  1. JayTee, stay on your scheduled diet and stop worrying. I don't know what meds you are on but I do know some meds cause thinning of the blood or other issues. The doctor is ensuring your health. As for your fatty liver, that is why the doctor places you on a diet prior to surgery, does not take much for the liver to shrink, stay on course and look forward. Surgery was a breeze, just remember to get out of that bed and walk, walk, walk. Even before the nurse comes in and reminds you to. Good luck!!
  2. Cindymom, I understand. I did so well in the beginning, then vacation, holidays, and the ice/winds. My favorite place is again my recliner! I have regained 10 lbs and cannot seem to start the loss again. I am scheduled for a fill on the 16th so, believe it or not, I am looking forward to it.
  3. New in KY, have you researched any of the Unjury powder products? I have only found them online but they are high in protein and low in everything else. The unflavored powder can be added to instant breakfast mix, broths, and other items on your liquid stage. I still add it to soups, sauces or whatever to increase protein. The soups are not bad so I keep a scoop in a baggie in my desk when I get weak. Use your imagination with the stuff. PA (also in KY)
  4. Zeama Glad it all went well and looks like your doing good. I have slowed down on weight loss so I guess I need to start working with this tool instead of letting it do all the work. The holidays really hit me hard and I gained 10 lbs. Now can't get back into the routine. I have had 2 fills so far but went to Dr. Steeley's office this month and confessed my sins and refused a fill because I have not been doing my part. I go back in March for a fill, hopefully I will at least have lost what I have put on. Keep up the good work!
  5. I did start taking the Prilosec last night and I do have an appointment for a fill this coming Friday so I will discuss these issues with him. So far today I have been fine so you might have hit the nail on the head.
  6. Lovesgrapes, thanks for the response. I was on Prilosec but went off of them because I did not think I needed them anymore. I was thinking the possibility of an ulcer and did not know what impact that would have on my band. Guess I will add the Prilosec back to my pill box (I had gotten down to harmones and vitamines).
  7. Does anyone who has been banded for a few months have pain in their abdomine? I think it mostly occures when my stomach is empty. It is more of a soreness than a pain. I am concerned, I have only had 1 fill and I refuse to entertain the idea of erosion.

  9. WOW, I have been away from the boards toooo long!! You folks are rockin with your weight loss! I have come to the conclusion I am a slow but steady looser. I am down to 217 and would be more if I was consistant with my exercise. I am just lazy, I come home from work and hit my recliner....I know, that is no excuse. As far as my new outfits for Florida, that trip is still a month away so I still have hope. I am scheduled for my 2nd fill on the 19th so maybe I will get motivated again. The good thing is I am no longer wearing "woman's sizes". I have graduated down to the Misses sizes and I am thrilled with that. Keep up the good work, you folks inspire me to get off me a$$ and exercise!
  10. Stay-Tuned, seems the insurance would understand the surgery is not "complete" since the appliance was not installed according to the manufactor's guidelines. I know they will say the port was originally attached but it is not normal practice for the port to detach. Makes me wonder where their head is or their sense of reasoning. Good luck, hope they realize since the device is not functioning correctly they wasted the company's (your) funds and insurance companies don't want to wasted money. If they deny you contact an attorney.
  11. I received my band March 08 and paid special attention to my port site as I was scared to allow it to become infected or worse. I always kept my insessions clean and medicated. After about 4 monts out, the port scar os tender and sometimes numb to the touch. When I sneeze I have to hold the port site or it will really hurt bad. I assume my body if functing accordingly but my port site remaines numb. I plan on speaking to my doctor about this issue a week from Friday to see what he has to say.
  12. Stay Tuned, what has happened to you and your port incident? I am 5 months out and still feel twinges with my port area and the scar is sorta numb. I plan on speaking to my doctor when I go Sept 19 to see if he will help be understand any of this. My weight loss is slow but sure, right now I have lost 45 lbs and I am content...for now. Just want to make sure everything inside is fine!!! Hope everything turned out well for you. We fought to long to receive these band and now I don;t want to fight that battle again unless I have to. Busy!!!
  13. Teri, surgery was nothing compaired to what I expected, it was a breeze. It gets tedious the following weeks when you have to consume only liquids and mushys. I had surgery in March so I have moved to solids. My husband grills THE BEST pork chops on the grill....and now I can't eat them because they get stuck. I have to chew, chew, chew, chew,...then chew some more! Not worth it. Don't sweat the surgery, you will not regret it.
  14. Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. I have lost my motivation in the past few weeks (since I came home from vacation) and have not really exercised. The results is my scale went up 2 lbs. I wanted to cry...so I asked my husband to hide the Oreo Cookies. This weekend is pretty booked so I plan to get back to my walking on Monday morning before I go to work. (not as hot outside). We plan on going to Flordia in October with kids/grandchildren and I bought the cutest skort set to wear, 1 size smaller. At this rate I will be sending it back!! Keep me in your thoughts! PA
  15. I had my first fill the end of May and am scheduled for another one in September. There was no charge for the fill in May. I guess I need to find out how long that will be n effect. Somewhere I heard they covered for 1 year and somewhere else I heard they covered for 2 years. I will find out and let you know. I would assume Humana would still cover, they have for the past few years it was just that since lapband was considered a "new procedure" they always denied. Now there is so much info supporting the benifits of weight loss surgery, insurance companies are approving it.
