I'm gonna!

    I had my VSG surgery on 7/29/2015. I'm 10 months post op, down 132lbs (including 50lbs lost pre-op). I'm 5'7", goal weight is 160-170.
Weight loss has really slowed the past two months, but I'm trucking on!

I was sleeved 4/22. I'm down 30 lbs (lost 10 pre-op). I was on liquids the first 3 weeks, started pureed foods last Friday and at my 1 month check up tomorrow I should go to soft foods.
It's been an interesting ride so far. The weight fell off the first couple weeks and has been slow this last week or so. However, I'm in clothes I have not worn in 2+ years, so that's making me happy :-). Also, since going to pureed my energy is way up. I'll be starting back at my gym on Monday and was wondering if I'd make it through the hour workout, now that my energy is back I'm excited to get back to it.

I am so happy to see that I am not alone! I have been stalled all week and getting discouraged. My head hurts constantly, I feel puffy, & I have not been able to lose in days. Looks like that is somewhat normal maybe? Let's not get discouraged, we can do this!

I hit a stall all last week too. Finally emerged from it today. I think my stall is mainly because I'm just sitting at home recovering. I took May off to recover. I think once I'm more active it will get better. Same problem with breaking out and also didn't get my period this month (though it's been a bit weird last several months due to weight fluxuation). I can also eat anything and have cheated a little but not much. I'm finding I'm hungry and trying to satiate my hunger w Premier Protein shakes when I can. I made a trip to trader Joe's today and picked up some noms. I'm down 38lbs total so far (27 of that from pre opp diet). I can't wait to REALLY start losing!! Hello group. I was sleeved 4/20. I'm 38 yrs old. I've stalled. My face broke out and I haven't gotten my period this month. My hormones are out of whack and the headaches have started. I can eat anything without problem though. Cheated a little. Not much. Trying not to worry and stay positive and focus on Protein and Water. Where did my butt go? I want my booty back!!

I have lost 25 lbs since surgery 28 April 2016. Overall I am doing well. I am struggling a bit with the Vitamins and struggling a bit with Water intake. I am feeling energy slowly coming back and cannot wait to go back to Zumba.
It is nice trying on clothes and fitting comfortably in them.
I have also noticed that my taste buds have changed since surgery.

Thought I'd share some before and after pics. The before pic is the first day of school and the after pic is today. I wore the same shirt to work today as I did the first day of school (I'm a teacher) but it was noticeably bigger/ loose on me.

sure I will support you. I went to my seminar a few weeks ago and have my first appointment with my surgeon next tuesday. My insurance requires the 6 month thing so hopefully I will get my surgery in December before the New Year. I have also done an insane amount of research. Right now I am totally addicted to youtube videos and following people's journeys. I'm trying to decide if I have the courage to post on youtube or not. I am 44 and I also don't have any kids but that is because I had to have a hysterectomy at 35 so didn't get a chance. I have two small dogs and their names are Allegra and Lunesta because I am a pharmacist.
I am headed out the door right now to go to dinner and tell a good friend about my surgery. I am almost positive she will be supportive. Wish me luck!

Hello. I'm new to Bariatric Pal and am so grateful to have found this site. I am just starting the process to get the sleeve and would love to have a few pals to go through this with. I'm 100% sure I'm going to have the surgery. I just don't know the when yet. I guess that's up to my insurance and surgeon. I'm only on the first step, which is a seminar about the process. I've done a lot, and I mean, a LOT of research so I don't really have any questions, (not that I'm a know it all, just a Googler.) I would just like someone to maybe message when I want to talk about the sleeve after my nonsleeve friends are looking at me with that dead "you've already said this" look in their eyes. And I want to be supportive too!
    Fun facts about me:
    I'm 36
No kids, want em, don't hate em
I have two cats I adore, Tony Danza and Morgan Freeman
    I Like to grow tomatoes
I crochet stuffed toys, but not clothing
I'm afraid of centipedes due to one fateful evening involving one in my pants
I love cheese and will never give it up but am willing to negotiate moderation
I have a lot of weight to lose and am 100% ready to lose it and more importantly I'm working on the mental reasons I got here to begin with.
    I'm friggin stoked!

Here's a little follow up since my original post!!
I am now almost 3 week post op! I feel fantastic! In my original post I was so nervous about my sons class trip to the zoo that was 2 weeks post op. Well I had no problem going on that trip last week. I had energy to keep up. I just started pureed that day so I packed extra Water with me and kept sipping all day and a yogurt for lunch time. I took a few spoonfuls of yogurt and was fine. No one else thought anything of it. The following day I had plans with a friend for my son and I to come over for a pizza play date. We went and I just said i was on a special diet brought a yogurt with me and declines the wine for water due to my "diet".
The first few days post op were tiring but after day 3 or 4 I was raring to go. For me meal times were a little tough bc I do have 3 small children to prepare meals for. Breakfast and lunch were no big deal. dinner was hard to make and sit down with my bowl of broth but it was short lived and it gets easier each day. So far I'm very happy with my decision to get sleeved.
As far as keeping the secret to yourself it can be done and I wouldn't worry about anyone else. I'm talking about dieting and exercise with friends so hopefully it just looks like that's where he weight loss came in to play.
My advice is just to be confident and this is our story we don't have to live an open book for the world to know.
Negative people will make comments whether they no or not so just be confident in yourself and don't let anyone else get in your head!
Cheers to you all! Good luck on your journey!! ❤️❤️❤️
