Can't give up COFFEE!
I was a two pot a day kind of girl.....and I am now ONE MONTH totally caffeine free....I didn't think I could do it, but I did.....and you know what.... I feel better...really, I do. The first week was brutal....dull constant headache was horrible. Now, it's a couple of cups of yummy herbal tea in the morning......one in the evening and life is good. My doc said I absolutely had to give it up............so I just gutted through it! I wish I had a suggestion to make it easier, but I don't.....seriously though, if you're falling asleep driving....you need more sleep, not more caffeine....hope you can do that!! I'll be thinking about you and know that you CAN do it......::hugs::

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
food Network is the DEVIL, I swear! I'm blocking it so there is no chance of stumbling by "Death by Chocolate" or some evil doer like that! Sorry to hear your mornings are a little rough, Fenton.......perhaps this too, shall pass! I'm on day THREE of my liquid goo phase....feeling good about it. I even went to one of those meal prep places and made a bunch of dinners for my family so they will have something easy and GOOD to prepare while I'm drinking my life away.....ahahahahahahahaha.....in a good way! I did try and convince the dietician the vodka was a clear liquid as were Jello shots.....she hit me with my file....damn..... Have a good day everyone!

How To Hide Lap Band From Work
My co-workers have become another level of support for me. The are excited for me beginning a new stage of my life. There have been a lot of questions and a few semi-negative comments....but nothing too bad. I just don't think you can have too much support.......if it means ignoring a few naysayers.....that's fine with me.

Meet the March Bandsters!
I'm Paige.....I live in Northern Utah with my hubby, son, daughter and two jack russell terrors (oops, I mean TERRIERS).... My surgery is set for March 18th......just eager to get on with it! This is a picture taken last spring on a bike trip we went on.....it's in Oatman, Arizona.....notice how I cleverly disguised my big butt with a baby burro....great idea, but not terribly practical on a day to day basis! Looking forward to spending time with all of you!

I miss my wine!!
I tried to convince the dietician that vodka is a clear liquid...... as are jello shots.

Dreams--is it just me?
YES! I must be more nervous about it than I think because something always goes wrong (weird, weird stuff) in my dreams.....but yes, probably two or three a week!

Keep changing my mind
YES, YES, YES!! That is completely it! I have been pretty successful in my life, but this was the ONE aspect of it that I could not succeed at.....I want to be IN CONTROL and have to tools to keep that control! As for cruising.....reframe it....are you going for the food or the atmosphere....I've been on two cruises and I remember the food being good...but what I really remember is standing underneath the palm trees, looking out at the sapphire blue Water in Nassau.....THAT'S what I want to do again.....except maybe this time in a swimming suit!

Why did you choose lap band over bypass?
wow, that is honestly something I'd never thought about.....adding it to my list! For me, it came down to the fact that the band is adjustable....there was a post this morning from a bandster who is two years out and struggling....went to the doc, got a fill...and voila, back on track...that just isn't possible with GBP. I have heard of diabetes being cured simply by having GBP....seriously, like the day after surgery....I can't remember what the scientific basis is for it, but that may be why your doc was leaning towards it..... Ask him WHY, take notes....listen carefully and then weigh out the options...it's your body, but don't discount his knowledge!

When you have a craving what do you do???
I haven't been banded yet.....but in the past when I have a craving I just gut through it.....my 'off' switch is defective....if I have one hershey kiss, I have ten....or fifteen.....if I have a handful of potato chips...I have half of a bag......so until I am able to repair the off switch, I just suck it up and try to think about something else.

Surgery next week and worried
I started my pre op diet a week before surgery....... three Protein shakes a day and Clear liquids.......maybe try a 'self imposed' pre op diet TODAY! There are lots of variations, read through the posts! I'm being banded on the 18th, so just a day ahead of you!

A solo bandster ready for round 2
WOW.......you've come such a long way! You are exactly why I choose the band....it IS possible to start over, restart, kick start....whatever! Good for you......you are an inspiration!

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
Looks like a HarleyGirl stack here.....geez, lots to say tonight..... DAY ONE of the clear liquid diet OVER AND SUCCESSFUL! It really wasn't as heinous as I thought it would be.....I haven't been "hungry" although my "head" is a little hungry! It seems kind of weird, but it's given me a real feeling of empowerment today....there were snickerdoodles at work...nope, no thanks....sloppy joes at home for dinner....nope, no thanks....sipped my beef broth and took the time to taste it and *try* to enjoy it....NOW....come the weekend, I think it will be a little tougher....but by then the nervous energy will have kicked in in anticipation of the surgery and I hope that will get me through!!

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
So I got a call today from my surgeon's office......they are switching over to the Realize Band and I will be one of the first two patients they use it in.....not sure how I feel about that. I have confidence in the surgeon, so I guess I'll just go for it.....any of you have the Realize or will be getting it?

Roommate saw I was on Lapbandtalk.com...Came to my room to tell me it's wrong!
Tell her to go in to the kitchen and pour herself a nice big cup of "Mind your own business".....perhaps stir in a little "do your research before you spout off"..........

Law enforcement thread
I'm a retired LEO....and YES, get this done before a fit for duty policy is put in place. I retired because I was not able to pass the test... In the long run, it was best for me.....I'm much happier now, but I would liked to have spent a few more years! My goal is to pass the freaking test within a year from my surgery date, which is March 18th....not that it means anything now, BUT it will just give me peace of mind! (I hope the fact this is in the men's room and I'm not a man is okay)

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
I am feeling some serious anxiety about starting the liquids tomorrow in preparation for the surgery...........I guess it's about "making it real"....that this is really going to happen. I haven't been scared, but now I kind of am.......feeling sort of weepy and horribly bitchy......poor family!

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
My fears........hmmmm....I'm a little over a week away.... I'm afraid I won't be able to stick to the liquid diet....well, not really afraid....because I know I will....but I'm nervous about how miserable it's going to be....BUT alas, it's only a week. I'm afraid of the anesthesia....I always get horribly sick/nauseaous after anesthesia. I did talk to the surgeon and she gave me a prescription for something....said it's what they give chemotherapy patients before treatments....I'm to take it the morning of surgery and she said it should last three days. I'm afraid of the pain.....I'm pretty tough, but there is that nagging feeling that it's going to hurt more than I think it will. I'm afraid of the lengthy restrictive diet afterwards...the liquid, full liquid, soft diet stages.....I guess again, afraid isn't the word....but just wonder how big of a bitch I'll be going through it. God help my family. My fat and I have become pretty good friends through the years.....I wonder who I'll be without it....a different me? a better version of me? a *worse* version of me? or JUST ME? Mostly my fears are 'what's going to happen'....will I really be successful this time or will I be a laughing stock because I spent all of this money and really don't make my goal? Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez, I sound a little neurotic........well, I guess I am....but it's quite an adventure!

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
:clink: TO THE FUTURE! I know I've had those same.....'maybe if I just try harder' feelings recently....and now I've decided that I'm not going to try HARDER, I'm going to try....no...do BETTER....doing the same things that have made me successful at losing in the past and then ADDING the 'POWER OF THE BAND', I know this time will be different, better.......why am I hearing the opening part of The Bionic Man.... We can rebuild her....make her smaller, faster, stronger, thinner.....

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
They made a point at my pre op appointment of telling us we would be asleep when it went in and asleep when it comes out......that made me happy! I'm getting very eager to JUST DO IT ALREADY!

Pre-banding Feed Frenzy....
I know I'm not alone.....but DAMN....since I got back from my last pre op appointment yesterday I have been on a total feeding frenzy....even the dogs look afraid. I suppose part of it is nervous eating, part of it is knowing I start the clear liquid phase in two days....... Hmmmmmmmmm, a box of girl scout Cookies, prime rib, pop tarts....mostly just crap..... I had lost six pounds in the two weeks between my doctor's appointments.....but I'll bet I've gained it TODAY....ugh

Anyone TATTOO their scar?
I hadn't thought about tattooing the scars......great idea! I have been thinking about tattooing 13,625 on my wrist, so every time I'm tempted to binge or go astray I will be reminded how much I've invested!
