Chaelove0810 got a reaction from fancie72 in Is it Possible that a person isnt meant to be skinny?
I appreciate everyones feedback. Some of the responses came off a little abrasive but i can take it . Let me make it clear that im not trying to be "skinny" im trying to be healthy and i want to learn to love myself. I personally dont want to be down to 120 lbs because i wont be comfortable. My goals are my goals whether im no where near skinny or im still considered obese. I came on this site for support and to share my thoughts and to get positive feed back and have another support system outside of my family because they dont understand it the others who are going through it would understand. This is all new to me even tho its been a year im still trying to figure it all out

Actually being "big boned" is not a myth. It only becomes a myth when it is used as a reason for being 'overweight'. Being big-boned gives you a larger frame. Frame may affect you are 'perceived' , but doesn't really affect how much you weigh. The NIH has a guideline to help you check your body frame using wrist measurements (per height group for women). About 70% of the population falls between the medium frame.
Having a large frame (big boned) has nothing to do with to do with bone density. Lower bone density will not affect the size of your bones. Just the concentration of a mineral in it.
Again, a small/large frame is not equal to being under/overweight. It may just help you look 'better' while being under/overweight.

In short.... no. If you take in fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. That may become more difficult as you lose more weight, but it still holds true. You, as well as the people around you, might not be used to how your body changes, but that does not mean you are "meant" to remain at a certain weight.

I was wondering is it possible that someones body just isnt meant to be skinny .. im a more curvy female and i have lost 80 lbs but it seems like im having such a hard time getting to my goal weight. Everyone i know tells me they dont want me to lose any more weight and im not meant to be skinny. Is that possible?

80lbs is Amazing btw. The article kind of implies to go back to basics which i'm sure you've heard. Try not to be so discouraged. You've accomplished something truly amazing. 170 is pretty good. If i get there by next year, i'd be golden. I suspect that you've likely put on some muscle as well. Take a look at the 1st article.

I found this while reading articles about working out and another one about stalls in general. They both have some good information so I thought I'd share.

I started off walking. First a mile at a slow pace, then I added another, and another; slowly increasing my pace. I constantly pushed myself. Eventually, I was running the strait-a-ways and walking the curves at the track, and then one day I did not need to walk the curves. Then one day I decided to walk up the bleachers, then one day I was running them. By the end of the first year I was running the track, bleachers, and added some crossfit in between. One day, after a year, I decided to go to a gym and I hit the weights. I started off with two days, then three, and now--two years after taking to lifting weights--I lift 5-6 day a week. My fitness level did not happen over night. It was a progression and a determination to get fit, to never face obesity again, and to adapt a new, healthy way of life. Good luck to you!

You are only 4 weeks... relax a little with the exercise... try not to over do it.. you are still healing...
If you weren't exercising before your body is going to freak out if you go from 0 to 100...
Take it slowly.. walk at a comfortable pace and incline.. and push yourself to do a little extra each day...
Ive always been a fast walker.. and luckily for a fatty i am quite fit... however when i first started i would push myself to do just 5 extra minutes every day... if i couldn't ... then i would try again the next day... it got to the point where that extra 5 mins added up.. the fitter you get the easier it becomes

If you really want to exercise, you should walk or swim, I think it's a bit early for hitting the gym. Good luck.

Occasionally I feel kinda "empty", but I haven't been hungry in more than two months since my surgery. Eat on a schedule, your body needs fuel.

There are apps that remind you to drink. That's a great start to your loss - but you definitely need to get your Protein and fluids. You can have creamy Soups (no chunks), hummus, refried Beans (with cheese & sour cream), cottage cheese, ricotta bake (should be able to find recipe online), add Protein Powder to pudding. You have to eat even if you're not hungry.
