  1. milk of magnesia is my friend. this has been the only real "issue" I've had post surgery. ICK. so it's a stool softener for me daily, MOM and benefiber. keeps things moving along.
  2. I love the Vitamin Water zero, especially the lemonaid.
  3. @@Dub yes! that is great! and great for the doggies too. I found the chairs where I have a pedicure to have grown the last time I was there. everything is so much more comfortable.
  4. If you want to you can learn to use other things than food to help with emotions. A counselor can help you and we can also give you ideas here. I am a stress cleaner. you can always tell how challenging my life is by how clean the bathroom/kitchen are. Walking helps me deal with depression. You can do this!
  5. congratulations! I can not tell you how much I am eagerly awaiting the day I can say the same thing.
  6. first off I don't believe you could even possibly eat enough to gain 3 pounds of FAT, so do not worry. if you could be constipated or something that could easily be due to that and Water weight. The first few weeks are your body healing and recovering and your body can do weird things during that time. keep with your plan, and you will loose. secondly, we all have the fear that we will be that one person for whom it doesn't work. of course we do! everything else we have tried has not worked. but you will get there. your only job right now is to sip water and get Protein. what kinds of things are you able to have? I was on full liquids then.
  7. we just got finished having a bunch of people over to Celebrate my daughter graduating tomorrow. I had a blast cooking and serving and enjoying everyone's company. My Dad did the grilling, I did the prep. I would say maybe the first month or so when you are seriously recovering from surgery you will want to nest in, and I am not really interested in baking yet - but yes, you will still enjoy all of that. I love playing with food and making new recipes. I think you will also. and yes to everything @@Dub said above.
  8. yes! those are some of the best moments! and it sounds like you've had plenty of energy to accomplish the work you needed to do beforehand!
  9. I hope every surgeon has the goal of making sure you heal and don't have any complications post-op. A balanced diet is a great goal down the road, but right after surgery protein and fluids are critical --- even if it is hard, or you don't have an appetite, or don't like the taste, etc. One 11 oz Protein shake spread out over three days and less than 8 oz of Fluid a day is not enough for anyone post-op. I can't imagine any surgeon advocating that diet as a good strategy for anyone. SMH But if I dare to try to drink 2 shakes, and enough protien to reach 70 or 80g I feel sick like I wana puke! I just can't do it... not right now at least. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App in the early days it is all just sip sip sip and walk walk walk. you just keep trying each day and then one day the swelling goes down, and it gets a lot easier.
  10. Discussion is one thing. The OP basically berrated anyone who dared to not get the Protein that HER team recommends. Thats not discussion Oh, well I see your perspective. I don't think she was berating - she stated her feelings strongly, but some of those posts yesterday, YEESH. scary. I felt a certain amount of distress, and I reckon she did too.
  11. What I did at that point was focus on good habits. I could only walk 20 minutes 3-5 times a week. do a little yoga. I started paying attention to what I ate. Worked on getting plenty of Water. I gave up soda. I did have some foods I knew would either not be on the menu again or would not be the same. That's normal! I did not have a pre-op diet, as my liver was small enough. Sounds like you are on the right track!
  12. My surgeon is highly skilled and respected where i live and id prefer to listen to him than those on forums in regards to my best interests post op of course you are! but this is an internet forum we are participating in, so it is only natural that we would discuss these things? At the end of the day I am going to listen to my team (I am paying them for their advice after all!) discuss with my peer group (my LOVELY friends here #1) and then sort out what is going to be best for me. there was more than one person on here on many threads advocating what I think are really dangerous practices - so, here we are discussing. it's good!
  13. Thank you for the post! I love seeing before/during/after pictures. Helps me keep my eye on the prize!
  14. touch down taco dip was a big fav of mine. family ate it with chips and I ate it with a fork. 1 can of refried Beans. grate a clove of garlic and a smidge of taco seasoning. I also like to add 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. spread it in a shallow baking dish then in a food processor, or by hand blend together 6 ounces of sour cream and half a package of cream cheese with some taco dip. when it is all blended spread on top of the beans - add shredded mexican cheese to top it off cook for 20 minutes or so around 350 degrees. then I ate it just like that. now I add salsa to the top.
  15. the plan I was on allowed to take meds in applesauce or sugar free pudding - have you tried something like that?
  16. if ginger ale helps you, why not try a ginger tea? maybe that would settle your tummy. do they have you on any medication for nausea?
  17. Amazing how much more pleasant cleaning the car out is when your not stopping at drive thru fast food places anymore! No fries to vacuum. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. at that point I liked refried Beans, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs. things like that. how are you doing with liquids? sometimes when we are dehydrated nausea gets worse. if I am constipated I can have an aversion to food/drink also. it does get better!
  19. I haven't been in that same situation, but I have had adult children to need to come back home for a time - and whenever I have a minor child(ren) still at home, I am sorry but you are an adult now - the minor's needs come first. my current 21 yr old had a hard time with the fact that when he moved out his sisters got their own room, and when he moved back in he got put in the den, I did not move them back in together. I told him to be grateful for what I was able to offer him, and I remind him he didn't move back in here to be a kid again. He either has to act like an adult and make sure I am glad he's living here, or he is more than welcome to make other arrangements and come home once a month for dinner so we can catch up. it is a hard place you're in, but yes - even if the teen were to provoke her, she should be the adult. she should be on your team helping you as another adult in the home. it sounds like she does not want to do that. While it may be hard to find other arrangements, perhaps this is her (maybe subconscious) way of forcing the issue.
  20. One shake, even with these additions should NOT last a few days. that is not good advice.
  21. yes, I don't know whether people are serious or not - but I am afraid that they are, and unknowingly setting themselves up for failure.
  22. you don't consider the way you were eating with just the Soup, and being dishonest with the psychologist to be a sign of an eating problem?
  23. What issues were you dishonest about? The team, psychologist and all are there to help you and make sure surgery is the right choice for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. This is because your calories were way to low. If you continue to follow this plan you will gain back again. Water, Protein and veg. Do you have a NUT? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
