I had mine on Monday. Been pretty good thus far. Post op care is good and that is helpful in recovery. Some swelling but walking well. I have a revision from lapband to rny. So happy with this New Journey.

Hi, everybody!! My surgery date is 4/25 and my liver shrink diet started yesterday. Today is my 34th birthday and I spent it drinking a Protein Drink, a Protein Bar, and 3oz of lean meat. It's a far cry from a normal birthday of Breakfast donut and meals out with friends, but I wouldn't trade it. I'm so excited for what this next year will bring and the healthy lifestyle I'll model for my kids. I want them to see me making my health a priority and taking care of myself. So far, though... I'm hungry. So hungry! But 2lbs lighter than I was yesterday and throwing a party for every pound I'll never see again.
Can't wait to follow each of you and hope you'll check in after surgery!

Currently dealing with that! I am African and my whole family is totally against it! They have watched me become a shadow of myself over the years due to this weight and now that I have hope to gain my life back they do not want to support it. I told them I'd rather die trying than keep being this way and I am an adult and I really don't care about their opinion. As for my boyfriend who thinks I might lose my ass and boobs, told him if he does not like how I look after he can walk too. This is my life and I am taking it back. Period!

They have watched me become a shadow of myself over the years due to this weight and now that I have hope to gain my life back they do not want to support it. I told them I'd rather die trying than keep being this way and I am an adult and I really don't care about their opinion. As for my boyfriend who thinks I might lose my ass and boobs, told him if he does not like how I look after he can walk too. This is my life and I am taking it back. Period!

My mom is my #1 supporter. She's in my corner for the surgery 10000%. I told my dad & step mom and they are against it. I'm very hesitant to tell anyone else. It is my body and I determine when/if I decide to tell someone. Keep it as confidential as you are comfortable with.

I have gone through this. My husband is very supportive. However I haven't told many about the surgery. I've already heard "you're gonna get too skinny" or "you'll look sick". So I opted not to go any further with sharing info. I feel like it's a huge step for me and I need all of the positivity that I can get! I already battle my own thoughts. Smh No need for more anxiety. Moving forward with God and positive thoughts!

@@mskittykat03 I think you may be onto something re: our friends and family members not wanting change. We chose it, they got drafted. They have to deal with us not cooking unhealthy foods anymore, not looking the way they're used to seeing us, not going on ice cream runs with them, plus others might find us more attractive and they might feel insecure, etc. They're not going to see the benefits of us becoming more active and participatory until it happens, so from their perspective, it just looks like a lot of stuff they didn't sign up for.

I'm not finding many people in my life who are supportive. It's okay with me, I knew how they felt about the procedure before I made a decision so I've made the decision to not discuss with those individuals. It is not their place to make such judgements about how we handle our health. I've only shared with my significant other who is incredibly helpful and a few friends, not my family as they do not believe someone my size needs surgery. We all need to do what is best for our health, not do what our friends and family want us to do.
I know my family loves me but that is the problem, they love me as is. Maybe they are the ones afraid of change?
