  1. I know there are a bunch of posts already about Keto from last year, however they are really all over the place. Has anyone done Keto, OR a low carb diet that made them get out of a stall, and lose weight after that? I had gastric bypass in May, and only lost 40 pounds total. I am in desperate need of a jump start. I was thinking of doing the protein shake liquid diet to jump start weight loss for 3 days, and then start a low carb/keto diet. Anyone have suggestions, or any experience with this? Thanks in advance!
  2. I know I will get a few people who will give me **** for this post but I really dgaf. Post surgery, after you smoke or drink, (whatever is your poisen), what do you eat when you get the muchies? Carrots? Cheese? Nuts? Veggies? Chicken? Jello? Pudding? We need to stay healthy, so has anyone experienced this before, and if so, what did you eat? Thanks in advance for all the non Judgemental peeps!

  6. hi all! I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on May 30th, and 6 weeks in I only lost 17 pounds from surgery day so far. preop highest: 260, Surgery Day: 241, CW: 224 Is anyone else having issues? I am getting my 60 g of protein, 64 oz of water, and walking more (maybe 2-3 miles a day). I am getting SO frustrated when I see others at 6 weeks down 20-50 pounds. Any suggestions, or similar issues?

    Sleeve to Bypass?

You should look into the bypass, the sleeve didn't work for me due to surgeon error, but I am happy I got the bypass (even though i am not losing as fast as I hoped, if you see the above post)

    Sleeve to Bypass?

What was your starting weight? I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on May 30th, and I am only down 17 pounds, and getting extremely frustrated. Preop highest: 260 Surgery day: 241 Current weight: 224 I am 28, 5 ft 4
  10. started eating soft protein like chicken and fish and sometimes it comes right back up. I bet I am not chewing it enough.

One Month Post Op-Is it just me?

just found this post Temple, how are things going?
  14. I’m nearly a month out from my revision surgery, and I don’t think I am doing well. I feel restriction somewhat, but it’s strange because I rarely feel hungry and/or full. Is this normal? I get so confused because I know I need to eat, but I don’t get hungry. I’m getting in my protein (60g) but not my water (about 32oz vs 64oz), and I started surgery at 240 on May 30th, and I only lost 10 pounds since then. I am finishing up purred stage, and start soft food next week. Is weight loss slower after a revision, am I driving myself mad? I already had a failed sleeve, maybe it’s just my anxiety that the bypass will fail to. I have a month check up this week so hopefully he can fill me in. But, do you guys have any input?

    Soda after gastric sleeve?

I was never a soda person, but it actually physically hurts. I would stay away. If you really want it- let it go flat.
  16. In hospital clear liquids, day you leave hospital full liquids for a week. Puréed for a month, soft food for a month, then regular diet. All docs are different though.

    Slow losers

I'm in the same boat as you. I should of learned my lesson weighing myself every day when I had the sleeve, and after the revision to bypass I was doing well just once or twice a week. Now, I am into the same routine of weighing myself every day and it is so frustrating. From surgery on May 30th, to today June 26th, almost a month post op I only lost 10 pounds. I feel like so many other are losing at a faster rate. I know its not good to compare, but some days I feel helpless like this will be another failed surgery =/ so your not alone!

    Does the attention bother you?

Absolutely hated the attention! I wasn’t used to it, and I would find myself socially drinking more to deal with the anxiety. It also messed me up in the head because I would always think, wow people treat me so much nicer now. Holding open doors, asking how my day is, random strangers smiling at me in the street. Is that what life is like on the other side of fat? It was glorious, until I realized all of that and then I just got depressed. Took me awhile to find a happy medium. I’m sure all of us notice things, I especially notice now people on the train (nyc mta) didn’t used to sit next to me cause I spilled over, and now they do. Don’t let it get in your head too much!! I started gaining the weight back-and things went right back to how they used to be and it was horrible. Stay positive and don’t let people drag you down. It’s not worth it.
  19. Hi all! So, I'm week 3 into my pureed food stage and I'm BORED! My diet is one month pureed, one month soft, and then regular food. I've been eating greek yogurt, hummus, eggs, mashed bananas, almond milk, sugar free pudding, sugar free Popsicles, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (I did the notorious ricotta bake, I didn't really like it), and sometimes I will have a creamed soup. I have been spooning on occasion other things like guacamole, or rice pudding (both pureed with no chunks), but I still am craving other things! Does anyone have additional suggestions? I just want ideas for quick snacks, or things to make with less than 5 ingredients. I do not have much time to cook meals. Please help! My taste buds are crying.

6 days post op ds surgery

To answer the second part of your question, fluids are 10x more important then protein at this point. I am 3 weeks out, and severely dehydrated and it is not fun.

    Cost of surgery

My sleeve was 17K, and my bypass was around 20K, I had both fully covered by insurance so my out of pocket expenses were a couple hundred,

    Post op alcohol

I had the sleeve and now I have the bypass. First time around I drank 3 months post op. I Avoided beer, and any carbonated beverages like the PLAGUE. that s h i t HURTS! So no vodka, soda, or rum and coke. I used to drink vodka, with sugar free cranberry juice ( brought some to the bar in a flask LOL), vodka water with lemon and lime, and my favorite was white wine. Also, any clear liquor straight or on the rocks. Now, after the bypass my surgeon said I should again wait 3 months, but she strongly suggests a year to not inhibit weight loss. Ugh, I do miss my drinks!! Good luck, and keep us posted on what you decide and how it effects your sleeve.

    April Bypass Updates?!

2 months out I definitely would not be eating any type of carb like pretzels and crackers. If you need a salty/crunchy a handful of nuts is definitely better. You want to make sure all of what you eat has protein in it, and low carbs and sugar, which you probably know. Don't get discouraged, I am sure your experiencing the cycle of hearing other peoples positive comments, not feeling the same, getting down, eating things your not supposed to, getting upset at yourself for doing that, hearing other peoples positive comments, etcc.... it goes on and on. Try to change this habit now. Good luck!!! You can do this! Also, how much faster do you expect to lose the weight! You are doing great!!!!

    April Bypass Updates?!

got my bypass revision on 4/30, SW on surgery day was 242, HW was 260, CW now is 232. So I only lost 10 lbs since surgery. Not sure whats going on, probably in a stall. Still on pureed foods, but I see the surgeon for my one month post op on the 28th, maybe he can shed some light. I am getting my protein in, but definitely not my water. Maybe that's the issue? Anyone else struggling?
