Good for you! I started low bmi as well. I had run out of motivation to diet anymore. Every single time I gained it back. I knew over time I was only going to get heavier, so I went through with the surgery with a BMI of 29. Best decision EVER! Lower BMI patients typically have less complications, which was huge for me. The weight flew off and I hit my goal right at my 4 month post op mark (a couple of weeks ago). It's still coming off, too. Not sure where my weight will level off, but I feel amazing! I can't say enough good things about just nipping it in the bud, when possible, and not wait until you are older, heavier, and have possibly more comorbidities.

I have a "low" bmi but gained 40 lbs in the last 12 years while trying unsuccessfully to diet and excersize. My mother followed similar path and now is 70 morbidly obese high blood pressure you name it. This tuns in our family and Ive decided I am not going to wait. I consider this a proactive sleeve. Still I have my doubts but for the first time in 20 years im not stressed about my weight or my future weight. I feel like I have made a decision to take control. I watched my mom suffer her entire life and I don't want that. I found a great doc in texas ... Who understood why I wanted to do this. He said research shows once your 40 lbs overweight there is only a 5 percent chance I would permanently lose that weight. People lose but most gain it back plus.

I was just wondering all this information! I've read that people get restriction when moving on to solids but wasn't sure the type of journey they've had. I've progressed through clears, full liquid and now on puréed without feeling restriction or any complications, I stop after a few tablespoons or 2 oz because that's what I was told and I have no hunger so no point to eat more than that! It's nice to read about people having a similar experience as me.

Wow, really, I should have guessed that, JNT1, but it makes sense. In a way I look forward to some restriction, because the lack thereof was certainly part of what got me here in the first place. I like the idea of a built in governor.

Thank you so much for the encouragement because I too have lost focus just 4 1/2 months out. Don't want to slip into old habits again. Sent from my SM-N900V using the BariatricPal App

I would not reduce your Water intake. It could make things much worse. Be sure to limit your sodium intake this weekend and drink plenty of Water. Good luck!

The surgery center where I'm having my sleeve procedure has axed the lap band procedure from their list completely, not an option.

I think doctors that still insert gastric band are opening themslves up to a legal nightmare. The band is dangerous and has so many negative side effects. Its a very scary device that is painted as so easy and simple...very misleading.

With the high number of Banders out there with serious issues I would think there has to be a law firm somewhere just licking their lips getting ready to file a Class action lawsuit.

Its so good to finally read a comment using kilos! Every post i read i have to convert all the time from pounds to kilos. It would be great if the US used the same weight measurements as the other 6.5 billion people in the world ???? 9 kilos since your surgery sounds like a result to be proud of!
It's a big step to have the surgery, so dont beat yourself up about a bite of cheescake. Just remember before surgery you would have had a whole piece of cheesecake and maybe seconds? !
It is never to late to 'get back on track' and start recording your intake and getting exercise....you've had your recovery time so now its time to get to work on the job of losing weight.
Good luck with your journey, and just dont beat yourself up for slip ups along the way!

Ok. I admit it. I've never been to a goodwill store. I've had them
Pick things up, and I've dropped off to Salvation Army.
Are the prices really good? Quality?? I hate sounding like a snob- I'm not- but the Salvation Army stores are just plain yuck. The clothes are all musty smelling and often dirty still.
Is it worth it? Tips and tricks? I'm
Only 2 weeks post op today and my yoga pants are falling off me. And I need more tops!

I don't think that it was too much of a problem, the adhesions were apparently harder to sort out. My surgeon said that hiatus hernia are common in Bariatric patients.

Love that! It's a great way to see! I measure every 2 weeks and cut a ribbon to the amount of inches lost. My ribbon is 4 feet long so far! That's pretty exciting to see too! I'm going to do the jars for the weight lost though!

Shopping is my reward . I plan on setting a goal weight and when I get there I'm gonna clear my closet out and get some nice new clothes I'm only 2 days post op so I have a ways to go. I've never been one for mani/pedi but who knows that might change now that I can't find my reward in food like I've always done before

Bring your own Protein shakes with you, the ones in the hospital are awful. Bring slip on shoes and comfy clothes. Bring a nice warm blankie for comfort. It takes about 3 weeks for major pain to subside.

Abdominal pain is one of the most common and vexing problems after gastric bypass. Anywhere from 15-30% of patients will visit the emergency room or require admission within three years of gastric bypass, and abdominal pain is the primary complaint in over half of these cases. This sharp stomach pain can be caused by a range of problems. This article might point you in the right direction. This may be a problem that you want to discuss with your surgical staff.
