I am 9 mos. out from gastric bypass, and I could have written this myself. I've lost the same amount of weight and been having the same issues. It's horrible. Very good advice from blondie66. I will be putting forth the effort to change my thought patterns and see if it helps. Not an easy thing to do, but completely makes sense. Please keep us posted if you find anything else that works for you, and know that you're not alone.

Congratulations on your weight loss! If anger is the way you're responding you have to figure out what thoughts you're thinking to make yourself angry and allowing you to treat people badly. It's the thoughts you're thinking that is making you angry. Change your thoughts and change your behaviour. Possibly you feel like you're missing out, possibly you feel you deserve better and it's making you resentful which is fuelling your anger. Losing weight is not synonymous with being angry. From my personal experience I have slightly less patience cause I'm not stuffing my feelings but I always ask myself what would be the most loving response. It's not always easy but worth it.

Thanks for your reply. I have to admit I am 5 years post and I have been very negligent in this area. Usually due to the cost. And, now that I'm retired it's definitely an issue.

Bariatric Fusion chewables. Low carb/great taste and no need for additional supplements i.e. Calcium, Biotin etc. they're all in there. Recommended by my surgeon for rny and have always gotten back excellent results from my bloodwork. Also, very affordable. When checking and comparing, look at carb and sugar values. Most are very high and may not be what is best to get weight loss headed in the right direction, especially if sugar was you're issue to begin with.

My dr. Recommended fusion chewables and they have only 1.3 gms. of carbs. Take 4 a day, 2 in the morning and 2 afternoon. No need to take anything extra, it's all in there. Just got my 6 mos. postop bloods drawn and they are amazing! Check them out here on BariatricPal.

inspyrdbyu reacted to got2go125 in 6.5 months post op
I had surgery July 26th, 2016 making me about 6.5 months post op. I have felt great, but find myself struggling. I am down a total of 75 pounds and have gone from a 24 or snug 22 to a 16 in bottoms and 2x/3x to a Lg/XL. I have hit several stalls along the way and it's frustrating. I often find myself falling into old habits, but do my best to correct myself. Even during my stalls, I can feel the inches coming off which is something I had to change in my mindset. I need to stop worrying about the pounds so much and as long ands I'm losing inches, I feel like I must be doing something right. I feel like I should be down a lot more, but I keep reminding myself where I started and I am proud of it. Due to life situations, I haven't been exercising like I should, but working on that too. I hope blogging on this site with help me with accountability too. Keep moving forward. One step at a time!

At two months, you can likely eat the Protein from the tray and feed the pasta/rice/potatoes part to your dog...or toss it. My dog loves my new food plan

Super excited to finally have fingernails that I can file and paint. All of the Protein I'm now consuming (instead of carbs) is really showing in my nails. I think I will schedule a manicure for just before Christmas. This is a nice side effect of my new healthier eating habits.

The temperature of what you are drinking could cause this too. Try room temp Water if you can and see if it makes a difference.

The early days are hard. . . and five weeks = early days. You're right. You are being flooded with hormones on top of recovering from major surgery and trying to adjust to an entirely new way of living life. I was a wreck the first 2 months or so. The good news is that it DOES get better. For me, getting back on my anti-depressant was a lifesaver but I was on one before surgery so I knew I needed it.
The relationship part can be tricky. If you can find a time when you are feeling (relatively) calm to sit down and talk to the important people in your life and explain what is happening, assure them that this is not a permanent state of being and that your sweet, wonderful self will return in due time, hopefully, they can find it in their hearts to extend you some patience and understanding.
Exercise is good for working off excess emotions. So are journaling, music, any creative pursuit or watching a really sad movie with a box of tissue in your lap. Spend time with people who love you, find something to make you laugh, Celebrate every victory (I got a toe ring as a reward for making it to onederland) and do something extra-special nice for yourself just because you can.
I'm seven months in, 128lbs down and I can't remember the last time I was this happy with my life. Five weeks in, I never would have thought it possible. You've got this. You'll make through. Sending you warm thoughts. SuperSparkly

Surgery update: Okay, new update. It has been a very hard few days. I was tricked at first. Within a couple of hours of surgery, I was feeling great. However, that quickly changed. Through the entire first night I feel like satan had unleashed a gang of demons inside my body. I was allergic to the pain meds that they were pushing and it was very difficult dealing with that. I was up throwing up blood for hours. The pain from that was terrible and I was very scared. I still have tons of the blood in my sinuses. The surgery day and night and the first part of the next day I was so mad at myself for doing this. However, it is getting better everyday. I am at home now so that is a good thing. I have not had more than 2 hours of sleep at a time since surgery. More positive notes: I am feeling better, I am able to hold down Water, small sips of a Protein Drink and about a 1/4 cup of strained cream Soup (not at the same time). I believe I am on the mend now.

I had RNY gastric bypass 3 years ago. My regiment was fairly strict. There are other types of surgery such as mini-gastric bypass that some individuals had done and it seems like their post-op direction is very different than RNY.
The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.
Weight loss is achieved after surgery through volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.
I think my daily caloric intake during the first several weeks after surgery was in the range of 500-600 calories. That includes the calories in the Protein Shakes. At 3 weeks out I was not allowed soft foods including Pasta, rice, crackers and toast and too many carbs are a big no no. The primary focus on food was to alway put protein first.
