Piercings and surgery
Hot Topic carries retainers......I went a bought some yesterday in anticipation! Thanks for starting the thread, I was wondering about that, too!

I'm looking forward to.....
........tying my shoes with ease ........buying clothes without an X on the size tag ........crossing my legs ........sitting on the floor....and not worrying about looking like a floundering walrus getting back up. ........playing tennis ........not being winded after a flight of stairs ........feeling prettier .......giving up HBP and other medications .......eating to LIVE rather than living to EAT! How about you?

Another NSV
That's so funny! I had to do CPR recert at my old job and I remember the SAME feelings....hated getting down on the floor and it was so awkward! That's a great NSV! Those are the kinds of things i'm looking forward to!

Being alone after surgery...
Did you guys do okay after surgery being home alone? Hubby and kiddo will be home in the evenings, but I'll probably spend most of the first week alone during the day.........I'm sure dh could take another day off, if necessary.....just wondering what others experiences were.

Protein, my kingdom for good protein
First of all.....PHINS UP from a fellow parrothead..... NOW....tell me more about vegan foods..... After the last beef debaucle, I'm seriously leaning towards cutting out "hoof" animals as well....I already stopped eating pork.....interested to hear about the protein side of it.

How Soon Did The Dr Call You?
Self-pay here, too....attended seminar on Feb 1, scheduled for surgery Mar 18! I agree, call and let them know you are very serious and want to move forward as quickly as possible. That's what I did....got a call the next day with appointments for all of the prep work!

Attention All Biker Ladies - and Gentlemens!
I work in motorclothes for our local dealership. It's a great job, awesome environment, good people in and out all of the time, I really like it!

Coffee drinkers?
I'm pre-op and trying to get away from coffee....it's HARD! I'm down to one cup in the morning, during the week and two on Sat/Sun mornings.....I do really want to get away from caffeine.....but it's not very much fun!

Soda..sometimes or NEVER???
I was also told no carbonation....although my surgery isn't until 3/18, I've gone cold turkey! I'm okay with soda, but a little melancholy about beer.....

REALLY?! (an ode to beer)
I LOVE beer....and I'm mourning a bit.....but the truth is, it's all about compromises and trades.... I'll trade being able to go up the stairs without being winded for a bud light. I'll trade not having to lay down on the bed to zip up my pants for a corona. I'll trade a waistline for a polygamy porter. I'll trade a...................well, I'm not sure what I'll trade for microbrews, because I really really like them.....BUT you get my point!

March 19th

Attention All Biker Ladies - and Gentlemens!
My first bike was a 1994 HD Dyna Lowrider..... My current bike is a 2005 HD Softail Deluxe.....I love, love, love that bike! We put 5,000 miles on our bikes last summer and loved every minute of it! I would suggest visiting the dealerships in your area....sit on several bikes, see which one 'speaks' to you. If you are a new rider and haven't taken a rider's course, PLEASE do yourself a favor and take one! If you are a rider that hasn't been on a bike in awhile, maybe consider taking the course just to get your 'bike legs' back! I work for Harley-Davidson, so of course, I am a bit biased....but I do love my HD!

Recommended Reading - Any Good Books?
After my psych evaluation, the psychologist recommended a few books for me: "When Food is Love" "Eating Mindfully" and "Feeding the Hungry Heart" Have any of you read any of these? Any other recommendations for good books to help deal with the "head" issues? I'm really looking to get on the right track before I have the surgery!

Banded Bikers II
I HAVE A DATE!! I'll be going in for my band on March 18th! Perfect timing....the shop "Cabin Fever Ride" is March 17th, so something to keep my mind off of it the day before! I'm really happy with the timing, I'm *guessing* that by late May, early June when riding season is in full swing here, I'll be feeling pretty good and able to ride..................... and by the end of the summer, I'll be buying a pair of chaps that do not require the hide of an entire cow!!

3/18 ~@~I have a DATE~@~
Sooooooooooooooooooooo excited! Spent the day doing all of the prep work, just have to get a surgical clearance from the PCP and bloodwork....but since I have an appointment for that, I was given a date of March 18th for my surgery!

Tattoos anyone?
I am a tattoo girl! I have three and will DEFINITELY get another one WHEN (notice, there is no IF) I make my goal! My plan is hibiscus flowers on my arm....one for every ten pounds I lose! BTW....I got my first tatto at 40!

Padlock and chain!!
I just had a long talk with my teenage daughter about this.....she and my husband have agreed that when they "need" treats....they'll go out...either to the convenience store or where ever....buy their goodie and eat it out of the house....of course, whether or not it will actually work is another story...but I was so pleased they are willing to go to that length to help me. They also think it will curb their snacking as well......hubby could stand to loose a few, but my daughter is thin (thank god).....still, good habits will go a long ways towards keeping her that way!

Not a date, BUT STILL....
YES, it will be quite a day! The coordinator asked if I minded spending pretty much the entire day at the hospital......and truly, I'd rather spend one day than dragging it out driving back and forth trying to schedule everything between work and life......I'm eager to just get going!:thumbup::thumbup:
