The issue isn't so much eating food that might be detrimental to your weight loss, but rather eating food that could cause serious and immediate health problems because of a healing stomach. To a certain extent, it is entirely the responsibility of the individual. But beyond that, others who may not have received a proper education as to how and what to eat immediately post op may see something like this, figure it's okay, and then do damage to themselves while thinking they were safe.
So yeah, if someone is determined to eat something they shouldn't, it's on them. But if they are leading others astray, that becomes a different issue. Besides, if you are going to do something stupid, and then post about it on the internet, you should not be surprised when you receive criticism or worse for it.

Something has occurred to me several times when people post to lament or brag about their dumb moves. In my experience, such things have come up only in BP. Never at the many support group meetings I've attended in over seven years or in the now-defunct band groups within sparkpeople.com did anyone ever speak of such poor thinking or apparently total ignorance or stupidity. There were plenty of people who were confused or misunderstood something, but none ever took polls or collected opinions as a way to give them permission to be idiotic.

Completely agree with the advice from Babbs and OutsideMatch. One thing I will add is that if you are trying to calculate the calories you burn from exercise and give yourself permission to "eat back" those calories, stop. Most calculations of calories burned turn out to be wildly optimistic, and there is even some evidence that when people start exercising, they start gaining weight because they eat more. So, keep exercising, it is great for your health, but do not count on it to either help with weight loss or let you eat more. That is accomplished by being incredibly strict with what you eat and accounting for every calorie.
I have been in the process of losing what I gained over the holidays and at 3+ years out it is hard work. I am restricting my eating to unprocessed meat, eggs, green veggies, and small amounts of dairy. I would fail miserably on a liquid diet and I don't recommend it. Good luck!

No one really post-op from the sleeve should do liquids to get back on track. Liquids offer zero restriction or satisfaction. If you need a reset just dense Protein is best and it will remind you of your restriction.
Whenever you start working out from an absense, you are going to gain because your muscles that you haven't been using are swelling and breaking up and rebuilding.
If you aren't over eating and tracking your food. There is no reason to freak about your weight.

Early in my lapband career I was able to buy a full-sized bag or tortilla chips or similar and weight out either one of one-half ounce and be happy. Then came the day when the amounts which fit nicely into my day's intake didn't work for me. I began to hit the bag again. And again. I tried buying multi-packs of one-ounce bags. I'd eat one packet and, lo!, go back for another and another. It took a while, but I finally arrived at a workable solution: I stopped buying tortilla chips and similar.
You're not overthinking. You're going in circles. Stop buying the crackers. Try again in the future, if you wish, but stop for now.

I would get rid of the crackers. You list the nutritional content, but don't include the carb amount, which I'm sure is high. Babbs' idea of cheese crisps is a good one.

I have had reflux issues over the years, but mostly related to stress and food choices. Always manageable with a PPI/antacid. Because of meds I need to be able to take for my auto-immune condition - NSAIDs and steroids - the sleeve was a better choice for me. We decided to take a chance with the reflux because of the other pressing medical needs. So far, so good (knock on wood). No reflux issues, and I'll be on a PPI forever because of the meds I take for the auto-immune.
So there can be other medical reasons that point to a sleeve over a bypass. However, given the serious risk of GERD, if I didn't have the other medical concerns, I likely would have decided to go with a bypass rather than risk the reflux/GERD. It might be worth discussing with the surgeon why he thinks reflux won't be an issue with your sleeve, and what factors he is considering with his recommendation.

If I had GERD prior to surgery I would never choose sleeve. I was sleeved in May 2014. I never had GERD prior to surgery but developed a severe case as a result of the sleeve. It was miserable and the sleeve makes it worse. I wouldn't bet on the acid going away after surgery, even if you have a hiatal hernia repaired (I did, didn't matter). My acid was so bad I was forced to convert to bypass. It's just my opinion but if I had acid issues I would go bypass from the start

I converted to bypass from sleeve because of severe GERD. Prior to surgery, my Dr. told me I was unlikely to lose any significant weight as a result. And he was right. I've lost a whole 11 lbs in the 6 months since my revision. Sorry I can't give you any additional information about revision for weight loss, but if you have questions about revision in general, feel free to ask.

Is it ok if I eat ______? You should abe asking yourself is this something I SHOULD eat?
Is it on your diet progression of your plan? Is the bread carbohydrates sugar macros worth the exchange for hitting your Protein goals?

I am 2 years and 7 months post surgery. I looked like I was at a normal albeit curvy weight about a year post surgery. I'm currently 122 lbs on a 5' frame. While that is considered a "normal" BMI, I'm far from skinny. I started a new job July 2015 where no one knew me in my "fat" body. It's been an interesting experience. I'm completely used to my eating habits, but I guess to the uninitiated, my habits are odd. I eat small meals every few hours, that mostly consist of a type of meat. I can walk into our office kitchen and not be tempted by the Snacks (a better word for crap) that are left on the table. Over the holidays I got so tired of hearing the comments about how I was "so good" or how they couldn't wait for me to "cut loose" and "be bad" at the holiday party, that I outed myself. I took two of the staff members into my office, showed them before pictures, told them about my surgery and told them that I was doing what I needed to do to keep the body I now have. The comments have, for the most part, stopped and I'm happy about that. Yes, It's nice to no longer be "invisible" or treated with disdain. I'm learning to say "thank you" when someone compliments me rather than "thank you, but . . . ." and then draw focus to the parts of me I don't like. It's sometimes difficult, and odd for sure.

You can't control his actions, you can only control yours. It sucks that he isn't being more supportive, but that said, he's not having surgery, you are.

The world isn't going to stop eating crap because you can't. food commercials are still going to be crazy. Restaurants are still going to serve unhealthy stuff in huge portions. Everywhere you look there are going to be people eating, shopping for junk food, etc.

You do you and ignore him.

Just going to throw this out there...

First, I have no idea the scenerio or the players that you are referring to, so I am definitely not taking your words personally.
I will tell you that I, personally, am the exact same in person as I am behind my computer. I don't curse at people, I don't call names, but I am fairly blunt and opinionated. I am not a warm and fuzzy person by nature so while my intent may be genuinely caring, some people take me as too direct or harsh.

Please remember that you cannot read tone on the internet. What you want to interpret as an "attack" may well have been meant as constructive criticism. What you take as nice, might be what others take as pandering. I can honestly say that what you've communicated as your desires above on these boards would deter me.

I don't always want encouragement, especially if I make a bad choice. I don't want or need "in the nicest way" because at times, I really need a kick in the pants. I prefer someone tell me how it is rather than patronize to my feelz.

I rarely consider people "mean" because a stranger's words on the internet do not affect me personally. The only time they seriously p!ss me off is when they start in with name calling and personal attacks towards others. I seriously don't even care if they are calling ME names. I find that humorous and very telling of their character.

We are all very different in the way we communicate AND in the way we interpret. I rarely block and I rarely report. I appreciate disagreements, banter and debate. It's how **I** learn and grow.

Once it gets PERSONAL, the problem starts and the blocking begins.
