Why is "see a therapist" the answer to everything for some people? I mean, there's nothing wrong with seeing a therapist, but it's not the end all be all to life.

There are lots of times when it's sound advice. Other times, though, it amounts to "You have a lousy life situation. The miracle of therapy will help you find a way to continue with it." Sometimes I get the feeling that the advice-givers are like people who attend funerals, don't know what to say and invariably offer the most awkward, sometimes appalling, comments. Bless their hearts.
