Small victory today. My stall is over and now I'm 33 pounds down since surgery about 2.5 weeks ago. Two things I've really noticed so far: shoes are too big and my towel wraps around my body without giving anybody a peep show. Happy Dance

I don't tell everyone about my surgery, but I get those stupid comments from people all the time when they do know.
I have always said that this is a matter between my physician and me. I have a very supportive PCP who calls me his "rock-star weight loss patient."
Now that I'm 22 months post-op, I get comments about being too skinny or asking when I'll stop. The food police are also out in force now. So, you aren't going to comment on the pile of fat and carbs that our 250 lb coworker is eating, but you're going to make a snarky comment about what I ate or how little you think I ate? Blows my mind.
Unless I go out for lunch, I usually eat in my office at my desk so I don't have to listen to the crap.

Oh how about " you can't eat that!"
I just literally spazzed out on my husband because I asked him to pick up some pudding at the grocery store. I get so agitated when people who have not been sleeved , nor have met with any nutritionist, nor any doctors- try to tell me what I can eat or can't eat! I'm the one who just had 85% of my stomach removed! Do you honestly think I'm going to eat any-damn-thing that is going to hurt me or impede my success??? Just shut up already!
    * I think this was more of a vent than anything.*

So my surgery was on 2/29 and I lost about 20 pounds. All the sudden now since Monday I haven't lost any weight at all not even 0.5 of a pound. I'm still on a full liquid diet and don't understand why this is happening. It's very discouraging. Was this all for nothing? I'm working so hard, getting my Protein in, trying to get exercise in (still haven't gotten the approval to start a full blown exercise plan, DR just wants me to walk). Tell me I'm not crazy.

I was totally elated over my recent weight loss. I just had my stomach cut open to help me lose weight and now to see a stall this early is just disappointing. Sure it's not a big deal stalls happen, but emotions run high right after the procedure and this should be a place to vent.

I'm in the same boat as you. I decided I'm going to stop weighing myself every day. I'm going to check next Sunday. Hopefully by then "something" will happen. I think people get a little sideways when people have their first stall. They forget we are very new to this. We watch so many videos and blogs of people who shed weight like it's nothing. When you are doing everything by the book and for it to stall so early (in my case I stalled during the FIRST week after surgery) it's hard not to get upset. Especially when emotionally you are still dealing with the changes. Hopefully this time next week we will be in a much better place

It's called "The Dreaded 3 week Stall". Frustrating, but totally normal. Probably won't be your last stall, either. I probably had 4 or 5 stalls in a matter of a year. They totally suck but just part of the whole process. They got me where I am now

thinatheart13 reacted to 02CDMB in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
As many have said before me, there are several straws that have broken my camels back. For me it is just being tired of being tired & feeling like crap all the time. I have three German Shepherds that I would love to walk but there is too much pain in my back and hips to tolerate it. I have recently discovered the restaurant booth issue. I have always been the one to ask for a booth because they are more comfortable. Not anymore!! Not only are they not comfortable but when I look across at my husband and see that he has a huge amount of room between him and the table even after I pushed the table over, is ridiculous. I have also recently discovered Facetime which is awesome because I get to see my daughter while I am talking to her but ugh, why do I have to see myself as well! I despise having my picture taken and for some reason, people who are not obese do not seem to understand that. I have been outright rude sometimes to avoid it & have had to practically beg to not have my picture shared on Facebook. I don't want to be that person anymore. I am tired of having to sit on a stool to fix dinner or do dishes. I am tired of having to take breaks when I am cleaning house. I have been in denial for way too long. I have used food and alcohol to avoid dealing with myself. I am ready to find a way to love myself. I was actually just recently promoted at work. I was completely blown away by this promotion because of my self-image issues, I didn't think I had a chance. I started my WL journey in Dec 2015 and am not looking back. I believe that 2016 will be my year to shine. I am half way through my 6 month diet/exercise program and have the sleep study in May. After that I will hopefully be scheduled for surgery in July. I have read this entire feed and I am so grateful for everyone's input. A lot of what has been said really hits home for me & I wish you all the best of luck in your WL journey.

I went to a wedding in NOLA recently, so I know exactly what you'll be facing. Here's what I did, and it worked....
Don't drink alcohol, just like @@JamieLogical said. Not only is it unwise this close to surgery, but it's empty calories that can encourage you to make other bad choices. Don't eat carbs. This is your new lifestyle! And here's a little secret.... New Orleans food tastes even better when the flavor isn't diluted by rice or Pasta. I order gumbo, red Beans, shrimp creole, and my favorite, crawfish etoufee without the rice, and it's fantastic!!! Try the etoufee at "The Gumbo Shop" in the Quarter. At the wedding, there will probably be a buffet. Just put Protein (meat and beans) on your plate and nothing else. If you're still hungry, go back for some green vegetables. By then you'll be stuffed. Don't eat the cake or dessert. Sorry. Just don't. The sooner we break our addiction to sugar, the easier the rest of the journey will be. Have blast, and feel proud about making good choices. That's much better than the guilt you will feel if you make poor decisions. And if anyone tries to pressure you to eat or drink something you shouldn't.... Just thank them for their concern, but you're eating more healthfully now. And dance like the slender person you'll soon be! Good luck! You can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it also has a lot to do with how much you might have lost pre-op I didn't lose that much. I have lost 30lbs so far since my surgery on February 11 but I think it has to do with exercise the de said I can do More I have been walking about 3 miles a day with one of those tracker things good luck and keep. Up the good work

It is soooooo common to have a stall early on. Especially if you lose a massive amount of weight the first week or two. Your body has just been through the ringer. Trauma and changes are happening too fast for it to handle. It needs a minute to catch up. Keep getting your Water and Protein in. Take your Vitamins. Stick to your food stages. Walk a little every hour or two. You WILL lose weight. I promise. You obviously aren't going to keep losing 20 pounds a week.... there will be stalls and fluctuations along the way. But trust in the process.

You're not crazy. I lost the first week and then nothing for the next 3, I hopped on the scale today and I had finally went down! Everyone loses at different paces. As long as you're doing everything right, getting your Protein, Water and Vitamins in you should be good. Don't stress over the scale, you will lose weight!

I am 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and I can not wait to start pureed foods. I too am having head hunger. Driving to the hardware store, I was amazed at how many restaurants I passed. I drive this route all of the time and do not usually see any of the restaurants. I am hoping that I am just thinking about food all the time because it is prohibited. I am hoping that once I do get to eat and realize that food has not been taken away from me forever, I will stop thinking about food.

Hey everybody I've switched over from pre forum to post. I had my surgery on Monday. I have some personal questions I can't find the answers to.
First off, I am extremely mentally hungry. Like I could eat a whole pizza hungry. The food craving haven't gone away. I thought cutting out the stomach took away some of the hunger hormone?
Next question: (TMI) I am very constipated. Merilax is not doing anything. What can I do?

    UPDATE!
When I did start eating solid foods, I can ABSOLUTELY feel my restriction! I could get 6 oz of broth down but on solids, I'm only able to get down 1-2 oz right now. And my hunger has also gone away. I do feel some discomfort sometimes but nothing like I did when on all liquids. if any of you had my experience, please be encouraged because when you get to solids, it will completely change.
Thanks for everyone who gave me encouragement!
