  1. I did too! I finished much faster than I expected to. Here's my report: Fatty Fights Back: I iz triathlete
  2. That's what I was going to say. I really do think some people WLS as a big magic wand and think the weight will somehow magically drop off without them having to change a thing. Those people always struggle afterwards with the reality of what they've done because it just doesn't work like that.
  3. Only 24 hours until my triathlon!
  4. That's great!
  5. Welcome to LapBandTalk! Looks like you are at 50% EWL at 3 months. That's what my surgeon likes to see. Hopefully yours will be happy too.
  6. Welcome to LapBandTalk!
  7. Welcome to LapBandTalk! It's good you got a new fill doctor. The band doesn't work without fills!
  8. Welcome to LapBandTalk! I used to live around there, but now I live in NorCal.
  9. Ha, I'm definitely a hard-ass now. I didn't even buy my kids Easter candy.
  10. My son goes to bed later than my daughter. My daughter says "it's not fair" but it is fair. He's older. When she's older, she'll stay up later too. It works with income tax too. It wouldn't be fair if Bill Gates and I paid the same tax. It's not really even fair if we pay the same percentage. Because 10% of his income is nothing to him, but to me it's a big portion of my disposable income.
  11. My club has a regular bike ride on Thurs. They have one on Sat. too but it's kind of advanced. Yesterday was the first Thurs. one and first I show up at the last possible second. Then it takes me so long to do the bike ride that I came back after dark which is against the rules. I feel like a dork. But I did get in 22.5 miles! I remember when I was hoping for 16 miles before my triathlon (which is Sunday).
  12. Welcome to LapBandTalk! I'm not familar with APS. Sorry.
  13. Welcome to LapBandTalk! I had a hiatal hernia repair with my surgery too and it really did set me back.
  14. It really varies depending on your doctor's office and the insurance company.
  15. Welcome to LapBandTalk! Lots of people gain weight having kids and then can't get it off. I think our bodies figure they need the extra padding "just in case" if we are going to be bearing children. In my case, my weight problems started with puberty. My appetite got out of control and then I got pressured to go on a diet and that was all she wrote! Have you found the Aussie section on LBT yet?
  16. I tired too. I want to back to bed.
  17. I think so too. Yum, shrimp!
  18. Today we did a bike ride. I was so slow I got back after dark which is against the rules. Oops. But I did 22.5 miles. Too bad it took me 2 hours!
  19. Welcome to LapBandTalk!
  20. Yep, it's totally fair. I've paid taxes out the ying-yang when I was making six figures and I'll be paying them again this year. The government won't collapse during those two years I was trying to get my business going and even 1% during those years would have been a big burden on us. Heck, we're still trying to get out from under those two years in a lot of ways. Fair doesn't mean equal. I tell my kids that all the time and I mean it.
  21. Sounds complicated! Insurance matters usually are. I hope it all works out for you. Without a fundus, you should also have the "no ghrelin" thing, right?
  22. Today is swim day. I was out there for 90 min and got in 2100! I think that's the most I've ever swam.
  23. They are against the rules in triathlons. Some running races allow them and some tris are starting too, but most don't. It's a safety issue and also considered cheating. Yeah, that happens. I did what you did -- made sure my walking and running equalled 3.1 no matter what and pretty soon I was running the whole thing. I think I did it for the first time a week before my race so it was a bit nerve-wracking. The other thing I started doing was after the 5 min. of walking at the end, I'd run again.
  24. We didn't pay any income tax in 2006. I don't think that's a sign the system is broken. I had started my own business and our yearly income was half what a family of 4 needs to survive in our area that year.
  25. Heh, heh, I hate that thread too.
