  1. call whatever the number is for your clinic then, chances are it will roll over into an after hours answering service or give you the number to call.
  2. do you have an after hours number to call your team?
  3. yes. your FMLA will go to HR for approval. Your supervisor will know you are on FMLA, but not the reason for it. your supervisor won't know if it is elective or not. I was asked to postpone mine (another employee was out on FMLA) and I said I have already waited a year for this surgery. I need it. I am not waiting another 1-3 months. I am sorry if inconveniences you. and I wouldn't warn anyone until the paperwork is approved, but only you know what is best in that relationship. once it is approved I would tell her.
  4. that's some real progress right there! I am thrilled to hear it.
  5. made me feel like a kid, for a few minutes anyway. I put my hair in a ponytail, just to maximize the kid effect. maybe should do pigtails next time, ha.
  6. my work outs were limited to walking only for 4 weeks, but by then I was walking about 2 - 2.5 miles per day. so if you feel that ambitious it should be just fine.
  7. in a stunning bout of insanity, I pulled out my jump rope this week, and it is a lot easier now than it was. kinda fun too. will I make a habit of it? probably not, but it is good to shake up the workout from time to time.
  8. to be sure, your group is the only one who will know the answer. at my practice you had to attend one support group meeting before surgery could be approved, but did not *have* to attend them after that. by the time I got my date, that was all behind me. let us know how you are doing.
  9. How far out are you? I loved my band til year three. I didn't mean that to be rude. I'm truly wondering about people several years out... if they are still happy. I am three months out - but I am sorry, I didn't know you were looking for people who were sleeved several years ago.
  10. I've caught a few people in there and had a nice chat. :-) it is a lot easier with the chat button on the top menu.
  11. yes, there is a risk, but the vast majority do not have complications. only you can decide if it is worth the risk. I knew obesity would kill me, sooner rather than later. not much math to do there, it was a guarantee. so, I took the risk and so far, the worst thing I've had to deal with is constipation and the hots for my husband. and everything about my health and day to day life is improved. I love my sleeve.
  12. you can start trying to drink more now, and get used to it. Hydration is so important to our body's proper function. Add lemon slices, or cucumber if you like, and I also love the Vitamin Water zero lemonaid especially. Fairlife milk, and Protein shakes count...... but the more you can meet that goal and exceed it a bit the better I think you'll feel.
  13. I was! and I'm pleased with my progress, but I am still in early days.
  14. @@choicemun I was ANGRY at 3-4 weeks and had some depression after that. I am not normally a subdued person. it is the hormone dump. I am trying to be gentle with myself, and others around me - and I know my usual sparkling personality will re-emerge- and filtering any important decisions through people I trust.
  15. I have had edema since my middle 30's and take a prescription for it. I am hoping that I will be able to come off the meds, but have tried all the dietary changes in the past with no change in the edema so we will see.
  16. Botox can be life changing. I feel it is very safe in the hands of a good doctor. I have a friend who has a problem with vocal cords treated, and where I used to work we had a doctor come in to treat spasticity in patients with disability. some had their arms, hands or legs drawn up and when treated could function more normally and in once instance I know, walk again. I am thinking of having the doctor here treat between my eyebrows, but my 11 issue is very mild, so we'll see. I'm already here everyday anyway, so I'd just have to come up with the $$$
  17. great news! I will be looking forward to watching your journey and seeing the progress!
  18. for retinol, I like the retinol res Q from the alpha hydroxy line. I just order it online, and as an aside, their massage oil is lovely too. I've used it off and on since my mid 30's, when the work of raising my wild boys started to make me look older than I wanted to.
  19. (I assume you mean "dermabrasion"?) Any specific kinds of chemical peels you've used? And where do you have practitioners who are good at this? Should I go to a plastic surgeon's office? Or are strip mall spas reliable places to have this work done? I really like the philosophy microdermabrasion peel, which you can do at home and might be a good place to start.
  20. I have always been fascinated by those "lifestyle lift" type of face lifts. We do a good amount of botox at the office I work at, and I think the results are fantastic - our doctors are good at doing the shots near the eyes, for cosmetic as well as some medical reasons. I am looking forward to hearing how this progresses for you!
  21. I am really looking forward to seeing you post from the other side of the surgery!
  22. yes! to what everyone has said. for me, because I had a cancer scare last year, that is still technically unresolved - I will give people a little more grace if I get to that point. it was very touching to know that people care, but ultimately I will let them know that I am working with my doctors to determine when, and how to stop loosing. Goodness. I can't even really believe I could get there next year?!? what an exciting problem to have.
  23. yes! and please do take the meds if you need them. the more you are able to (slowly) walk and rest, and sip Water the quicker it will pass. welcome to the club! it's a wild ride.
