  1. How do you know how many calories a day you eat? Will the dietician have me record eveything? Is this how you know? And do you have to keep track forever?
  2. So I had my upper GI done today, YUCK! not fun! And as I'm drinking down the chalky stuff, the doc comes in and is like"whoa! This is going to be fast, this stuff is going right through you! Most people it takes an hour or up to three hours to get as far as mine got in 10 minutes! When I told them what kind of surgery I was having, she's says no wonder you are overweight, you eat too much b/c food doesn't stay in your stomach for long at all, you must always be hungry! It goes right through! Needless to say she wasn't kidding, I was passing the stuff before I left the hospital, they said that would happen for a day or so. Does this sound strange to anyone? I thought it was quite interesting. What were your tests results like?
  3. I was reading the post about flunking the shrink eval, and I was wondering if everyone told the WHOLE story. I don't plan to, I"ve been through a world of s*** but I don't think he needs to know that. I'm sticking to fat topics only! I know what makes me fat, I eat too much and I"m NEVER full! So do you tell the whole truth during your eval and risk flunking?
  4. U all are awesome! I know the bene's out weigh the risks, and I wanna be there for my girls when they get older, i wanna play with them outside and not feel so tired. I kow this will be the right thing, I really think I'm greiving bottom line, it's like I"ll be losing my best friend KWIM?
  5. All my doc requires is a 2 day full liquid diet. And I hear some that require none and some that have to do it for two weeks? WHy are they all so differnt?
  6. I"m in my presurgical stages, getting my upper GI tomorrow, dietician Monday and shrink Tuesday, and then I can make my surgery date. After reading a lot of these posts about complications and changes I think I"m misinformed. I knew about extra extra chewing, but I kinda thought I'd be eating relatively the same just MUCH smaller portions. Is the dietician really going to help me with what i should be eating and how many carlories I should consume daily? I"m so confused? I"m a little worried about the upper GI, b/c I have a history or reflux but mostly when I'm pregnant. They said that I have to have a good working esophagus, but what if banding causes MORE reflux? I think reflux is AWEFUL!!! I'd rather have labor pains! I guess I'm thinking I don't know how much my life is going to change and how much more aware I'm going to have to be about what i put in my mouth instead of eating blindly. I guess I'm worried about any discomfort while eating and all the complications that can go along with this. How can I prepare more? Any advice b/c I just feel lost!
  7. I'm confused what is this and what causes this? I'm in my presurgical stages right now..
  8. I actually went to the day one seminar w/ Dr Galvani, and wasn't impressed. All the things you said in your post are true, and I really didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling. I felt like it was a assembly line of lap bands, in and out, bye bye. The after care sounds like the most important to me, and I don't feel that from them, this is all IMO, and I know you said the cost is cheaper, but it's your life and well being, can't put a price tag on that can you? I have an appt. to see a Dr. Woody Denham he's out of Evanston and Highland Park. He comes highly recommended. I wish you luck, I know it's been hard for me too.
  9. I know some of you have used him, what does he require before operating? How did you like him? I"ve heard his really nice and one of the best. Just wanted any feedback about him, I have a consult appt. 3-6-08, I'm SO excited!
  10. I'm inlove with zappos.com, you can put in the type of shoe you want and the size you are looking for and only the shoes in that size will come up, so you don't have to go through them all. PLUS it's free shipping there and back! Can't beat that!
  11. WOW, one time I had surgery when I was pregnant, they gave me Reglan, an anti nausea med in my IV that made me crazy! I started to panic, think that what I'm doing will kill my baby (i had to have my gallbladder out) (she's fine) and it was so weird. My mind started to race and turn and spin and the thoughts i had were unreal! Then they gave me something else, and I was like whatever! So from now on, any surgeries I have I say NO Reglan! I wonder if they gave that to you and thats what made all the crazy thoughts????
  12. Anyone who lost a good amount of weight drop a shoe size? I was always an 11, and then after I had my first DD and my weight climbed I became a 12. Sometimes I can wear a 11W depending on the shoe. I was wondering if maybe I'd go back down to an 11, It's much easier to find 11's than there is to find 12's. Just curious......
  13. Sat. the 16th can work for me, can we meet a little more north maybe? I"m not sure where most of you are, maybe Old Orchard area? Again, not sure where you all are. And what time was everyone thinking?
  14. I'm preband and I don't get it....why will it take me so long to eat everything?
  15. After I have my surgery, I"m concerned that the stretched skin and the "apron" of fat that hangs down onto my legs will still be there? I've had 2 kiddos, my last one only 7 months ago. The doc I've seen so far, and I didn't like, said that anywhere there are stretch marks, that skin will continue to hang? Is this true? I"m my heaviest in my belly, and butt and thighs, I have that pear shape I guess? anyone have any help or had the same problem? I'm not expecting a flat tummy by any means, but it will go down right?
  16. Hi I"m waiting on my band approval and would LOVE to get to know some people in my area. I'll drive ANYWHERE! I'm one of those people that love the support of other people. I"m up in Lindenhurst/Gurnee Mills area. I'm trying to decide on where to get my band done. I"m went to a seminar SAturday at Day One Health with Dr. Galvani, wasn't throughly impressed, and have been reading on here about Dr. Denham in HP or Evanston, which is much closer for me. SO where do you all meet and when? ~Katie
