Good luck to you both in your journeys. This was a good decision for me to go through with the surgery.

Hey! I'm in Hyattsville, I'm getting sleeved (fingers crossed) at Shady Grove Medical Center with Dr.Greene, the director of bariatric surgery. How far along are you in your journey?

It does get better, sometimes I had to choose between my pain meds or my Vitamins. Or between Water or food but you live and learn and it will get better.

    A Little More Explanation....
I really didn't think that anyone would reply so I kept my statement brief. I wanted to add a little more about my thoughts and why I am doing what I am doing. Thanks so much for all your replies. I noticed when I was starting my pre-surgery diet, it was a low carbohydrate diet. I had not tried this in years since I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 7-8 years. Before vegetarianism, I actually lost quite a bit of weight on the low carbohydrate diet. I started doing some research on "creative" ways to do my pre-surgery diet and still maintain the vegetarian status. Unfortunately, this seemed to rule out a LOT of food which left me with basically, shakes and vegetable broth, and the rare sugar free Popsicle. I ordered some sugar-free vegetarian Gelatin, only to find out that that had a lot of carbs as well! I would like to set up a questionnaire for those willing to answer questions. All on an anonymous basis! My email is micahsvsg@gmail.com.
Again, thanks for the input and insight. I have learned a lot. I joined the Facebook group and plan to post there as well.
By-the-way, Elle09, I use Isopure. It is supposed to be flavorless. It isn't bad. I actually mix it with an Atkins strawberry shake in the morning after my run. I was sleeved on 04/18 and haven't been very hungry so, this allows me 40 g of Protein at one time. I find that if you freeze it a bit, it tastes like ice cream (or to me it does). Later, I usually drink a GNC vanilla bean shake which has 25 g of Protein. Both are vegetarian.

So, only WLS people can understand this- I missed sizes. Literally! Blew right past most of 20 and 18! Lol. Shopping today for MUCH needed pants/ shorts (!!!) I found myself in 16's. Wohoo! Long way to go still-72 lbs. but just WOW!
This has been discussed before, but yesterday went to put on my FAVORITE white Capri jeans. I almost mourned them as I held them literally 10 inches from my stomach not to mention my legs swimming in them.

Hello! I had gastric sleeve surgery. I took two full weeks off from work. Although I have a desk job I have to at times walk to different buildings for meetings. I was glad I took two weeks. The first week primarily to heal and the second week to really concentrate on the nutrition guidelines. My surgery went well, but I had some issues with the anesthesia which caused major nausea issues. As far actual pain I did very well with the pain. I had only one incision that was angry and by the end of the first week at home it was not angry. I only used the pain meds(diluaded) only once when I first got home. I literally only took one pill one night when I was uncomfortable and having difficulty sleeping. I would say that there was more discomfort with the gas pains. I did struggle with low energy, but I think that is natural and common.
Good luck on your journey and there is a lot of good information here.

I make my egg salad like Elle above but also add a splash of vinegar and a dash of paprika to make a "deviled" egg salad.

    Update:
I was cut open and drained lots of that abscess.... Took a while to get everything out and it was so unpleasant stinky and painful at times even though they numbed me. Staying overnight for observation. I am already slightly relieved. Hopefully it will be better from now on!
Thanks all for prayers and support!

@ Be careful with baby food - my NUT doesn't recommend it because it's not as Protein rich and often has hidden sugars.

Anything that facilitates the meeting of different people will leave drama in it's wake. This is especially true of online forums where people can 'hide' behind a computer and not actually have to face the sh*t they stir up. We all just have to absorb what we need, leave whatever we can give, and ignore what we don't like. Utopias do not exist.

You're missing my point. No one was rude or mean. YOU are the only one name calling. In my original post, I simply warned you about the danger of strawberry seeds. But hey, if that makes me a b!tch, so be it. As a host of this forum, I'd ask that you refer to the policies of this forum and refrain from name calling and personal attacks. That behavior will not be tolerated.

As hard as the struggle was to get to the point to have surgery the various appointments, the supervised weight management program, the required two week pre-op liquid diet (in which I did not cheat; I stuck to the plan) all of this to have a successful surgery. To go through the surgery and not follow the doctors orders nor my NUTs advice and guidance is just something I would not do.
Everyone here has struggled. The struggle is real with most if not all with our relationship with food.
I cannot say I am a perfect person but when I made a decision to go this path I had to commit myself to struggle through the demons and stay on track. Many others have done the same. I am sure there will be struggles down the road once I am completely on my own...no doc or NUT to hold me accountable but this early on while I have access to medical support and advice I will and recommend follow their guidance. It truly is for the best.
Sometimes when we struggle we need someone to be straightforward. There is a difference between struggling and making what appears to be a clear cut decision to go against doctors orders. All of us here have been through similar situations.
    No judgement!

When I had surgery the nausea was ridiculous. The meds in the IV were was doing very little to ease it. The docs did put a patch on me and it made a difference. It does get better.

It is most likely dehydration. Some laxatives may cause orange colored urine as well but it's more likely dehydration. Sediments is concerning. Let us know what the Dr says.

Thanks for your advice. I'm slowly getting to a place where I don't care about the opinions of others, especially regarding my choice to get surgery.
I still haven't told a lot of people close to me because I fear their judgment or they will try to talk me out of it.

Congratulations on your decision, I think people who make an informed decision to have wls are brave! I have not been 23 for a while but what I will say what I know now I would have made a decision to have surgery a long time ago, but there is a time and place for everything and I am truly glad I made a decision to have the surgery.
Having the surgery is allowing me to lose the weight on my own I just have a tool, I have recieved some good nutritional guidance to assist me in this journey and I have addressed some overlooked health issues through this process. I don't feel guilty I feel empowered.
I think at any age people deal with some negativity surrounding weight loss surgery and I chalk it up to ignorance.
My decision to have wls was about me and my quality of life. I would tell you make the best decision for you and feel good about your decision and ignore the negativity.
